Six. This Makes Six.

September 30, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Texas Republican congressman Mac Thornberry just announced that he will be retiring at the end of his term.

That makes six Republican congressmen from Texas not seeking re-election.

Thornberry was elected on Newt Gingrich’s Contract With America and represents the 13th congressional district.  He represents the panhandle, an area of Texas that went 80% for Trump.

While his retirement doesn’t come as a major shock, the GOP primary for this seat is going to add more fun to the Trumpathon.

  1. Ms. Juanita Jean Herownself, how about a pool to bank money for turning Texas Blue? The one to pick the number closest to the number of Con defections necessary for the Republicons to ditch Mitch and Donnie. Keeping the Blue Tsunami rolling on the House is great. Wait until the Senate starts cracking …

All us old folks remember a key plank in the “Contract on America” : term limits. This pettifogger has been in congress for 25 years, so obviously that was term limits for democrats, no limits for republicans.

And since I was never (successfully) committed: isn’t Wichita Falls where the Texas state nut house is? I mean, the one run by psychiatrists – not the one run by lawyers in Austin.

I read a nice long bio of John Cornyn today, basically saying his life’s work has been to coddle the wealthy and corporations, and collect tens of millions from them to fund the GOP’s oligarchical coup of the past 20 years. I’ve got to wonder if our billionaire overlords will figure out in time that a lawless President-for-Life Trump will have no restraint from robbing them of their last dime. Cornyn won’t tell them, unless his Exxon handlers slip up and give him the wrong script for the day.

Republican Rep. Chris Collins of New York has resigned from Congress, effective Tuesday, according to Bloomberg News reporter Erik Wasson.

He submitted his resignation letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Monday, Wasson found, and it will be read from the floor the following day. Earlier reports on Monday revealed that Collins intends to plead guilty on federal securities charges, first brought by prosecutors before the 2018 election. Wasson won his re-election despite the cloud of the charges hanging over him.

At the time, President Donald Trump lashed out at then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Justice Department for bringing charges against Collins and another Republican, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California. Collins was the first sitting member of Congress to endorse Trump for president in the 2016 GOP primary.

California Republican is accused of spending more than $250,000 in campaign money on partying, vacations, personal expenses A federal appeals court agreed Wednesday to hear Rep. Duncan Hunter’s argument to dismiss the corruption case against him, potentially stalling the start of his trial slated for January 2020.

Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were indicted on 60 charges in August of last year for spending more than $250,000 in campaign funds on personal expenses, including foreign travel, children’s school tuition and theater tickets, and for filing false campaign finance reports with the Federal Election Commission.

Not to worry though, Darrell Issa is running for his seat. Gaah!

When is that Gaia impeachment of bipeds living on the planet supposed to start?

A little bell rang in my head about Newtie … as soon as he mounted his “contract with America” I immediately thought, “no, that’s contract ON America”.
