“The Usain Bolt of Stupid”

February 08, 2018 By: El Jefe

Colbert was on a roll last night, mocking His Orangeness for his latest idiocy of demanding a huge military parade to honor himself.  Calling him the “Usain Bolt of stupid,” Colbert said that Trump was his own competition for idiotic ideas.  He also advised Trump to ignore his attorneys and take on Robert Mueller.  It’s was pretty entertaining.  Have look:

Swamp Tours

February 07, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

If you’ll hop right on this flat boat here, Dewayne and Clive will take you on a tour of the DeeCee Swamp.

Hey, look right over there at the latest nominee to the Environmental Protection Agency, Andrew Wheeler, who is not only a coal lobbyist, but also has given major fundraisers for some real special people.

Wheeler, who was first rumored to be tapped for the EPA last March, raised funds for Republican senators on the committee that makes the preliminary decision on confirming appointments to the agency.

One of them was Jim Inhofe, a worthless Republican from Oklahoma, where Wheeler spent 14 years as a staffer.  Wheeler became a coal lobbyist in 2009 and since then has spent day and night snorting and stomping over the Obama coal regulations.  ‘Cuz what we need is way more coal accompanied by black lung disease.

This is just the latest, but it’s fresh and it sends a signal that the swamp is only getting stinkier.  Hold you nose – mixing coal and a swamp will knock you out.

Thanks to Henry for the heads up.

Vanity, Thy Name is Trump

February 07, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

New York Magazine.

Warning: You cannot unseen this.

Trump is a man obsessed with image in ways that go beyond the normal human concern with looking presentable. Image is Trump’s moral code. He dismisses his political rivals for being short. He sees his succession of wives as visual testament to his own status. He selects his Cabinet on the basis of their looking the part. He conscripts the military as a prop to bathe himself in an aura of presidential grandeur.

And no, we do not do Trump’s hair at The World’s Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.  Nor would we. We have standards.

I mean, it ain’t like he’s Sampson, he can cut that stuff.

Not for the faint of heart —

Like seeing Vader without his helmet, right?

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

I Love a Parade!

February 07, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

This is just an idea I had.  Okay, so it’s not fleshed out fully, but it’s just an idea.

You know how Trump is demanding a military parade so he can prove to French President Macron that his twinkle isn’t as small as it appears to be?

The cost of shipping equipment and hardware to DeeCee could run in the millions and military officials have no idea how the hell to pay for it. The weight of the tanks and missile launchers will destroy Pennsylvania Avenue which wasn’t built to handle their weight. We the taxpayers will be the ones footing the bill for this parade to commemorate his royal ego.

To recap: the coward who received five draft deferments to avoid service in Vietnam, mocked a P.O.W. as a “loser” for being captured, trashed talked the parents and the wife of soldiers kill in action, and lied about donating to veterans organizations wants the women and men of the Armed Forces to stage a costly, pointless parade at our expense.

Here’s my idea.  Let’s make it safe and festive.

Let’s make large balloons depicting our military hardware and our Dear Leader.  It’s fitting.  He is, after all, a hot air buffoon.

Hey, Mexico will pay for it – they already have Dear Leader ready to go.

Thanks to Deb for the heads up.

Starman

If you missed the launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy today, put down your baked potato and nice red wine and watch this.  Trust me.

The launch today was from launchpad 39A at Cape Kennedy, made famous over 40 years ago when it was the setting of the Apollo missions to the Moon.  During those days, as a much younger El Jefe, I sat for untold hours watching on that crappy little 13 inch black and white television our effort to reach the stars.  At the height of the war in Vietnam, in which I fully expected to perish, our country was reaching beyond our atmosphere and gravity to touch another body in the heavens, the Moon.  The Moon missions transported me from the death and destruction on nightly television; indescribable even today, the emotion I felt during these missions carried me away from those dark days all the way through young adulthood.  I survived those times from two gigantic influences – out-of-control-ear-splitting rock-and-roll, and those thrilling missions to reach the moon.  I told you it was indescribable.

All of those memories came flooding back today when Falcon Heavy launched from the precise center of my youthful imagination.  Today, though, rather than carrying precious human lives of the past Apollo missions, atop that roaring machine was an icon almost more important – a symbol of modern society’s sense of adventure, technological development, and just a little bit of fun.  The payload for this ride was Elon Musk’s personal Tesla Roadster, complete with a mannequin, wearing SpaceX prototype spacesuit in the driver’s seat..  The passenger, dubbed Starman, will ride in the Tesla in an orbit around the Earth and Mars for all time.  And the great thing?  You can watch it live.  On YouTube.

Welcome to the New World.  Enjoy.  I am.
