Okay, I Changed My Mind

April 06, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Remember this morning when I said that Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modley should be fired?

Well, I listened to his speech, and I’ve changed my mind.

He should either be sent to a psychiatric hospital or be jailed. Firing ain’t enough for the horrid messages he tried to send to our men and women defending this country.

See what you think.  And see if you can hear any of the background from the crew onboard the ship. They were not pleased. The guilt he tried to lay on soldiers, some of them dying, is shameful and unpatriotic.  It was manipulative and disgusting.

Shame on him. This man wouldn’t know courage if it bit him on the butt and God knows it should.

Thanks to Deb T for the heads up.

We no, actually y’all paid (some of us weren’t born yet) for that covidiot’s ring knocker military education. You might want to demand your money back first, then smack his head with the nearest blunt object which would hopefully be Covidiot* 45’s four cornered blunt cranium. Two teams of two grabbing each covidiot by the scruff of the neck running them toward each other for a meeting of the mindless.

“The guilt he tried to lay on soldiers…et an.”

JJ, Please stop referring to US Navy [and Coast Guard or any naval forces*] personnel as “soldiers”. Them’s fighting words in some places.

The proper word in this, or any, context, is “sailor(s)”, from a USN recruit to an admiral.
–Only Army personnel are termed “soldiers”.–
As members of the USMC are “Marines” [always capitalized], and the USAF, “airmen”; no matter the context.

    * Particularly during WWII, the US Army actually operated many naval support vessels, not sure whether those soldiers aboard them were called sailors.

    OT:
UK PM Boris Johnson, with worsening COVID19, has now been moved to an ICU. He began symptoms almost a fortnight ago, went to hospital on Sunday. Last time I saw him interviewed on BBC tv a few days ago he looked ragged.

“Over the course of [Monday] afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.””

And still our SOBOTUS persists in his daily bullshit and tweets. If only ….

After listening to Covidiot Modley, I am sure he is lying about the communications between Captain Crozier and Modley’s chief of staff.

Sure of it. During my last two years of high school, my father was Senior Chief Petty Officer, running the quite large Boca Chica Naval Air Station. I heard many, many stories like this–problems transmitted to higher-ups, never acknowledged, then communications lied about.

And besides, Modley is just another sycophantic face-saver for Trump.

“Manipulative and disgusting” pretty much sums up the entire Cabinet, as well as the present President of the United States, doesn’t it? None of them are fit for their jobs. In any other administration, they would never, ever, have been hired.

I found a long audio recording of Modly on Task and Purpose

It includes text commentary though I don’t know who from. That and comments from the sailors.

Thanks, Sandridge. Whenever I see “marines” without the M, my blood pressure goes up, though not as much as when I catch a glimpse of the Collaborator in Chief and his appointees.

I apologize, Sandridge. As the proud daughter, sister, niece, and mother of veterans, I should have known better. My anger and fear is getting the best of me lately. That’s a poor excuse, and I apologize for that, too.

Sorry, Elizabeth. I’ll try to do better.

O/T But just for a little needed schadenfreude and karma fun, remember George Papadopoulos? His wife is on Twitter announcing that she is divorcing him.

  15. With the reports of amazon putting their employee’s at risk so as to squeeze every last penny out of their efforts when are we going to see cuomo and others apolagize and thank AOC for her work in preventing NY from subsidizing an unhealthy exploitive company from sucking more money from the NY taxpayers.

    15
  16. Sandridge says:

    Elizabeth Moon @11, Semper Fi.

JJ @12, Certainly no apology needed. We’re all rattled and enraged 24/7, it’s been a living hell since January 2017 under the tRump regime of fools.
We’ve been one step away from a cataclysmic event the whole time and it looks like it has arrived.
Bad enough news every few minutes, then you hear NYC is running out of morgue space, the extra refrigerated trucks are nearly full, and they may start temporarily burying people in the parks until the MEs and undertakers can catch up. And it might yet be worse in some places that are still ignoring the ‘hoax’ [like AR, SC].

We all need a drink, hunker down, take care, and survive until November when we can rid the nation of the worst plague vectors ever.

Morley, I think we’re all okay here. My son is a zoomie. He says he was in the United States Chair Force. The fellas at the VFW introduce him to new folks by saying, “This is Bubba. He was almost in the military – he spent 8 years in the Air Force and got his handicap down to 6. We’re real proud of him.”

Okay, let’s get serious. I am an incident commander for a search and rescue group. What we do is flat out dangerous. And my number one priority — each time, every time — is the safety of my volunteers.

    I don’t have a badge. I don’t have a gun. I don’t get paid.

But I have had to face down — in front of his troops — a local police department lieutenant who didn’t want to do the paperwork to cover my volunteers for line of duty injuries. Not a problem.

Captain Brett Crozier, USN, has my utmost respect. He acted for the safety of the men and women under his command. Good job.

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly is just another asshole I would enjoy running over as I work to keep my volunteers safe.

    21
  22. Sandridge says:

JJ @19&20, Thank –you–, for all you and yours do for all of us. One of my s-i-ls was an AF pilot, then plain ‘chair-force’; another s-i-l is active CG and occasionally aircrew/airdale/zoomie, though usually leading SAG controllers at Sector [SeaAirGround]. [“Airdales” is the usual USCG term for aviators, and Navy]

    .
And thank you too, slipstream. SAR, volunteer or pro/military, is an exceedingly dangerous undertaking in many instances [though ELTs, PLBs, GPS, sats, etc have made it much easier].

  24. With my seventeen years in the Navy, that was the most unhinged disgusting display I ever heard from a civilian leader to a command.

In the military you sort of expect civilian politicians to crap on you occasionally; it’s sort of par for the course.

But an unhinged rant attacking freedom of the press (something all military personnel affirm or swear to defend as part of the Constitution), a presidential candidate (which would be a violation of the UCMJ if a sailor did it), whinging about how badly the Acting Secretary was being treated back in Washington while your commanding officer was doing his duty to protect his command and save your lives; all of that was the most shameful display I’ve ever witnessed in my life.

This will not just resonate amongst the officers and crew of the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Those men and women have husbands and wives, children and parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends and neighbours, all of whom will remember just which CinC it was who hired this [redacted] to assuage his Jupiter-sized ego.

They will remember who saved the lives of their family members and friends.

And every other command across all the Armed Services will know that they could be next for Trump’s wrath, along with their family and friends.

Veteran social media is absolutely livid.

If there is a better way for the GOP to lose the support of just about every active duty person, reservist, or veteran, I can’t think of one.

This would have been appalling enough if the TR was in Norfolk. Moldy flew halfway around the world to abuse Captain Crozier for the crime of embarrassing President Bonespurs. Now he’s climbing down on the “naïve and stupid” comment. Too little, too late.
