Golly Gee
A three term Republican congressman from Virginia is retiring?
Gee, I wonder what brought that on?

You’d think somebody did a poll in Virginia or something.

I just learned about this.

Both of these candidates were elected last night.

Donald Trump’s Latest Tweet

Well, when the last time you won anything was a year ago, I guess you have to keep reminding yourself. Even if you did lose the popular vote.
Y’all, this is almost sad. Almost.
Nah, not really. It’s just goofy.
Newsweek says Bannon just might be a little scared.
Ousted White House chief strategist Steve Bannon won’t stop discussing the possibility that his former boss could be impeached. And now, he’s using it as a scare tactic for Republican voters and candidates.
Bannon told immigration activists this weekend that he worries the GOP could lose control of the House of Representatives if Speaker Paul Ryan slips an amnesty policy for recipients of the now-defunct Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program into an upcoming spending bill.
It could be rightwing scare tactic. It could also be Christmas.
There’s no love lost between Bannon and Ryan. Hell, snakes don’t like each other either.
Okay, we’re now finding out that in June, Trump met with Native American tribal leaders and told them to “just do it” and go right ahead and extract anything they wanted out of their land.
The tribal leaders informed Trump that they are barred from doing that by regulations.
Trump bodaciously responded, “But now it’s me. The government’s different now. Obama’s gone; and we’re doing things differently here.”
The tribal leaders just looked at one another in stunned silence.
Trump must have picked up on that because he wanted to explain it better.
“Chief, chief,” Trump continued, addressing one of the tribal leaders, “what are they going to do? Once you get it out of the ground are they going to make you put it back in there? I mean, once it’s out of the ground it can’t go back in there. You’ve just got to do it. I’m telling you, chief, you’ve just got to do it.”
The tribal leader looked back at one of the White House officials in the room — perhaps somebody from the White House Counsel’s office — and he said “can we just do that?” The official equivocated, saying the administration is making progress and has a plan to roll back various regulations.
Trump interjected again: “Guys, I feel like you’re not hearing me right now. We’ve just got to do it. I feel like we’ve got no choice; other countries are just doing it. China is not asking questions about all of this stuff. They’re just doing it. And guys, we’ve just got to do it.”
So, I guess you can pretty much do whatever you want to now. We’ve pretty much moved to anarchy. I mean, if China doesn’t ask questions, why should we?

Okay, the conservatives in Virginia sent out this red-baiting piece on Lee Carter …

And, by gawd, he won his election anyway.
And don’t you think it’s a tad audacious for Trump Republicans to send out a mailer with bad old Russians on it?
The rightwing Republican who wrote the anti-transgender bathroom bill got beat …

… by a transgender woman.
Praise Lady Karma, y’all.
Manchester, New Hampshire, has its first female mayor.

And, Hoboken, New Jersey, elected Ravinder Bhalla as its mayor Tuesday night, which will make Bhalla the first Sikh American to be elected mayor of the city.

St. Paul, Minnesota has it’s first African American mayor. Kathy Tran, a former Vietnamese refugee, became the first Asian-American woman to join Virginia’s House of Delegates. Cathy Murillo’s victory on Tuesday makes her the first Latina mayor of Santa Barbara, California.
The grins could go on and on. But the best grin is that they are all Democrats.
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
