The Mississippi Mess

February 10, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The Mississippi Mess from last Friday is becoming ten pounds of Republican embezzlement in a five pound bag.

It’s going federal now.  Well, at least until Bill Barr finds out about it and changes the investigation to Democrats who willfully breathed free air in Mississippi.

So it turns out that the nonprofit at the center of the Mississippi embezzlement scandal got millions of dollars in federal funds.  The federal grant money doubled in 2018 – after Senator Cindy Hyde Smith was appointed to the Senate, which is beginning to look kinda fishy.

In 2017, records show nearly $13 million in federal grant money flowed into the coffers of the Mississippi Community Education Center, the nonprofit organization used as the vehicle for a massive conspiracy and embezzlement scheme.

That grant money doubled in 2018 to nearly $27 million.

It’s unclear how much of that was actually utilized as intended, to help the poorest Mississippians in difficult times of need.

I’m betting none of it. At least as long as a Trump supporting Republican was holding the checkbook.

  1. What’s the point of working in conservative politics if you can’t indulge in a little graft, self-enrichment, or outright fraud?

Those poor people in Mississippi should be thankful God sent them someone to ensure their donations made it to elect Republican politicians around the country.

  2. I’ll never understand why these grifters keep thinking that they’ll never get caught.

  3. Where are the Republicons? They love to talk every aspect of welfare and voter fraud, except for the part about who commits it. For that they send them to the Senate or WH. Cindy Hyde Smith, the sequel to Rick Scott Medicare fraud, and Donnie* pResident voter fraud.

  4. Not just Mississippi. The current mayor of Jacksonville is also under federal investigation for attempting to steal (sell?) the best publicly-owned utility in the country without any reason or public call to do so. Can’t have examples of successful socialism running around in plain sight. Can’t have it! Besides, there are millions in fees and bonuses at stake.

In Republicanland, only the rich get good socialism, everybody else can go suck hind tit.

  5. I went to the second link, read it, and found something else, the opposite end of the spectrum from these slimy crooks. It’s how a small town is struggling after some ICE raids. I did a little tracking and found the name of the United Methodist pastor, Sheila Cumbest, whose church is helping the townspeople with food and utilities, etc. Take a look at the article.

This looks like a good place to give them a little added help.
