Here’s My Deal

February 25, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I’m not a very lucky person when it comes to Bernie Sanders.

I want to make it perfectly clear that I like Bernie Sanders personally. I’ve had several opportunities over the years of being able to sit down with him and talk in small groups of three or four.  A long time real life friend of mine was Bernie’s campaign treasurer for his senate campaigns for years and years.  I like Bernie personally and I think he has some great ideas.

I cannot stand most of his supporters.

It’s kinda like I feel about Jesus – love the guy, but strongly dislike most of his supporters.

There’s a Bernie guy in my county who slithers out to lie, destroy, and secretly plot against candidates in the Democratic primary on Our Revolution letterhead. I called the head of Our Revolution to file a formal complaint and they told me that they don’t regulate who can use their name or letterhead. Seriously.

Bernie’s campaign tanked in Texas four years ago. For their Texas campaign manager, they hired a hack who had been fired by the Texas Democratic Party in a hotel hallway four years before (I’m serious about this. I was there. Not in the actual hallway but a few doors down.) for some creepily egregious behavior. The next time anyone sees him, he’s in charge of Texas for Burnie Sanders.

This time they hired a notoriously lazy guy who is unable to raise money, and who has run in four races all in a row and lost them all except the first one where he won by 100 votes in an 8,000 vote contest. The rest he  generally came in a distant third. Why would you hired that guy? It scares me think who he’d hire for Secretary of State.

These are just a few example because I have errands to run today.

I could go on and on.  I was thinking that I had just been unlucky meeting Bernie supporters. But, apparently not.  Apparently, I got off light.

You don’t have to read the whole article.  It’s gross beyond measure.

(Heavy sigh.)  I really do like Bernie personally.  And that’ a shame

Be social and share!

    I agree, Miss Juanita Jean!
I grew interested it some of Mr. Sanders’ proposals in 2012. Then he ran for president, and the ugliness started.
I am still shocked and appalled at the things coming out the mouths of his supporters – some of them young male lawyers I know who knew better.
If Mr. Sanders’ will not or cannot put a brake on their shit mouths and actions, what kind of leader would he be?
djt in a Bernie skin suit.

  2. Looks like another little incel twerp, that’s supposedly been fired.. Sanders needs to get these idiots under control.

  3. Daily Beast was running stories like that in Bernie’s first campaign (all Hillary, all the time) and the ramp up for this one hasn’t even gotten started yet. If the scumbags are ubiquitous, it falls to the campaign Mgr. to deal with it. Clones of Bernie think? Hardly.

Candidates show their values quite openly, others, not so much. For instance:

Desperate Joe Biden Lies About Being Arrested In South Africa
Edit: For about the last two weeks, Joe Biden has been telling another Joe Biden story and that is that back in 1977 while traveling in South Africa to go visit the imprisoned Nelson Mandela, Biden says that he and the UN ambassador at the time were arrested while they were trying to go visit Nelson Mandela all the way back in 1977.

This is absolutely the lowest, most disgusting and despicable form of pandering that we have seen absolutely during this entire campaign. And it’s coming from Joe Biden and he’s doing it because he’s desperate and he’s doing it because he has nothing else to lose at this point.

  4. PS. If its “gross beyond measure” You should hear a warning siren. I also remember reading that his campaign had to deal with “plants” to sabotage his election. The hot mess will boil up to preposterous heights.

  5. Grandma Ada says:

I’ve noticed that Bernie’s campaign has taken note of a Trump visual: he always has a stack of supporters behind him waving Bernie signs. Trump does that, with all the MAGA hats/shirts/signs. I always wonder how many people are really there besides the folk directly behind either of them.

  7. Ms. Juanita Jean Herownself, agreed. We supported Bernie in 2016, voted for Hilz in the general. 2020? We were undecided between Senators Warren and Sanders voting for each of them separately in rounds of caucus balloting. And, to be honest we are now more lukewarm than excited about Bernie. Bad enough fighting off the Russian troll farms and bots misrepresenting Bernie and posing as “Bernie Bros.” But these live action on the ground misfits right here in the USA? Something needs to be done about them. Yesterday. Whatever it takes firing and hiring, Bernie needs to hire someone he can trust to get that job done and get it done within the next couple of weeks. Maybe Kamala Harris knows someone, or Simone Sanders. But c’mon Bernie do not allow this festering problem, planted or otherwise, to continue.

  8. SteveTheReturned says:

Bernie’s supporters ruined a major Democratic site back in 2016 with their vile anti-Hillary behavior. And they ruined any chance of me supporting Bernie, as well. If, God forbid, it comes down to a Bernie vs. Trump contest, I’ll give Bernie my vote—then I’ll settle back and contemplate what actions are appropriate under a second Trump term, because I think that’s exactly what Bernie will inflict upon us. Thanks for nothing, Democratic Establishment.

    8
  9. meagasoid @6 brings up a good point. All of the Democratic candidates need to address the issues of sexism (Bernie), ageism (Amy), and racism (Pete) that are a creeping undertone in this campaign season. And, Magic Mike? No dude, just hell to the nizzie no with false information about any and all Democratic candidates. If you want to play that game, there is a Party for you, but it’s not the Democratic Party.

Imagine that. After 3+ years of Donnie* and we still have ethical standards. It’s who we are as Democrats. So buck up candidates and be the person who represents our values.

    9
  10. Bernie looked good on paper so I voted for him in the 2016 primaires. I happily voted for Hillary. Now I see Bernie as nothing but a grumpy old man. I live with a grumpy old man. Only because I’ve lived with him for 47 years do I put up with it.
I don’t want one as president.

In my considered opinion the country needs a firm and loving grandmother like Senator Professor Warren, not a grouchy grandpa.

