Ya Gotta Have Friends
Friends gathered today in my front yard to pose with a banner that Bubba, Jr., designed for Big Bubba for a Christmas present. Cool, huh?
KPRC came to put our sweet faces on the electric teevee in Houston. These are my friends, except some of them are missing because they are at the inauguration or they don’t live here. They will all be back tomorrow night to watch the teevee together.
But the camera man seemed far more interested in Truman and his “Barack Obama’s Best Friend” leash anything else.
And here’s the cake for tomorrow. It’s Tres Leches.
And my adorable friend Cary, who is a retired FBI agent, has learned the art of fruit carving. Look closely, it says “Obama” on top.
Wish all of you were here. We saved this country from the Koch Brothers and it’s time to celebrate.
With you in spirit!
1Juanita……did you post these pics, uh, under the influence, girl????
2How sweet. How very sweet. Wish I could be there.
3Enjoy!
Okay, these pictures are all jabberwonky on my iPad but look fine on my PC. What’s up?
4Blithig in the slithy toves, I think! It was an eye- phone exercise here! Y’all are great! Hope it was as much fun as it looked, even wonky ;D
5“We saved this country from the Koch Brothers and it’s time to celebrate.” Hear, hear!!
6Stopped the kochs for now. Unfortunately, we have to avoid complacency even to a small degree as the kochs, et al, are not stupid, have nearly all the money in the world and have been re-grouping as we talk.
7Miss JJ, hope you are able to maintain your admirable leadership for as long it takes to effect the change-out of the repugs.
Great picture of you and your friends.
8Let ’em (the Koch Brothers) eat sour grapes; it’s our turn to eat cake.
And then back to work because there’s still something rotten in…er…I dunno about Denmark, but definitely in the Texas lege.
9We’re all there in spirit, JuanitaJean. And it’s a sweet treat to see the faces of a lot of sane people, all rejoicing in something good. Thank you.
10Definitely there in spirit. Happy Inauguration Day to one and all!
11This may be the only time I wish I were in Texas… just to be with you & your friends today, JJ. Such a joy to see the handwriting is on the cake this time… & WOW, on the watermelon, too!! Wow!
Another joy is your reminder that 25 million Texans DIDN’T attend the GNR (‘gun nut rally’). The US Census estimated the population of Texas as of July 2012 was 26,059,203 – a 3.6% increase since the 2010 Census.
So even if 5 million more GNR fans watched their spelling-impaired brethren on TV, that still leaves 21 million who ignored it. Add to that hundreds of millions who gave time for MLK’s Day of Service this last weekend & every week of the year.
Such statistics give us a better picture of our passion for the good of humanity & provide hope!
12With you all. Just not in the flesh. I’m going to watch all the doings on the tv.
What a glorius celebration. What a wonderful reason to celebrate. Romney doesn’t get to make any Supreme Court appointments.
Prayers going up for all of them. The Obama family, and The Biden family, who indeed do have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Enjoy the day!
Peace.
13What a great banner. Four more for 44! And like my good friend Monica Robert’s posted on Facebook – “Mitch McConnell, Mitt and Ann Romney, the GOP, and the conservafool movement are all dining on Jim Crow today.” They can wash it all down with the Tres Leches Cake!
14Yeayyyy! Count me as there in spirit. You wouldn’t want me there in person anyway because I woke up with a really bad cold. The rest of you stay healthy, post signs, celebrate together and offer thanks.
15@miemaw, the idea of Mitt Romney nominating vacancies on the Supreme Court would have been enough all by its own scary self to get me to the voting booth.
(Democratic) Party ON!
Wish I could be there! Looks like a wonderful time will be had by all (except your neighbor!). Love the banner. Your friend’s fruit carving is beautiful – he really has talent. The cake looks scrumptious, but, I’m sorry, the cameraman is right, Truman steals the show. Happy Inauguration Day to all!
16A ‘how to’ lesson in celebrating victory. It is not enough to win; we must be graceful and forceful in initiating what change we can. The job is never done; never poison the well or land for those who follow.
17Love the pix! (And I think I recognize Truman from another blog. Either that, or he has a twin brother with the same name!)
18Yesterday was a fun event.
19Wonder what Karl Rove is doing today? Licking his wounds? Perhaps on a drunken pity party? Don’t ya just love it!
And Tres Leches Cake? Oh baby… now that’s a celebration!
20Wish I were there, too. That fruit looks GOOD!
21Thanks for the pics JJ. Have a good party!
22You sure do know how to throw a party!
23A little off-topic, but as a Texan exiled in North Carolina, I have to tell you how much I love you and how I look forward to my daily dose of Lone Star sassiness. I’ve sent many others to your Salon.
