Off Script to the Very End
Trump just boarded Air Force One bound for Florida to begin his fight to stay out of jail for the rest of his life. The crowd was sparse, but the Army did give him the 21 gun salute and the band played Hail to the Chief. During his remarks, he immediately veered off script, which is normal for him. The written remarks had him wishing Biden and Harris success by name, but he couldn’t bring himself, even now, to even do that. Instead, he boasted that he stopped the pandemic, took credit for the vaccines, and said he was more popular with veterans than any president in history. The rest of his speech was his normal self aggrandizing bullshit. Mercifully, the speech was much shorter than his normal word salad filled diatribes.
His plane is now on the runway. I hope I never hear his voice again.
It’s Inauguration Day
… and I am sleeping late. So, if Donald Trump does something stinky, please go ahead and talk about it. I’ll catch up here when I finally roll outta bed.
I’m getting my COVID vaccine tomorrow afternoon so if I disappear for a while it’s good thing.
Mitch Twist
Y’all, Mitch McConnell has tied himself in a bow tie trying to let us know that Donald Trump is a terrible person and riled up all those nuts to try to take over the Capitol.
McConnell had learned some new words and said them all:
“The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty,” he said.
“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people.”
Other powerful people? Like Mitch McConnell?
Damn, y’all. Did Mitch hatch some eyes and ears yesterday? And, don’t you think he talks big for a little man who didn’t have the guts to open Congress for the impeachment to start while Trump was still in office?
Let’s Talk About This
Is Trump gonna pardon himself? His family? I don’t think he knows. He’ll just blurt it out or he won’t.
Whatever he does, it won’t make sense and he’ll never admit to a mistake.
And Speaking of Texans
Okay, so a guy who lives just outside of Fort Worth decided the best way to be a good American Christian was to threaten to shoot his children if they ratted him out as an insurrectionist.
Guy Reffitt went to the Capitol on the 6th and reminded his children that he went there to protect the country. And, for good measure, told them ….
On Jan. 11, Reffitt commented to his son that he had to “erase everything” because the FBI was now watching him. Reffitt also told his son that if he crossed the line and reported him to police, that would put the family in jeopardy and Reffitt would have no option but to do his duty to protect the country and “do what he had to do,” according to the complaint.
In another threat, Reffitt told his son and daughter, “If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors … traitors get shot,” according to the complaint.
