Oh Dear God. No, Seriously, Oh Dear God. Literally.

February 19, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Ted Cruz is going to be on the 700 Club and get washed in the blood of the lamb or something.

They are calling him The Great Conservative Hope.  As customer Dianne says, “I think they really wanted to call him The Great White Hope, but realized on a technicality they couldn’t.”

But, there is good news involved from this headline on the 700 Club website:

Oh, so he hasn’t noticed that NOBODY has seriously mentioned his name.

Here’s the part I don’t get.  He’s Cuban, born in Canada, and lists his religion as Southern Baptist.  Not just Baptist, but Southern Baptist.  You know the difference, don’t you?  Baptists are Southern Baptist who can read, stopped using the N word twenty years ago, and have been known to drink a glass of champagne while dancing.

Thanks to Dianne for the heads up.

  1. Wait. If he was born in Canada, he *can’t* be president, right? Isn’t that what we learned from the birthers? Or does that rule only apply to people of (a darker) color (and the other party)?

These people make my freakin’ hair hurt.

They also apparently have the power to pull me out of lurkerdom.

We all knew Ted Cruz was going to be an embarrassment to our state. But most of us badly underestimated just how quickly that would happen.

  3. Are the righties gonna change the Constitution so Cruz can run for President? Seems I remember that one cannot run for President unless they are “natural born” citizens of the United States. Sorry Cruz, you lose!

  4. It all depends on when his ex-Fidel Castro-ite daddy became a citizen, before or after going to Canada? Kids of American parents born anywhere on this earth retain the parental citizenship. The same with Cuban kids born anywhere on this planet. Like gramiam says, Sorry Cruz, you lose!

  5. @Braxton Braggart: JJ knew from the git-go that Cruz would crash and burn. We’ve just got a bet going as to how soon.

It’s gonna be a long six years.

  7. I was raised in a Southern Baptist family, with a grandfather S.B. preacher. My dad used to say that one day Southern Baptists would drink in front of each other. I also heard the reason Southern Baptists did not have sex standing up is because they were afraid people would think they were dancing. According to your article, sounds like these old taboos have been abolished … at least some of them.

  8. JJ- your last 3 posts have forced me into a fetal position with my down comforter and pillow over my head..
    Make it Stop! Please!

  9. Perhaps Cruz thinks that going onto the 700 club will make give him automatic citizenship.

Funny thing about “natural born citizen”, my parents were US citizens (born in OK and TX respectively), but my sister was born in a German hospital because the Army Hospital in Wiesbaden was full and was contracting space to the local hospital system. They came back to the states less than a month later. She’s not eligible for the US Presidency (she even had to be naturalized when she turned 18)

  10. HEY…..I must have gone to the WRONG Southern Baptist Church all those years…I left a long time ago…..because they do NOT drink (HA) , smoke, dance, do not REALLY like nonwhites, ……are basically INTOLERABLE!!!!
I prefer the Church of the What’s Happening’ Now……

Born in Canada. If he can run, then so can Governor Granholm.

  12. He’ll file with a Hawaiian birth certificate. I hear they’re cheap.
@JT Your folks really messed up where your sister was concerned. All they had to do was go to the US Consulate in Germany and have a Certificate Of Live Birth to a US Citizen issued. She was a citizen at birth. I was born in Berlin under similar circumstances and have a consular birth certificate as proof of citizenship.

  13. @lless- Your initial remark is fixin to push my intolerance button.
Your second remarked could have been presented in a more respectful way as well.

  14. Texas is on Cruz-control for the next 6 years. (groan) Sorry, just had to throw that in.

They are calling him The Great Conservative Hope.

I might, too, keeping in mind that the bizarre dialect that was in force in my junior high school in 1980 used the word “hope” to mean “idiot.”

    15
  16. Wouldn’t that be something! During the next Republican primary, Democrats will be demanding Cruz’s birth certificate. Karma has run full circle!

  17. @SueN..His mother was a US citizen, married to a Cuban living in Canada. Unfortunately, Ted Cruz is a natural born US citizen.
