Okay, serial idiocy committer Matt Gaetz most likely added witness intimidation to his list of folly when he tweeted a raw threat to Michael Cohen.
That alone should question his ability to represent the American people.
But then … oh then …..

Serial Doofus
Edward-Isaac Dovere, a staff reporter for The Atlantic, tweeted Thursday that he overheard a phone conversation between Gaetz and Trump, whom he said called the Florida Republican from Hanoi to discuss the Cohen testimony and apparent threat.
“I was happy to do it for you,” Gaetz said, according to Dovere. “You just keep killing it.”
I guess things have improved, though, because later instead of taking a bullet for the president, Gaetz just “refused to discuss the call.”
I need to call Gaetz and thank him for making Cohen look totally right in his assessment of Trump.
Thanks to SGray for the heads up.

Beto announced that he’s not running against John Cornyn, so that clears the way for someone else to do it. It’s polite and good for the party for him to let folks know early.
That means he has something else in mind.
I think he’s running for Vice President.
People keep saying Biden/O’Rourke. Nope. That’s not going to happen. The days of two white men on a presidential ticket are over. If it is Biden, he’ll have to pick a woman. However Harris/O’Rourke or Klobuchar/O’Rourke or Warren/O’Rourke sounds great. They all also sound great reversed.
That’s just my thinking.
ON EDIT:

So, right now on this day, there are three people who stand a good chance of beating Trump in Texas.
Once Texas flips, there will never be another Republican in the White House.
I better get to work.

I watched the entire damn hearing yesterday. I could have just watched the afternoon.
Our freshmen females on the committee gave me hope for democracy.
First, compare our 12 women against the two Republican woman on the committee. No, don’t. It’s really kinda unfair because Republican women don’t live on the same planet that we do.
Second, the last three women on our team did not come to play. They knew what they wanted and they knew how to get it. Trump Republicans, much to their chagrin, surely are realizing that young women of color are going to leave them in a heap of whimpering deflated bravado.
Third, as long as Jim Jordan is leading Republicans, they will remain the party of people you really want to stick your foot out and trip while people are watching them. He’s the junior high school schoolyard bully.
I hope you had as much fun as I did yesterday.

We ate all the popcorn and drank all the lemonade during Michael Cohen’s testimony yesterday. I have to confess that I slipped a little adult beverage in during the last couple of hours just to steady my nerves. The news is describing the testimony as bombshells, but it just confirmed pretty much everything we knew anyway.
So, here’s my question: Is any of this testimony a surprise? I mean, really; Donald Trump is a slimy, two bit slum lord who was able to make enough name of himself from his reality television show that, for some unknown reason, people wanted to pay him money to put his name on their buildings. That’s pretty stupid in itself, but on top of that, he was denied a gaming license in Australia because of his ties to the Mob. We’ve known that for 30 years. He’s a serial liar, even when it’s easier to tell the truth (see Barack Obama’s birth certificate). He’s lied about everything from his personal taxes to his “foundation”, to other charitable contributions, to you name it. He’s in bed with the Russians AND the Chinese, if that’s even possible, uses the State Department for his own personal gain and coverups. He even gets military doctors to lie about his height & weight. Jesus.
As I watched the Repubs try to discredit him and the Dems ask him question after question, I was shocked about how not-shocked I really was. I mean, here’s a guy confirming that Trump really DID collude with the Russians to get dirt on HRC. He really DID pay off a porn star and Playboy model in the weeks just before the election. He even worked on his Russian Trump Tower project right up to the election and continued his private business into his time in office. This guy should have never been elected, but he should have been run out on a rail over two years ago.
But now, we’re all just numb, and sick of the whole sordid affair. I do know one thing, though; every person who has supported him and his lies, from Senators to everyday voters have forfeited their right for LIFE to get scandalized by anything done by Dems or their supporters.
And THAT is my new rule.

Down here at the Salon we’re popping popcorn and making lemonade. We’ll have plenty for Michael Cohen’s I Fall on Trump’s Sword show watch party today. We’ll even rent you a lawn chair for a very small sum. In the meantime, we’ve noted that North Carolina election fraudster, Republican Mark Harris, has withdrawn from the revote after his very own son confirmed that he had warned his dad not to hire “Mr. Dowless”, a shady convicted felon who acted as an operative stealing absentee ballots from elderly and infirm voters. Harris won the election by 905 votes, but only by winning a heavily Democratic county; the skewed vote attracted the attention of voter officials prompting the now well-known investigation.
Withdrawing from the race, Harris has cited “health” issues. Clearly, it’s unhealthy to commit blatant election fraud. I’m now wondering if the NC attorney general is going to show up next. Not likely, is my guess.

I’ve got my coffee, my iPad, and enough wine and chocolate to get me through the day.
Please feel free to share your preparations and what you enjoy when the big show begins.
