Here Ya Go!

October 26, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, Customers, remember how I told you that Glen Maxey promised to dance on the table if we hit $4,000?

We just hit $6,000 and although Glen is conducting a Texas Democratic Party Training in Corpus Christi, he’s still dancing on the table just for us.  So, I am pleased to introduce you to the Honorable and Distinguished former State Representative, current member of the Democratic National Committee, Director of Training for the Texas Democratic Party, and retired rodeo clown, Glen Maxey.

And thank you to my friend Matagorda County Democratic Chair Nora Dearing for the great photo.

To be honest with you guys, I thought we’d make about $1,000 from the beauty salon.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Be social and share!

  1. I don’t mean to be critical, and Glen is really cute and all, but he just doesn’t appear to be “nekkid.” I’m pretty sure I didn’t really want to see him nekkid (I’m not all that interested in ANY nekkid pictures — honest), but a promise is a promise.

  2. Marcia in CO says:

That Glen appears to be a wild and crazy guy! I really didn’t want to see him nekkid either … just wanted to see who I was sending my $25 to … it went out in today’s mail!

We may not all be rich, JJ, but most of us can spare a little bit to help our fellow Dems out when necessary!! Your cry for help gave me only the 2nd time in all my 70 years to actually contribute to anything political!! The 1st time was to the Democrate Governors last year!!

  3. Marge Wood says:

Laughing. Hurray for Glen and Juanita Jean and all of us! I told Yeller Dawgs today all about the fund raiser on JJs and how folks from all over the USA want Texas to be blue! I will send this to my friends at Yeller Dawgs! Wahoo!

    3
  4. Okay, you ladies shamed me, because I didn’t, but who can resist a table dance…er, dancing on the table?

I just contributed too and put it on my Facebook page.

    4
  5. Woo-hoo! I’m so proud and excited to see what y’all are doing down there to turn Texas blue, and that I could be a small part of it.

    Thanks for the dance, Glen!

  6. Sweet Crabby says:

Oh, miss Juanita Jean, I believe we’ve all had enough of the pale male Republican nonsense. The Beauty Shop and its clones all over the country will come through every time. Never underestimate the power of a bunch of righteously ticked-off women wielding rattail combs.

If I could draw a cartoon, it would be of you, holding the can of hairspray like a sword, with the rest of us following with our rattail combs in hand, processing caps on and black capes flying behind us. It’s about time. I may be sweet, and crabby, and old, but I am no longer patient.

  7. joesdaughter says:

Thanks for the photo. Gotta’ love a happy dance.

Is there anyway to identify all the home states of contributors? It would be interesting to see how many “annexes” the World’s Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc. has.

  8. Virginia Mary says:

This is cause worthy of support.

The Rightwing in Texas are like a bunch of termites who have eaten the legs off all the tables and chairs in the house and are swarming toward the roof. Donating even a little to stave off a slice of crazy just makes sense.

Thank you, Juanita Jean, for your advocacy and hard work year round.

    8
  9. Best $50 I ever donated, in multiple ways!

    9
  10. Jean Kuhn says:

I had to spend all my extra pennies contributing to Cory Booker
here in NJ. I am on SS and had to hold off on sending money to Texas but once my next check hits I will send some money my friends down on the ranch. Love y’all down there and if my cheering helps I will keep it up.

  11. Juanita Jean says:

Joe’s daughter, Glen was at another Democratic fundraiser in Houston with Bubba tonight and will join me in Bryan tomorrow night. I’ll ask him to figure it all out when he gets home.

    11
  12. Aggieland liz says:

Hey! Where you gonna be in Bryan?!

    12
  13. Another Ellen in Texas says:

A photo worth contributing to. Thanks JJ for all you do!

    13
  14. Glen Maxey says:

OK… Here’s where the money came flying in from… I’m didn’t know that even the Swedes are checking out the Beauty Shop. If you’re state ain’t on this list, just hit the link and make it so.

