Our Father, Which Art Armed in Heaven …

January 20, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The post below gives you a visual of the I-Will-Kill-You Rally in Austin yesterday.

But there’s sound, too.

You will remember State Rep Steve Toth from East Texas who wants to make it illegal to enforce federal law in Texas.  Well, of damn course, he was a speaker at this I-Clip-Coupons-For-Ammo event.

More than 600 people gathered on the Texas Capitol grounds Saturday for a rally against President Barack Obama’s proposals to curb gun violence.

“I do hope you will call your politicians,” said state Rep. Steve Toth, R-The Woodlands, adding that the crowd should also reach out to their church pastors to get the pro-gun message out. “We don’t need more laws.”

Oh yeah, nothing says I love Sweet Jesus like something coming out of the barrel of a gun.

And 600 people came, which means that 25,674,081 people did not.

Hey, amendment does have a whole lot of letters

And in other glorious gun news, only 5 people got shot at Gun Appreciation Day rallies yesterday.   And Dick Cheney wasn’t even there.

And by the way, on Friday there was a guy in Georgetown, Texas,  who apparently was walking to the Gun Appreciation Rally in Austin.

Georgetown police arrested a man today after receiving a call that he was dressed in camouflage and carrying a rifle while walking around a neighborhood, police said.

Jerrid Wilha was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Travis County, police said. The 28-year-old Georgetown resident was not arrested in connection with carrying the rifle

He was carrying the weapon in the 700 block of FM 1460 about half a mile from Purl Elementary School at 1700 Laurel St. at 10:58 a.m., police said.

The school was locked down as a precautionary measure.

So, if sumdamnfool is walking around your neighborhood in cammo carrying a rifle, it’s okay.  Just try not to act like a deer.  Or maybe even a person.  Maybe we can limit that to an alive person.

And if the Gun Irony Fairy hasn’t sprinkled enough glitter on you yet, at the Raleigh, North Carolina, Dixie Gun Show two people were shot and a firearms instructor, hired as a security guard, left his security firearm in the bathroom.

So, today there’s a new message on the door of the Dixie Gun Show:

“The Show WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW 1/20/2013 at 10am

NO PERSONAL FIREARMS ARE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE SHOW.”

We’re not about Second Ammenment Amenent Admenmant Whatever Rights.  We are about taking your money.

Thanks to Sam and Carl for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. Isn’t there an ‘h’ in the word ‘rights’?

I propose these folks’ rights be restricted until they learn how to spell the word.

    1
  2. Maybe it was really the Ammo for The Almighty gathering or perhaps the Guns for The Great Spirit meeting…..they are sometimes held on the same weekends…with usually the same results.

    2
  3. Shaking my head…again. I am starting to get a whiplash.

    3
  4. I’m still gonna just go with what’s written on the magnet I have on my fridge.

“Let’s get real. Jesus would never own a gun…… or vote Republican”.

To me, there is more truth than poetry in that.

  5. As an ex-dental hygienist, I would love to get some of these macho “I’m willing to die for my 2nd ammedment rigts” guys in a dental chair and see just how brave they really are. It’s been my experience that they would turn into a puddle of pee at the sight of a needle or a sharp dental instrument.

  6. Ralph Wiggam says:

So it looks like we may see a conflict between ‘open carry’ laws and ‘castle doctrine’ laws.

If the guy from Georgetown walked into my yard carrying a rifle and wearing cammo, would I have the right to stand my ground and shoot him, or do I have to concede the first shot to the bad guy?

The NRA promotes both open carry and castle doctrine laws. And if they keep promoting open carry, someone is going to get shot. I hope it is not you or me.

    6
  7. “Ammedment Rigts”?! Sounds like a disease.

    7
  8. Great comments here. I love the magnet Miemaw. I might have to get one those made up. And TexasTrailerParkTrash, I can just imagine that scene in the dental chair! Hah! A dentist’s drill can inspire terror in just about anyone (did you ever see the movie Marathon Man?).

  9. Nothing is scarier than going into a gun event knowing your fellow gun nuts are armed, and someone gave Barney the bullet.

