Heads Up

November 06, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Guys, I am going to be working on the ballot board all day today keeping our county’s ballot by mail program safe and fun.

So, here’s a couple of things:

Outsmart Time!  Enjoy!  You can comment here or over there.

Later this week once everything is set up properly, I will ask you to donate to the Juanita Jean/Glen Maxey Ballot By Mail program again this year.  I am targeting the small counties along the coast who got hit by Harvey the worst.  Many folks don’t have a permanent home yet, so tracking them down so they can vote is vitally important.  Plus, these counties are where most of the Republicans in Congress and the State House you love to hate are running, so you’re getting double your money’s worth. After those are covered, we will start with all the other small counties in Texas who need help with the expense.  Y’all have never let me down and it’s more important than ever this year.  Remember that ballot by mail applications are god for a year in Texas.

I’m telling you all this now so you can go start collecting all the quarters from your sock drawer and behind the washing machine.

If you know anyone in Texas who is free this weekend, they might enjoy this.  Glen and I will be in Bell County to help them raise money for their ballot by mail program.  You can get tickets here.

Entertain yourselves and I’ll check in at lunch and any breaks we have.

The Horror

November 05, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

I cannot begin to imagine the horror of people trapped in a church with no chance against a semiautomatic weapon.

I am very familiar with Comal County (the accent is on the first syllable  – KO-maul).  I have never been to Sutherland Springs but I am certain I have at least driven through it.

I do not know why the governor felt the need to open the press conference with a smile and a spirited defense of Texas.  This is a law enforcement matter.  We should be listening to the sheriff.

It’s never going to end, is it?

Who Really Counts?

Okay the numbers are in and it appears the Astros came out on top.

Approximately one million fans attended the event [the parade downtown], and that number could rise, according to Susan Christian with the City of Houston. Mayor Sylvester Turner dubbed the event the largest parade in Houston history.

On the other hand, the top end of the estimates of the crowd at Trump’s inauguration is 600,000.

So, why would anybody even ask this question?

Louie and Fellow Travelers

Louie Gohmert has made friends and converts.

Let’s head out to Phoenix, Arizona …

Conservative members of Congress, including Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs, introduced a resolution on Friday that would remove special counsel Robert Mueller from the investigation of the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

Biggs co-sponsored the resolution with two other GOP lawmakers, Congressmen Matt Gaetz of Florida and Louie Gohmert of Texas.

Their reasoning?  They believe the recent indictments are “arguably outside the special counsel’s jurisdiction” and prove that there was no Trump-Russia collusion.

Yeah, but Ken Starr was supposed to investigate blow jobs?

And they are just damn sure that Mueller can’t be fair because “he has surrounded himself with highly partisan lawyers who make a special practice to line the coffers of Democrats.”

Hey, at least they know Trump is guilty and are going to, how did Trump put it?, DO SOMETHING!

Thanks to Larry for the heads up.

Okay, I Have To Admit …

… that if I were Rand Paul’s neighbor, I’d have been in jail years ago.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was assaulted at his home on Friday, according to police.

A neighbor of Paul’s, Rene Boucher who is an anesthesiologist, blindsided Paul and tackled him, causing minor injuries.

Boucher’s altercation with Paul left the senator having difficulty breathing as a result of a “possible rib injury” in addition to bleeding from cuts around his mouth. Paul was seeking medical help for his injuries, the warrant said.

The FBI was on the scene to determine if the alleged assault had been politically motivated.

Politically motivated?  God, I hope so.  I’d hate to waste a blindsided tackle on something like not cleaning up dog poop.

Thanks to SGray for the heads up.

Best Thing All Week

Rick, one of our long-time customers, sent me this picture taken of his group in Hawaii greeting Trump.

Welcome to Kenya!  Isn’t that fabulous?  It is fabulous.
