4Nobody home sounds the same in Spanish as in English. No probably cause.
Just had a heart-rendering experience. I have neighbors that I know English is not their first language. I went over to explain that if ICE knocked at their door (which might happen even if they were legal because the surname is Hispanic) to call me and I will go out as crazy-nosy white lady and question. He assured me that #1 they were legal Cuban-Americans and #2 please ask him if they could ever do ANYTHING to help me – and they would be there simply because I cared.

8Pence has solidified his conversion to the Borg by stating about his meeting with refugees in Texas (complaining about food, showers) that we shouldn’t believe what they say.

Just saw again some vid clips of this on ABC’s ‘This Week’ program. They stated that Pence only spent ninety seconds [one and a half minute] in that facility, the media had only four minutes inside. Then Pence spent a little more time at a children’s facility [in Brownsville?] asking kids if things were OK. Well yeah, the poor kids had probably been coached and/or bribed with a few treats to give the ‘right’ answer.
This Week stated [and had video] that conditions in the McAllen facility were atrocious, very overcrowded, no beds, hygiene, inadequate aircon, etc., a stinking mess [literally].
You can bet that Pence took a couple of sniffs in there in that 90 seconds and said ‘get me the fock outta here!’.
Gawd, This Week’s ‘powerhouse’ panel has two of yesterday’s bloviating huge losers side by side: Rahm Emanuel and Chris Christie; how lame can they get?

13Yeah, Pence did kinda look like he was trying to see how long he could hold his breath. I wonder if he retched, once he was out of sight of the reporters.
I have a pretty strong stomach. But the way the stench of the mass of unwashed bodies and no sanitation is described, I doubt that I could endure it.
It Karma were perfect, every last one of the miserable officials and profiteers responsible for this outrage would be held in exactly the same conditions, for exactly the same period of time. Damned cosmic justice doesn’t usually transpire, though.
14Groups in New Mexico are teaching citizens how to passively resist ICE agents by lying down in front of trucks and forming lines to prevent easy arrests. The very best people for this are older, retired white people. They face less retribution from ICE and other Brown Shirts.
15Sam, it makes this old woman happy to read that there actually are people there who also deplore these roundups. Supposedly the targets are those who already had their deportation orders and had a criminal record. I wonder though, if ICE considers say, a parking ticket, as a crime. Also, for most of them, they are awaiting immigration court dates and must be left alone. Trump’s interpretation of – or casting aside – the law is not quite like my son and I making up new Scrabble rules.
