I’ve Died and Gone to Heaven

If you need an excuse to eat ice cream and I generally don’t but this will make it more fun, Ben and Jerry have come to your rescue.  It’s Anti- Trump flavor.

“The company cannot be silent in the face of President Trump’s policies that attack and attempt to roll back decades of progress on racial and gender equity, climate change, LGBTQ rights and refugee and immigrant rights – all issues that have been at the core of the company’s social mission for 40 years,” Ben & Jerry’s said in a statement.

It’s called, of course, Pecan Resist.

Now get ready for this.

The Limited Batch flavor – chocolate ice cream with white and dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts and fudge-covered almonds – is part of the company’s campaign to “lick injustice and champion those fighting to create a more just and equitable nation for us all,” it said Tuesday.

Look at all those nuts.  And it how I like my nuts, instead of under a MAGA hat.

Profits go to charity, of course.

Chilling

So, Miss Lindsey Graham is promising to introduce legislation to end birthright citizenship so that Trump won’t have to make it an executive order.  You know, so Trump can use an executive order ending the crummy first amendment.

I thought Lindsey was the guy who ran around spouting that he believed in the Constitution and I don’t.

Ending birthright citizenship is unconstitutional but who the hell is gonna stop them?  Brett Kavanaugh?

And then you gotta wonder, how about grown people who were born here to undocumented workers and now have children of their own?  Do they have to go back and take their children with them?

Y’all, if we don’t take back the House, we are so screwed.

By the way, Texans, Ted Cruz supports Trump on this issue and he calls himself “a constitutionalist.”  Dope.

Here’s Something We Can Agree On

Well, lookie here.  It’s election season and nobody wants to stand with Trump in Pittsburg.

Both House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) were unable to make the trip due to scheduling conflicts, while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) also decided not to attend.

I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that Trump is going to do something insane in Pittsburg.  I think the congressional leaders feel it, too.

And so do these guys …

His visit to the city has been met with some backlash. A group of progressive Jewish leaders penned an open letter on Sunday telling the president he is not welcome until he denounces white nationalism.

More than 57,000 people have signed a petition from the group, the Pittsburgh affiliate of Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, telling Trump he’s not welcome in the city.

It’ll be interesting.

Happy Halloween Eve

Yes, indeed, it is Halloween and you do not have a costume as cool as this.

Please allow me to introduce Ruth Vader Ginsburg.

Thanks to Rob for the heads up.

My Congressman Says CNN Sucks

Oh dear Lord, y’all.  Pete Olson is talking again.  This was recorded a week ago at a Meet the Congressman event.

I want you to see how a Democrat confronted Olson and never lost her cool.  I also want you to see how to leave a congressman speechless.

Keep in mind that his Democratic opponent was born in Louisiana, moved to Texas at age 2, was raised in this congressional district until age 18 when he left to attend the University of Texas.  His father was born in India and taught at Rice University.  His mother is a sixth generation Texan and related to Sam Houston.

It’s short.  Be amazed.

Phew!

Sorry I am AWOL today.  I finished making call lists for some of our local candidates to call on rainy days between now and election day Tuesday.

I know you’ve heard about the voting machines in Texas being screwed up. I really don’t think there’s a grand conspiracy or anything.  Our machines are old and they expect voters to be slow.  We’ve all gotten a little speedier on the computer stuff and some people click next page when the whole page hasn’t downloaded yet. We just need to remind people that the last page is a final check of how you are voting.  If it’s wrong, it’s easy to fix.

Yes, I think Beto still has a chance to win.

I also think we’ll pick up several Texas House seats, which would be amazing.  I do not think we’ll take a majority in the Texas House, but we’ll take enough to slow this damn train down.

I hope to be back on the internet machine tomorrow.
