They Were Bored

Senate Republicans, who literally have nothing to do because Trump does it all for them, tackled one of the most important issues of our time. These are life or death times and Republicans knew that spending time on this vital issue could be what saves America:  they removed the measure demanding that candidates who are offered help or assistance from a foreign country report it.

Phew! I’ll sleep better tonight.  Wait, wait, I didn’t mean me, I meant Putin will sleep better tonight.

A measure requiring presidential campaigns to report any attempts by foreign entities interfering in U.S. elections was stripped by Senate Republicans as a condition of passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in a “backroom deal” Sen. Mark Warner, D-VA., said Tuesday.

I don’t know, y’all.  Now Trump is saying he’ll veto the same bill if we change the names of military bases from the currently honored traitors to true American heroes.

Call their bluff and stop all this Support The Troops crapola that Republicans think they own.

  1. What about if we put something in the bill for everyone? Whenever a Confederate name is removed from a military base, it’s replaced with the name of an American election manipulator by a foreign entity, and the candidate they assisted. Fort Trump-Putin anyone?

That way, Republicans can still have the names of traitors on the facilities, but newer, more up to date traitors.

Are Senate Republicans TRYING to demonstrate how little they respect the Constitution and American independence from foreign influence in our elections? If that’s what they’re doing, they’re doing a fine job. I hope it turns around and bites them.
    Paging the ACLU. . . .

Edit: Jim Clyburn scolds Republicans for refusing to wear face masks during coronavirus hearing.

Go sit in the time out room if you can’t follow the rules!
Automatic ejection by Clyburn for anyone not wearing a face mask… talking to you, Gym Jordan, Steve Scalise et al.
Clyburn has asked members who do not wish to wear a mask to participate in future hearings remotely. (can you hear me now?)

  4. The Washington Post has an article about how the guys who served with/under Clint Lorance have been doing since Drumpfkopf pardoned him. Not pretty.

Remember Khizr and Ghazala Khan and their son Captain Humayun Khan? Trump has been slandering the troops and their families since before he took office. No reason to stop now.

How can servicepeople and veterans support him?

Further proof the R in front of their names stands for Russia.

Buttermilk Sky, this family of veterans have never supported a Republicon. But all of us have been places that confirmed Republicons do not support the military and never have. Last conservative to nearly tell the truth did do by accident. That was Rumsfeld when he said, “You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.” That was the day conservatives should have been stopped dead in their tracks by a demand for an accounting of all the $trillions spent on the military and asked why the front lines of the military were ill equipped.

Translating the Rummy to the dummie Toddler-in-Thief* would probably covfefe along the lines of, “while I am ‘commander’ we do what Putin wants.”

I hope this helps send His majesty and his toady Cornyn on extended vacations. They might want to check out countries without extradition treaties.

Well the last thing the Republicans want is to report Saudi or Israeli financing.

Is there a way to stop this? Can the House get this unconstitutional trash out of the bill?
