Turning Texas Blue

August 12, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The last major hold on Texas flipping is Tarrant County. Think Fort Worth.  Think Dallas without the culture, pleasing architecture, and JR Ewing.

Every other large Texas county has flipped.  Two years ago, Beto got more votes in Tarrant county than Ted Cruz. So, Republicans in Tarrant County have taken to the mattresses and got their game plan in order to keep Tarrant County red.

And here it is.

“We need Republicans who are calling for the deportation of all illegals, the DACA babies, the anchor babies, & more,” continued the July post that pointed at a recent Tarrant County vote to let sheriff’s deputies continue working as ICE agents. “We must allow AND give cover to those with more extreme views on the right wing of the party.”

The post calls for supporting an “American Nationalist party.”

The Fort Worth Star Telegram covered the story and didn’t get much push-back from “mainstream” Republicans.

“Let’s finish what Trump started and capitalize on the yearning for an American Nationalist party and put these Bolsheviks in their place,” it stated. “We must look to the future and not just offer criticisms, but offer the American people a strong vision of sanity for our increasingly insane country.”

Bolsheviks?  They’re calling us Russians? That’s fun.

I do like how they changed the name to American Nationalists instead of the preferred nomenclature White Nationalists.

Thanks to Randall for the heads up.

The Republicon love of laundered Russian money has certainly confused their position vis a vis “the” Russians. Whatever will they do once Donnie and Putin are no longer in the picture?

Their scapegoating of an imaginary border crisis has reached a level of insanity beyond the craziness that led to Nazism. Ike’s cruelty with Gen. Joseph Swing running suffocating deportation trains pales in comparison to the lengths these ghouls would trample our laws and international law to inflict maximum cruelty. Even Ike knew the problem was with employers exploiting labor for profit, not workers/immigration. Real problems with imaginary solutions creating bigger problems is the Republicon way.

  2. I read part of the screed JJ quoted. They want to deport all illegals, DACAs, “anchor babies and more.” I don’t know who the more is, but I do know that “anchor babies” are US citizens. These people are disgusting. We must destroy them before they destroy the country.

  3. Now, Juanita, I lived in Tarrant County for 26 years. My husband and I were two of the few blue dots in that red county, but Fort Worth (where my Dad was born and raised) has got some great things going for it. Think how great it would be if we could bring all that Fort Worth culture into our blue tent!

Don’t take it personally, Cindy. After all, I live in Tom DeLay’s backyard for two decades. I still live there but he gets far fewer party invitations that I do now! Honey, I will come to Fort Worth to celebrate with you!

Wow! Tarrant County Republicans don’t leave much doubt about whose side they’re on, do they? When did they develop such an admiration for Trump’s BFF Vlad’s rhetoric and methods? Why are they so willing to break US laws? Oh, of course–if they don’t cheat and get Russian help, their candidate for president is going to lose.

  6. I remember the time that Dallas County was Red and Tarrant County was Blue.

That was before the era of Microsoft(tm) and personal computers, and IBM(tm) and Univac(tm) ruled the data processing world!

Cindy@3 I’ll back you up on Fort Worth. The Kimbell and the Carter are great museums, Bass Hall is pretty fancy, and Texas Ballet Theatre is quite a nice company. Plus, I appreciate that FW didn’t tear down all the cool Art Deco architecture and replace it with soulless glass towers like Dallas and Houston did. But, Wowzers!, those repubs up there are scary! Sounds like they’re ready to haul folks off to ‘camps’ without a second thought.

  8. Pink! Green! Polka Dot! They are nothing but a tired re-run of the Know Nothings of the 19th Century and hence, have not a damn thing to offer!

  9. It takes a lot of chutzpah for conservative Texans (“Independent Republic of Texas, y’all!) to ask to form an “American” nationalist party. They’ve been advocating secession for, well ever since they were accepted into the union.

  10. He is scared for a reason – the democratic women in that county are taking names and kicking butt. Go to http://tarrant-together.com/ to see what they are up to and throw them a little money. I am taking the virtual training to help with their next phone bank. You can too.

  11. If we’re Bolsheviks, does that mean they’re Mensheviks? Cool. We know how that turned out. Or maybe it means they’re White Russians. Cool. We know how that turned out.

I was thinking the same thing. They don’t mind Trump palling around with terrorists or taking Russian money. Or Russian women having ‘anchor babies’ at Trump hotel in Florida and NY.

So what does that say about them??
    They are scared.

You need to close the shop and visit Cowtown. Culture second to Big D, hell no! My friends in Dallas envy Fort Worth’s art museums: The Kimbell,The Modern, The Amon Carter; and they envy Fort Worth hosting the Van Cliburn.
