Mitch Twist

January 19, 2021 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, Mitch McConnell has tied himself in a bow tie trying to let us know that Donald Trump is a terrible person and riled up all those nuts to try to take over the Capitol.

McConnell had learned some new words and said them all:

“The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty,” he said.

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people.”

Other powerful people?  Like Mitch McConnell?

Damn, y’all. Did Mitch hatch some eyes and ears yesterday?  And, don’t you think he talks big for a little man who didn’t have the guts to open Congress for the impeachment to start while Trump was still in office?

I expect this is the Republican party’s opening move in saying that Trump just brought the Republicans coffee…

  2. “I’m shocked! Shocked to find…”

Mitch McConnell’s cameo in my imagined remake of Casablanca.

Mitch always says what will help him maintain power, no matter how repugnant it is. So, on the last full day he has majority power in the senate, he has an epiphany about the person he enabled for 4 years? Wonder why I’m skeptical about his motives. If he walks over to the house and he and Kevin McCarthy get all their repugnantican members to agree to a joint statement of truth about the election, admit to and apologize for their role in perpetuating the myths about voter fraud which eventually led to an attempted insurrection, and jointly condemn Trumpf, I’ll believe Mitch. Until then, his legacy needs to be intertwined with the worst POTUS in history.

Moscow Mitch is doing a high wire act setting up for the 2022 elections. He wants his power back. Not nearly as much fun for him obstructing from the minority position. Climb higher on the wire, Mitch. If anyone deserves a spectacular fall, it’s you.

It’ll wait. Let’s take a few days off to enjoy having a real President, Vice President, First Lady and a real pandemic response team! The Inauguration and virtual entertainment, a welcome return to class and style.

  5. I think he is looking for a way to rid himself of Cruz and Hawley.

Diane @5, would you please elaborate. No special reason, except I really like those words an would like to see them again and again on an endless loop. Dare we hope?

Moscow Mitch wouldn’t be immediately risking 2 Senate seats because Mo and TX have Republicon gubs who would appoint R replacements. But could it be the first of his tactical errors as the replacements would go into the 2022 pool with other Senate races.

lol You did this Diane. Peaked my curiosity, so am breaking the promise to myself to let 2022 sit at least until after the inauguration. You are onto something. Mitch is politicking, but looking at the map this may be the first political miscalculation of his career – the Rs do not need two more seat to defend in 2022.

  7. Maybe he’s a foxhole convert who found religion while hiding in a broom closet when a rabid mob raged in his hallway.

If I recall correctly, Mitch has access to / gets all the top-level intelligence briefings. Perhaps there are some tidbits in that insurrectionist riot intelligence data that even he could not ignore?

  9. Jane & PKM says:

Jace @ 7, ROFLMAO with your “image” of Mitch stuffed in a broom closet. But this is Moscow Mitch. He was probably calling his and Elaine’s brokers to ask how the siege was effecting the stock market. His second call was probably to the devil to broker a third or fourth bargain on their souls. 3rd call? Possibly to Elaine to ask if her family could spirit them out of the capitol. “Love you honey, bring me some fresh drawers, too.”

On msnbc this afternoon they are debating if Mitch saying Trumpf “provoked” the rioters gives him an out that he didn’t say “incited” the riot. The debate is if the use of “provoke” vs “incite” could give the senate a reason not to convict because it doesn’t rise to a high enough level. Well the definition of provoke in the dictionary is “to incite and stimulate a person to action; to induce or bring about; to anger and enrage”. Provoke = Incite, so repugnanticans can’t walk back those comments. Bill Barrf, bless his heart, said the same thing finally. Impeachment, conviction, declare he can never run for office again, lose your lifelong benefits (and no presidential library), and then the legal actions in NY can be frosting on the cake. Enjoy your few days at mar a lago cuz the end is near der Trumpf.

I saw that clip on the news and wondered where he had been the last four years? He’s thinking only of he money that will not be flowing to the GOP re-election groups. What they don’t seem to understand is that until they all admit, say in plain English, Biden won fair and square, there will be no unity.

  12. Jane & PKM says:

Grandma Ada @11 wins the internets today!

Ted Cruz, Hawley and all those jokers also need to admit if not for paper ballots, their loathed mail-in ballots, and machines with paper trails they would not have had their precious recounts in many states. So if they are so “concerned” about fair elections provide the funding for machines with paper trails.

Not gonna happen. They know fair elections would mean their extinction.

Maybe there’s a spine after all? Or…he got a better back brace?

    13
  14. Jane & PKM says:

larry from Colorado @13 more likely he or Elaine are under indictment which put a splinter up his sphincter. Or, more even likely he’s working internal polling for 2022.

After 4 years of fluffing Donnie and being silent, when Moscow Mitch talks he’s playing the base. Tune on the street is that Donnie is out in 2024, but Princess Sparkletwat is available. That would and should worry Mitch.

    14
  15. Nice words by Moscow Mitch. I still don’t trust him. He’s evil.

That’s all I’ve got to say.

  16. Elizabeth Moon says:

I want it to be Thursday. I want to wake up with the memory that nothing went wrong at the Inauguration, that Biden and Harris are OK, Trump and his cabal aren’t at the center of the news anymore, and then find out that the wheels are back on the bus and it’s rolling down a road that doesn’t end in a cliff.

I’m having real trouble going to bed because I feel like I have to hold invisible ropes in both hands and pull, or something will fall apart. That’s ridiculous. I know it’s ridiculous. But so many things could go wrong tomorrow, did go wrong a couple of weeks ago, and maybe if I stay up all night worrying and jittering, that’ll be the thing that prevents things going wrong. No, I don’t think I’m that important…but after four years of Trump…is it safe to look away, lie down, maybe sleep?

Skipping it all until Thursday…sounds a lot easier. But I”m really, really tired. We all are, I think. One more night.

  17. McConnell began growing a nascent spine after Twitter kicked Trump out.
Unfortunately WAY too late to do any real good. Somehow, “it’s the thought that counts” is pretty hollow when 5 people are dead.
And with McConnell, even that doesn’t seem to have left a mark. His lord and master is gone so it’s time to come out of hiding. And start sucking up to the next one while still refusing to actually — you know — DO anything.
