Okay, Okay, Get Away From the Edge of Whatever the Hell Republicans Are Falling Off

September 05, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It’s James Sensenbrenner now.

Wisconsin Republican Jim Sensenbrenner, the second longest-serving member of the U.S. House of Representatives, will not run for a 22nd term, he said Wednesday.

Sensenbrenner made his first public announcement Wednesday on The Mark Belling Show on WISN-AM (1130).

In a separate interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he said, “I think the time has come to basically turn over the page in the 5th District.”

Oh Honey, that time came and went a decade ago.

It’s gonna be a rough year for Republicans. They know they can’t win back the House and fear that Democrats will treat them just like they treated Democrats.

Be social and share!

    Very good riddance.

  2. Wish I agreed, Juanita. But no. The damn Democrats will elect Reach-Across—the Aisle Biden… The appalling white, straight dinosaur…..and immediately begin to compromise…..IF they win…..which is unlikely since the Repukes play serious hard ball, and lie, cheat, and steal as a matter of course.

  3. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch.

  4. Dang! I’m old enough to remember when Sensenbrenner won a lottery prize. It wasn’t much but he made a big deal of it on TV with his sons. He was “teaching” them the meaning and value of money. The teenage kids were scared to death of him (he sat in between then on a “love seat”). He’s a nasty control freak. There are people you don’t want to run into in a dark alley. Well, you would;t want to run into him in broad daylight.

  5. Kary, I have no love of Sensenbrenner, and I doubt he will be missed. But compromise is what makes the whole system work. We’re in the mess we have now in large part because years ago McConnell and a bunch of tea party folks decided they would never compromise on anything. If we’ve learned anything from this we should know that if you insist on getting everything you want, you’ll cripple the whole system and end up getting nothing.

  6. I don’t know if it’s fortunate or unfortunate but Democrats will NEVER treat Republicans as they have been treated.

On second thought, I guess it is good for democracy itself, that they don’t — but, as a result, the Republicans never learn to work and play well with others.

But, remember the last time the Democrats took the Senate back? Harry Reid kept the same rules the R’s had had in place for years — but for only 100 days. And how the Republicans HOWLED! They called him a dictator — and worse. They never seemed to grasp the irony that he was simply keeping THEIR OWN RULES — and for only 3 months, at that.

    6
  7. Mr. B 5:
What you’re saying is true — however: BOTH sides need to compromise if the system is to work. If only one side does so, it’s not compromise but dictatorship.

President Obama and Biden bent over backward to work with the Republicans and got walked on. The R’s knew they could get away with it because there was a black guy in the WHITE House — but now that they DID get away with it, I fear there will be no stopping them.

Just as Supreme Court justice Merrick Garland if I’m right.

  8. Grandma Ada says:

I wonder how much money in their campaign/pac funds they can keep for themselves with the help of a lawyer? I remember when Colbert “ran” for President, established a pac and then with his lawyer showed how he could turn it into his on personal $$.

    8
  9. Complacent Republicans stand by as Trump Makes America Trump-like For The First Time. They don’t want to go through a campaign season associated with him in one way or the other. They’d rather end their careers with the smallest shred of dignity, because the people who vote for and support them haven’t yet figured out what is happening. Haven’t seen what they see on a daily basis.

    9
  10. Well it looks like Maine has a cuellar aas well.
Another fake D representative, jared golden, who has decided that he would rather stay on the good sid of the thuglican ideologue collins rather then take a stand.
So he made formal statement of nuetrality by praiseing collins while damning with faint praise the leading D challenger to that demented donnie acolyte.
So when is the dccc going to cut him off from all support and blackball any conultants who work for him?
Oh I forgot thuglican lites are the prefered candinates for the dccc can’t allow any of those pesky progressives in they might challenge the wing nut wlfare programs these confidence people are planning on retiring into.
Unless the D’s ashcan these bogus fools nothing will get done except the d’s will get painted as being incompetent at governing with these moles joining with thuglicans to torpedo anything that would be helpful for the country.
Aftr all protecting their wealthy “freinds” is the most important part of their job. Just look at schumer and booker making sure their mutual fund managers and wall street folk never have to worry about answering for their immoral greed.

    10
  11. Wasn’t Sensenbrenner the one who wanted people on SNAP to have a separate part of the market with cheap canned goods and peanut butter to basically be their only options?

If so . . . . . Any door that hits him in his saggy butt —is a good door.

    11
  12. Rick: I agree with most of what you said. But to me, Trump-like is a return to what our country was for most of it’s history before liberals showed up and slowly changed it.
Maga is truer than most like to admit. As long as the great part means great for the rich.
Jim Wright’s latest piece on Stonekettle Station about Labor Day is a pretty good reminder of what we’ve gained, and what’s being taken away.
With the sadistically gleeful help of many of the same folks who are having it taken away from them. Because they’ve been brainwashed so well to believe that “immigrants, gays, gun-haters, god-haters, you know, liberals” are the ones taking it away.

    12
  13. Let me clarify the situation a bit.

BOTH sides need tocompromise consent … If only one side does so

    it’s rape.

The Republicans have long ago decided to do away with “the just consent of the governed”, and to rule or ruin in all things.

    13
  14. thuglican lites are the prefered candinates for the dccc can’t allow any of those pesky progressives in

    You’re slightly confused.

The DCCC is a club, composed of House incumbents, run by House incumbents, funded mainly by House incumbents, for the benefit of House incumbents.

It will never be anything else: that’s its mission, and the reason it was created.

So you’re angry at a dump truck because it doesn’t go 75 on the freeway and corners badly. It’s a category error.

If you’re looking for a Democratic Party organization that seeks to create a more liberal America, that would be the DLCC, a completely different organization, with a focus on statehouses and grassroots.

    I disagree.
Ever since rahm put his stamp on the dccc it has been run by his acolytes who prefer to recruit thuglicans who are willing to change their registration while maintaining their trogolyte ideology.
He used to his position to waste money and support in sabotaugeing progressive candinates whenever possible.
He started by air dropping his obedient minion in on the IL 6 primary, where Hyde was retiring, and used DCCC money and influence to lose the race that a progressive, Cegalis, had put into play.
But after active opposition and funds from the dccc the d’s lost it to a thuglican, which was rahm’s preference. Same in each subsequent election cycle here the dccc has shown they would rather lose to a thuglican then allow a progressive to get in.
Directly counter to your idea that it is only for incumbents in N. Virginia they are helping a challenger in the primary against a progressive D incumbent.
In open seats or challenges to thuglican incumbents the dccc will always try to either torpedo a progressive candinate in favor of a thuglican lite such as lipinski, cuellar and all to many others, or starve the progressive of funds and support in the general.
The DCCC uses d money to promote those who accept thuglican framing and thuglican policies over progressive initiatives.
If by some chance a Progressive has beaten one of the dccc’s chosen losers, even in situation where there is NOT a D incumbent, they then withhold campaign funding and support then complain about the candinate.
They have done this across the country Kentucky, Texas, Penn etc.
So NO it is not just an incumbent protection agency it is more an extension of the thuglican congressional campigns.

  17. Sam in Superior says:

In Wisconsin, we’re giddy about this tool leaving the House and about our representative Sean Duffy (married to a Fox News contributor) retiring. Despite the redistricting done by the GOP, there’s an excellent chance to flip both seats. Across the border, Minnesota voters will reject Republican Rusty Stauber who only won because he was running against a worse candidate than he was.

    17
  18. So what about Walkers baby boy running for sensebrenner’s seat?
