Houston Ain’t Puttin’ Up With No Damn Hootennanny

Houston mayor Sylvester Turner let it be known that he couldn’t stop Republicans from coming to Houston for their convention / viral spreading of epic proportions.

But, they better leave their attitude at home.

“Health inspectors will be on-site for the entire convention to ensure all guidelines are being followed,” Turner’s office tweeted. “If they are not, the inspectors have the authority to shut down the convention.”

Houston is following Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s order that everyone in Texas has to wear a mask once they leave their own front door.  Republicans made this bed. Let them sleep in it.

I think it’s a game they are playing with Houston’s Mayor.  They want Turner, a Democratic African American, to call off the convention so they can politicize him stopping their convention but not Black Lives Matter protests.  He won’t do it. Instead, he’s going to make them follow their own rules.

It might be fun to watch.

I’m concerned for the health of those who work there, however, Goobers On Parade may get the virus and be unable to vote in November. It sounds mean but I’m just done with them!

  4. There’s no sense in the hospitality people putting their employees at risk. Make all the trumpers pack all of their own sandwiches and bring from home.

I’m sorry, was it, Health inspectors or Dementors hovering at the convention?

Because you do know that chocolate is the perfect antidote for anyone who has been overcome in the presence of Dementors, which suck hope and happiness out of their surroundings. Chocolate can only be a short-term remedy, however.

  9. Question for JJ & other Texans here: my unemployed 30 yo son is looking for work and most of the openings are in Texas. He’s currently living with us in Oregon where COVID-19 cases are rising but our governor has been proactive so it’s been fairly sane. I’m worried about him moving to Texas – he’s anxious for work – his type of work is very competitive – but he’s willing to chance it. The current possibility is in Tyler. He would be in contact with the public some of the time and they are taking precautions to limit the numbers of visitors who are encouraged but not required to wear a mask (he would be). Should I be worried? Advise him not to move? His health is generally good, but as we know that’s no indication of how the virus will affect one.

Oh dear Hannah…how to put this….your Covid worries are valid but worse is that Louie Gohmert is the congressional representative for Tyler. That alone tells your son everything he needs to know about the place. But in an effort to find a positive, lovely roses though.
