The Fifth Circuit stayed the Voter ID decision and says that doing away with it now will cause confusion.  Seriously.  They said that.  Like requiring everybody to have specific IDs along with their voter registration card does not cause confusion.

And on the upside – Supreme Court halts Texas abortion law that shutters many clinics .  The Fifth Circuit had lifted the stay on ambulatory surgical center requirements of HB2 but the Supremes say the rules are on hold until appeals are exhausted.  So, the clinics are still open.

In Missouri, Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds Republican Debbie Dunnegan is real proud of our military, except for one minor thing —

She wants them to shoot the President.

But, she didn’t mean any harm.

Dunnegan said she merely wanted to know what oath the military took to protect the country from enemies both foreign and domestic.

“I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody,” she said.

“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” Dunnegan said.

Yeah, right.  That makes sense.  You just wanted to know what the military can do.

Texas Republican Congressman (you’re already bracing yourself, aren’t you?) Steve Stockman has an Ebola theory.

Rep. Steve Stockman yesterday chatted with End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles, telling the “Trunews” host that President Obama may be delaying the government response to the Ebola epidemic because he wants the virus to spread. Once it spreads, Stockman argued, Obama will use the Ebola outbreak as a justification to declare emergency powers.

Okay, so when President Obama wants to do something, the Republicans start hollering that it’s government overreach.  When he doesn’t, they holler that he’s trying to kill us all.

They need to sneeze.  Their brains are dusty.

In Stockman’s case, he’s got it floored in neutral.

New Hampshire is having itself a congressional race between two women: the Democratic incumbent is Ann McLane Kuster and she is being challenged by Republican Marilinda Garcia.

New Hampshire Republican state Rep. Steve Vaillancourt decided that he needed to blog about the race.  And, bless his little ole Republican heart, he got right to the meat of the matter.

“Let’s be honest. Does anyone not believe that Congressman Annie Kuster is as ugly as sin? And I hope I haven’t offended sin …”

Vaillancourt stresses that the Republican woman in the race “is one of the most attractive women on the political scene anywhere” so that means she will win.

Vaillancourt said that he’s pretty much an expert on this stuff because he read a study somewhere sometime that says that better looking people win political races.  He does allow …

The two caveats…if I heard correctly…were 1) That the two candidates must be of the same sex for the race in question; and 2) That the attractive candidate not be so drop dead gorgeous as to intimidate those watching.

Which, of course, explains all the ugly men in congress.  Including Vaillancourt —

Last month I told you that Rick Perry wants to get out of some court dates because he’s busy – oh so busy – taking “economic development trips all through Europe.  This is actually the “How Much Taxpayer Money Can I Go Through Before I Leave Office” World Tour.  We pay for his security on these trips and his corporate bosses pay for his hotel, which we end up paying when they get tax breaks.

With Ebola in Texas, Rick decided it was time to get the hell outta Dodge.  He’s prancing his silly butt all over England, Germany, Poland and Ukraine.

But, guess where he’ll be on Halloween?

Indicted Texas Gov. Rick Perry will make his first court appearance on Halloween as his defense team tries to quash the two felony counts of abuse of power against him on both constitutional and technical grounds.

Okay, so here’s what his super deluxe legal team has come up with.

The defense has since filed two motions, one arguing that the case is unconstitutional because Perry was within his rights to issue the veto, and the other seeking to throw it out on technicalities, including whether McCrum was properly sworn in and if Lehmberg filed appropriate paperwork to recuse herself from the case.

The first one is just silly.  He wasn’t indicted for issuing a veto.  He was indicted for abuse of power.  Perry has every right to veto something.  However, his Governor crown does not give him the right to extort or threaten a public official.

The second one is my personal favorite.  They are going to court saying that the trial judge who appointed the special prosecutor erred in the method he used for the appointment.  And they are going to argue this in front of …. the judge who appointed the special prosecutor.  It’s called the Your Honor, You Are An Idiot defense.  These writ twits are getting paid about the same as landing on Boardwalk with three hotels and this is the best they could do.

If this wasn’t right smack dab in the middle of an election season, I’d scamper over to Austin to see this silliness.  If somebody is going, please let me know.