  15. Glen Maxey says:

OK. I’ve been partying with the Democrats in Houston at their Johnson Jefferson Richards Dinner. And I had a little to drink. I don’t apologize for saying “ain’t” but I do apologize for using “you’re” for “your”. Buth then that just might be how underfunding Texas educations has been for over fifty years.

And I’m going to Aggieland tomorrow for the Brazos County Democratic Party Dinner. That back water town (ok, I’m from Austin and am partial to the Longhorns) sold out 500 seats to hear Juanita Jean her-onself speak tomorrow night.

They even got this woman to do a warm up act for Juanita. Some feisty worman named Wendy is coming too.

    15
  16. Ralph Wiggam says:

To me, the best part was the pride I felt in making this happen. And as a bonus I get a Democratic Party that will put two coats of Blue Paint on the White House.

Being a Democrat is a lot more fun than being a Republican!

    16
  17. Marcia in CO says:

@Glen … my check is in the mail but you can add Canon City, CO to the list of places that have donated!!

    17
  18. Woo hoo – Madison, WI – that’s me! To the person from Captain Cook, HI: can you please host our next Juanita Jean’s Professional Political Organization Meet and Greet and Hellraising? I’ll bring cheese and beer.

    18
  19. Ok, as a former resident of CA and specifically West Hollywood that lived on Alfred Street one block from LaCienega I gots to say wowee and how’sit goin’ out there? Nice to see ya’. Small world isn’t it?

    19
  20. *waves to JaneE*

I’m not in your old stompin’ grounds, but I am in City-of-Angels territory, so close enough. The beauty parlor sure does have reach, doesn’t it?

    20
  21. WOW! TWMDBSI must be the most successful beauty shop chain in the USA. I’m so lucky to be a client with a lot of beautiful, generous, thoughtful and funny Democrats.

    21
  22. Hey Leslie! Are you a Valley Girl or Farm/Ranch Girl? Yessss, the City of Angels doth spread far and wide. I lived in the Valley for a bit too. But basically grew up in Hollywood and its environs. I’m the one from Colorado Springs, unbelievable culture(politics) shock!

    22
  23. Marge Wood says:

Exciting to see that list, Glen. And now I know Glen’s name only has one “n”. I’ve only known him for what, fourteen years?

    23
  24. joesdaughter says:

Thanks Juanita Jean and Glen. It was fun to see all the hubs and outpost of sanity.

PS. Joe of joesdaughter was a Democrat’s Democrat.

    24
  25. SomedayGirl says:

    Soooo…um, I guess. I got my money’s worth?

Good job, everyone, especially Susan and Glen.

    25
  26. Glenn and JJ, you all run the best fund raisers ever! I got a good idea how you did, Glenn, but what I want to know is how is Wendy doing $$-wise? Bought her dragon riding T shirt and love it!

    26
  27. Dianne in PA says:

Dear Glen, the Customers eagerly await all the juicy details of the fuss we’re sure y’all made over the Proprietress last night. I’m figuring she’s too well-bred to tell us herself, so will you do it?

    27
  28. Juanita Jean says:

I’ll be honest, Dianne. It went well. I got some blushes and strange looks at the uterus joke but the Ted Cruz jokes were wildly popular. Wendy, of course, did great. But, it was Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa who knocked it out of the park. He had the crowd on their feet shouting hallelujah and understanding how we truly can turn Texas BLUE tho election. Nice thing – in the local newspaper this morning, we made the front page above the fold with the packed room in very conservative Bryan, Texas. Damn, that felt good. A big hug to Maggie Charlton, Brazos County Chair, for doing a great and memorable event.

    28
  29. Glen, it is possible that contribution wasn’t from out of state. There’s a Sweden, TX (a ghost town in Duval Co.), an East Sweden, TX (near Brady in McCulloch Co.), and a New Sweden (in eastern Travis Co, north of Manor on 973). All of them are/were unincorporated. The the New Sweden Evangelical Lutheran Church is beautiful and considered one of the “most photographed” churches in Texas.
