I Did Not Know This

February 27, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I just found out that Trump cannot pardon Roger Stone.

Here’s the deal.

It appears that the framers of the constitution took Trump into consideration.  George Mason was so suspicious of the pardoning power that he threatened to not sign the Constitution unless something was done about a loophole a president could use for evil.  He wrote …

It may happen, at some future day, that he will establish a monarchy, and destroy the republic. If he has the power of granting pardons before indictment, or conviction, may he not stop inquiry and prevent detection?”

Thus, this was added to the Constitution.

Both the plain meaning of the Constitution’s text and the historical evidence show that once a president has been impeached, he or she loses the power to pardon anyone for criminal offenses connected to the articles of impeachment — and that even after the Senate’s failure to convict the president, he or she does not regain this power.

I did not know that was glaring out at us.  Trump cannot pardon Stone.

I’m sure the Constitutional geniuses over at Fox News will find a loophole in the loophole fixer.

So, when Mom asks you what you learned today at the computer, you got something.

Whoa, Whoa, Pull In On Them Reins, Cowboy.

Okay, when Trump up and decided for no good reason whosoever that Mike Pence should head up saving us all from Coronavirus when the poor man can’t even save himself from being alone with a woman, it seemed kinda not thought out really well.

Well, yeah.

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, who has been leading the coronavirus task force, was blindsided by the White House decision to put Vice President Pence in charge of the response to the virus outbreak, the Washington Post reports.  Azar learned of the decision only moments before the Wednesday evening press conference.

In all fairness, that’s when they decided it. If Hope Hicks had not stopped at the bathroom on the way to the press conference, she’d be in charge of it.

And, admit it, y’all didn’t even know who Alex Azar is, did you? You thought he was the guy in charge of changing the light bulbs every five years,

Louie Gohmert Is Gettin’ A Rope

Oh y’all, it’s Louie on the Shame Train.

The Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Bill finally passed congress, 100 years after 14 year old Emmett Till was lynched for allegedly whistling at a white woman.  The bill passed congress this week on a 401-4 vote.  Louie, of course, was one of the no votes.

Louie says he voted no because the punishment wasn’t strong enough. Yeah, we believe that. Especially since the last thing closest to a lynching I can recall was the 1998 murder of James Byrd, Jr., who, for no reason whatsoever other than the color of his skin, was dragged behind a pickup truck in deep east Texas until his body fell apart in pieces. Three young white nationalists were charged and convicted of his murder.

That was in Louie’s district. James Byrd’s gravesite continues to be defaced to this day, including Louie’s vote.

Debate Night

Okay guys, this has been sitting in my DRAFT box since 8:00 this morning.  I thought I posted it but I didn’t.  I apologize.  Here it is – 8 hours later.

I slept on it and I am still disgusted, but I can still laugh so it must not be all that desperate.

Matthew Dowd posted a picture this morning that seems to be reminding people of something … I dunno … something familiar.  Hummmmm … the Democratic field?

Yeah, there is an uncanny resemblance.

And to put things in perspective, Deb T reminds us that 4 years ago, things were really weird.

And lastly, I really know how Amy feels.  I think she became every woman last night.

I’ll get over it, y’all.  It might take a couple more cups of coffee, some dark chocolate, some girlfriends coming over for lunch, and a nap, but I’ll get over it.  The sun is shining, the humidity dropped, and we’re expecting a cool front this afternoon.  We’re getting a high freeze tonight.

Just Like a Child. Just Like a Damn Child.

Trump’s former goofy doctor, Ronny Jackson, who is now running congress oh dear God, had a chat with the staff of the New York Times.  They reported that he chatted about Trump’s health  …

“The exercise stuff never took off as much as I wanted it to. But we were working on his diet. We were making the ice cream less accessible, we were putting cauliflower into the mashed potatoes.”

Like a damn child.

I think this is even more embarrassing that Jackson saying that Trump was at a good weight.