    10
  11. Last time around I WAS a Bernie supporter. His was the first campaign I ever worked on. This time? Not so much.

    Here’s one reason:
I was on a FB page that is not political, generally, but it’s hard to keep politics out these days when the country is going to hell in a hand basket.
So someone came on and mentioned that she was having a hard time making up her mind and someone else ORDERED her to vote for Bernie.

Don’t you just hate it when you think of the perfect rejoinder when it’s too late?
After I left the page in disgust, it dawned on me that I needed to alert the guy that, if he didn’t want to be taken for a Russian troll, it would behoove him not to act as if this is an authoritarian nation and everyone has to vote for the one candidate HE will allow them to.

    11
  12. Linda Phipps says:

I will be passing on watching the debate tonight. I will get interested in the candidates when they start talking about some concrete changes and policies instead of throwing rocks at each other.

    12
  13. Elizabeth2 says:

I don’t see much daylight between Bernie and his rabid base, on the one hand, and Trump and his rabid base, on the other. Both seem to be utterly convinced that they’re right and everybody who doesn’t march in lock step with them is wrong. Part of Lincoln’s genius (and Obama’s, for that matter) was that he surrounded himself by people with opposing views. I don’t see either Trump or Bernie doing that, and I think it would baffle their followers if they did.

    13
  14. Seems like there is only on thing a candidate can really do – campaign for his or herself. Handling the reins on the campaign staff at the same time is impossible. Bernie had problems very early on with staffers, as you all might remember. This does bother me. Maybe je just does not like to herd cats.

    14
  15. Jason Elsome says:

The Sanders campaign fired the staffer today.

    15
  16. Larry from Colorado says:

There was only one perfect Jew, and they crucified him.
Bernie’s not perfect, but “they” are trying to crucify him too.

    16
  17. joel hanes says:

Narcicists, sociopaths, psychopaths, and borderline personalities are often very charming in person, especially if they have a use for you.

    17
  18. There’s one Sanders lover on my FB who posts dozens of pro Sanders crap every damn day. She swears there are conspiracies out to get him, that if he doesn’t get the nomination she and armies of like minded will not vote for the Democratic nominee, etc. She’s not a troll or bot. She’s someone I know in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

It’s the cultish nature of Sanders supporters that bothers me. It feels like blackmail. You nominate our guy our we’ll tank your entire party! Plus Sanders’ my way or the highway attitude.

I will Vote Blue, No Matter Who, but I’d prefer Warren for the “Who,” for sure.

    18
  19. Buttermilk Sky says:

It’s not only the supporters who are cultish. Campaign co-chair Nina Turner is very cozy with Jill Stein and might bolt to her (or Stein 2.0, Tulsi) if Bernie is “cheated” of the nomination. If ever there was a year for party solidarity — lesser of two evils, if you want to put it that way — this is it. We may not get another chance at democracy for a very long time if we louse this up.

    19
  20. I was interested in Bernie in 2016. Bought the shirts, donated to the campaign, and voted for him in the primary. Voted for Hilary in the general because she was the better choice.

Bernie came back to me last year, hat in hand and I said no. The actions of his followers after he lost that year showed me that the cult of personality following him was not the group I wanted to be part of. They are proving me right on this decision as we move along.

As a grumpy old man, I have been throwing what little I can toward Warren. She makes the most sense to me and she has accomplished much more on the political stage of this country than Bernie has, IMHO. If Bernie wins, I will vote for him. But he is not my first choice this time.

    20
  21. Hitting the nail on the head as usual, Ms JJ.
And that staffer who just got fired? Apparently the reporter who broke the story is getting doxxed and their phone spammed. Story about it on Crooks and Liars.
I don’t like a good number of Sanders’ self-described friends, or what the behavior of these friends and some campaign staff says about Sanders.

    21
  22. Have always believed Sanders had some great ideas. However, he has not impressed me with any ability to work well with others. I see in SOME of his followers the same relentless blind cult behavior of those who adore Trump. Certainly not all, but some have shown themselves to be unwilling to accept anyone but Bernie. As far as I am concerned they helped elect Trump and will do so again if that is the choice.

    22
  23. I voted for Bernie in the primary in 2016 and then for Hillary in the general. I will vote for Bernie again on Super Tuesday.

The only supporters of his I know are my cousin, a college friend and a friend from seminary. These are all reasonable people.

    Small sample, I know.

    23
  24. You hit the nail on the head.

    24
  25. I want to vote for Warren. I am voting for Bernie because I feel he has a chance to win it on the first ballot and she doesn’t. I am terrified of a brokered convention.

    25
  26. Harry Eagar says:

Little do I toil in the innards of Democratic Party politics (I’m a New Dealer so the 21st c. party has few attractions for me), but I can attest, from comments on friends’ Facebook posts, that there are a whole lot of really crappy Bernie Bros out there.

I don’t see the same around any other Democratic candidate.

    26
  27. Ormond Otvos says:

How is this story any different in intent than any other political dirt?

    Bernie’s ideas are good.

Any progressive/left candidate will have trouble “controlling” the cat herd.

Anecdotes aren’t data. Blue no matter.

    Including Bloomberg…

    27
  28. Harry Eagar says:

It’s different because a lot of the Bernie Bros are threatening to sit out the vote; that is not early as evident among the supporters of any other democratic candidate.

Sanders is destroying the Democratic Party, but what does he care? He isn’t a member.

    28
  29. Brenda white says:

Does anyone have a guess why Repubs want to run against Bernie??
South Carolina Trump activists in a much-promoted Facebook video: “We’re asking South Carolina Republicans to show their support for President Trump by crossing over and voting in the Democratic primary for Senator Bernie Sanders.”
