Okay, here’s the deal.  Texas Governor Greg Abbott is all offended-up over the FBI doing background checks on people who will be carrying heavy weaponry close to the US Capitol where former and newly elected presidents will be present.

“No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard,” Abbott wrote in a tweet Monday night.

He calls it “offensive.” Wait a minute, wait a minute, isn’t this the F Your Feelings crowd?

You might want to shake your boots loose because the puddle of hypocrisy and humor is getting neck deep around here.

This is the same damn Greg Abbott who sent to Texas State Guard to watch over the entire United States of America Military Joint Forces doing training exercises in Texas because he thought they were going to round up all the Republicans and tote them off to abandoned WalMarts to be re-educated (like there’s any “re” part to that) to become liberals.

No, it was really worse than that.  Jade Helm in 2015 was Greg Abbott falling for a Russian test case to create disinformation and drive the media.  It was looney toons around here at the time and the beginning of the conspiracy theories becoming the driving force of politics.

Despite the number of Texas residents who were part of the attack on the Capitol and the number of Texas Congresscritters who voted to reject the Electoral College count, didn’t wear masks, and in some cases gave tours of the Capitol the day before the attack…the FBI should ignore the Texas National Guard because Abbott might be “offended?” GRRR. Abbott’s an idiot. I’m offended by his being offended.

Somebody please check the Governor this morning.  He’s about a quart low on reality juice.

“Rarely do we ever see sports and politics collide, but we saw it on MLK day. Some of us in the Houston area are Texans fans. That’s been an unfortunate thing lately as they finished 4-12, fired their coach, and seem to have a preacher/character coach as the power behind the throne. Deshaun Watson (the star quarterback) has apparently had enough.

I’m a football fan. Truth be told, I’m a bigger baseball fan. I’ve even written several books on the subject. As dialed in as I am, it has never occurred to me to protest anything related to any team. It certainly didn’t occur to do it on this day when we celebrate someone that spent his whole life fighting for peace, equality, and justice. About 150 people did it anyway at Reliant Stadium.

I suppose Dr. King would support their right to protest and he’d be happy that no one was hurt. Still, I can’t help but wonder what he’d think of people protesting a football team and the employment of a preacher. Talk about your first world problems. If that’s the worst thing going on in your life you should count yourself lucky. Just looking at the news proves that’s not true. I guess whatever takes your mind off of it all.”

A few days ago, I told you …

Okay, so I wake up late this morning after the disturbing news last night that the historic courthouse in my hometown – a block from my home – is being closed to the public today through next Wednesday. They didn’t give any reason for the closing but I suspect it has something to do with the domestic terrorists who might get some ideas about courthouses next, which meant I did not sleep well last night.

I am happy to report that there were absolutely no problems at either the Historic courthouse nor the new courthouse in Richmond.  I don’t know if I told you that in November we elected our first African American sheriff since Reconstruction and the first Democrat in 35 years. That might have had something to do with it staying peaceful, but overall I haven’t heard threats of unrest today coming to fruition.

I guess they recognize what fools they were on the 6th and we are not playing cowboys and idiots here.

Today, Pro Publica published an amazing archive of over 500 videos of the attack on the Capitol posted to Parler by the insurrectionists who horrified all normal people on January 6th.  They are in sequential order and cover the time from noon until 6pm Eastern time.

The level of violence can disturb some, so be warned and cautious sharing this around.  This is significant work and preserves for all time how Americans attacked Americans because they didn’t like the result of a free and fair election and followed a profoundly corrupt man to the Capitol and now to jail for a long time.

Nobody I know is a bankruptcy lawyer, but these guys are and these guys say some interesting stuff.

The National Rifle Association filed for bankruptcy in the Northern District of Texas (Dallas). The NRA’s press release says that the purpose of the bankruptcy is to enable the NRA to change from being a New York corporation to a Texas corporation. This is critical to the NRA because the NY Attorney General, who regulates NY non-profits, is seeking to have the NRA dissolved for financial malfeasance.

The NRA swears it’s gonna pay off all its debts and is like Donald Trump promising that he won the election, don’t count on it.  I imagine that the NRA head guys and the head guys’ girlfriends have pretty much emptied out every dime they can.

The NRA is claiming it can change the location of their bankruptcy from New York to Texas, where they will be treated so much nicer, because one of their subsidiaries is in Texas. This subsidiary is Sea Girt, LLC, which amusingly was created on November 24, 2020.

There’s plenty more wrong with their whole swamp scam on this deal, but to be honest, I barely understand this much.

I do know that the New York AG is trying to dissolve the NRA and that Wayne LaPierre needs to keep his job and stay outta jail. But, it looks like Mr. LaPierre and the NRA are gonna be seeing a lot of the SDNY before this is over.

I’ve always found it karmic and comic that NRA supporters spent so much money donating to the NRA during the Obama years because Obama was going to take their guns. Well, only that they had less money to buy guns.

CORRECTION:  I looked at those LLC papers three times and saw the name of the company as Sea Girl all three times.  The correct name is Sea Girt.  Apparently Sea Girt has some historic meaning for the NRA. I don’t give a damn. But, I corrected it in the story anyway. Thanks to those who let me know that, like me, they like Sea Girl better.
