Way To Go, Missouri!

Okay, so the Missouri senate wanted to meet to discuss a way to limit Covid.  It’s pretty important for the state.

The special session, called by Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, originally focused on redirecting as much as $1.3 billion in federal stimulus funds. But last week, the governor expanded the scope to include legislation exempting businesses from COVID-19-related lawsuits.

They have federal Covid funds they haven’t used and the Governor says they need to spend that money by the end of the year.

But, they can’t have a meeting on Covid because they all have Covid.

Wanna know why the Republicans in the Missouri senate have Covid but the Democrats don’t?

Yep.  You guessed it.  They had a private Republican caucus a week ago.  We even have pictures to share.

Do you see a mask in any of those pictures?  You do not.  So, if they call a session, the Democrats can outvote them?  Awwww … I see now.

It’s a tad iconic when they also want to exempt businesses from Covid lawsuits.  Because, you know, Covid is unfairly fickle when it comes to spreading.  And, therefore, businesses who require their customers to wear masks should not be treated better than those who do not.

You Don’t Need Glasses To Read That One

The last doctor on Planet Earth Or Thereabouts to go along with herd immunity and Trump’s vision of lovely, announced that everybody else is all wrong about Thanksgiving plans.

DR. SCOTT ATLAS: This kind of isolation is one of the unspoken tragedies of the elderly who are now being told don’t see your family at Thanksgiving. For many people this is their final Thanksgiving, believe it or not.

Holy crap, you idiot, if they get Covid it most certainly is their last Thanksgiving.  I believe that.

Look, my family has postponed Thanksgiving until the weekend of May 8th – that’s also Mother’s Day – We’re doing it on Saturday – turkey and all that stuff – and then the kids can go to their significant others’ on Sunday for the real Mother’s Day.

It was nice to see that Stanford University distanced themselves from Atlas and was obviously embarrassed by his sucking-up behavior.

There Is No I in Team, But There Is a Me In There Somewhere

He announced it the usually formal way  —

What?  Elvis wasn’t available?

Okay, if you were to have a barrel of scummy lawyers, you’d have to pull out 126 layers of other writ twits, three inches of metal filings and a dozen or so tort actions before you’d even get to these guys.  Even then, there’s nothing under them.  Not a damn thing.

Just In Case Anybody Missed It

I’m going to leave this stuck up here for a few days.  Glen and I are raising money to send about a dozen college kids to Georgia from Texas starting December 26 and ending the day after election.  We figure it’s going to cost about $1,000 a kid.  Glen has contacts in the Georgia Democratic party and they know we’re coming.  We have Covid-safe housing for the kids.  If you can’t go yourself, be there in spirit and fortune by donating. We’re going to take it down after we hit $6,000 here.  Glen is raising through two PACs he has.  Start here.  Thanks to all of you, we made our goal!  Thank you to every single one of you!

Anatomy of a Cheater

Another tale from Nick Carraway —

I used to know this girl named Jordan Baker. She’s a professional golfer that has gotten in some hot water for cheating. Most golfers I know do it the same way she does. They use the occasional foot wedge or shave the occasional stroke. You look up at the end of the round and their score is three or four strokes lower than it should be.

The 45th president does it differently. I’ve seen only one other player do it like this in my life. It happened in high school when I played in the district championship. Instead of sneaking strokes past me he turned every hole into a negotiation. A ten turned into a five until we would bargain it back to an eight or nine. The result was the same if not even more effective in magnitude.

When looking back on that experience I am always struck by three things. First, the cheating was so over the top it wasn’t fooling anyone. Secondly, while he did shave off strokes he spent so much time and effort focusing on the con that he couldn’t do the simplest things to lower his own score. Finally, while I handily beat him, it was an absolute miserable experience.

I’ve been told that 45 does the same thing on the golf course. On one occasion, he clearly hit the ball in the water, but loudly proclaimed that the ball on the green was his. Everyone saw one of the other players hit the ball on the green, but that didn’t matter. He wouldn’t relent until they agreed it was his. Ergo, he doesn’t get you with guile. It’s a battle of attrition. You just get so tired of malarkey that you end up giving in.

Of course, no one ever lived or died based on a round of golf. At least, no one I know ever did. Politics is a different ball of wax altogether. What politics and golf have in common is that they both are miserable when you are dealing with a cheater. It’s a lot more fun and entertaining when everyone has the same goal. It’s why I eventually broke up with Jordan.