    9
  10. Ah, Susan, every day, in every way, you get funnier, more relevant, and brilliant every day. We are right beside you, sleeves rolled up, senses of humor locked and loaded and willing to take every issue (except ourselves) seriously.

Much love to you from your ever-fans, Dennis and Melissa

  11. The pro-education rally at the State Capitol is scheduled for Feb 23, 2013. Hope y’all come. We need to borrow these signs because they make a great visual about how much we need to improve education in this state.

    11
  12. As someone said on TPM, “They went ahead and made my day.”

    12
  13. Sam in Kyle says:

The basic message they’re giving is they are more patriotic because they love guns more, way more, than normal folk. In my heart of hearts I believe the tide is turning and we’ll see meaningful work done on getting more guns off the street. We’ll always have the lunatics whether they’re NRA, John Birch, KKK, or TEA Party members.

    13
  14. Someone should tell these idiots that DRONES don’t die, if they really want to bring it to a fight…twerps.

    14
  15. @Anna, That sounds like a great idea! What time is the rally?

    15
  16. 600 gun nuts, huh? I think Oil Can Harry’s gets a bigger crowd than that on a weekend night.

    16
  17. Does anyone happen to know how many people attend a typical music concert? Or even how many attended the Hurricane Sandy fundraising concert? Compared to a typical musical or sporting event at schools? Or, for that matter, how many people attend church services on Sunday? 600 is fairly paltry compared to those events.

    17
  18. Btw… is anyone else interested in using social networking like this to get a Million Moms/Dads March going on March 1st to support gun control? I would like to see if at least 20,000 would show up in all 50 state capitals… sans signs, which aren’t necessary that many folks milling around. Call it the silent majority just ‘meeting up’ as a different sort of show of ‘force’ – voting force. Time to step it up!!

  19. Corinne Sabo says:

This is ‘turn the other cheek?’

  20. “cupons? ain’t seed no cupons. wear the be at?” ask billy bob

    20
  21. Elise Von Holten says:

Okay. Out loud when I read this sputtered, “Jesus” (not in prayer-sorry God) “act of reproduction” “H.” (which I don’t know what it stands for) “Christ” (something that I believe is what we are all to attain–heresy, I know)
Since I’m in the house all by myself there was no one to hear, but it scared my new kittens…we are lockdown certifiable crazy now–us for putting up with them, them, well just because they are…
Thanks for being there, guys, it’s helps me not feel so alone!

    21
  22. The same people who want to defend themselves against a “tyranical Government” with guns are the same ones defending the huge budget for the department of Defense for advanced weapons??? Does this make sense to anyone?

    22
  23. @Lyntilla, 10:45 am-1:30pm. Please come.

    @Carol, I know, right?

    23
  24. Aggieland liz says:

Um, these people don’t even know the same words that I know! How are we meant to communicate?! And a little tyranny would do some of those yokels a world of good. Persecution too!

    24
  25. Is it legal to yell Ready, Aim, Fire at a gun show?

Brought to you by: ” Fire at Will ” committee
    for insanity.

    25
  26. Uncle Dave says:

Mrs. UD read something from the Sunday Dallas Morning Snooze about some genious defending his “God given constitutonal right to bear arms. Two thougts: 1. Do these clowns ever worry about their rights to assemble, free speech, or the writ of habeas corpus, or is it always about guns? 2. If our constitutional rights are God given, why has it been necessary to amend the Constitution twenty-seven times? Did God have a change of heart or did he just get it wrong the first time?

    26
  27. I can’t bring a “personal firearm” to the Dixie Gun Show? What happened to my 2nd Amendment rights?

    27
  28. “And in other glorious gun news, only 5 people got shot at Gun Appreciation Day rallies yesterday. And Dick Cheney wasn’t even there.”

Way to go NC! So proud of my state for representin’ that stupid is everywhere.

  29. Here is a local report about the shooting at the gun show in Raleigh…
    http://www.wral.com/raleigh-gun-show-reopens-after-accidental-shooting/12002981/

Ok….an accidental shooting makes me feel so much better than one that was done with intent. Sheesh………here’s your sign Kathy.
“It made me a little nervous, but then, I heard it was an accident,” said Kathy Froehlich.
