Flyin’ Ted Now Worried by “Court Packing”

File under: He Didn’t Really Say That, did He?

Yesterday, Flyin’ Ted decided it was time to demonstrate his total lack of self-awareness by holding a press conference in front of the Supreme Court alongside Lindsey Graham to complain about…wait for it…court packing.  During his diatribe, Cruz even said, “You didn’t see Republicans when we had control of the Senate try to rig the game.  You didn’t see us try to pack the Court,” which is precisely what we saw in 2016 and again in 2020 when Moscow Mitch brazenly blocked Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, replacing him with Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, then Frat Boy Brett Kavanaugh, and then ramming through Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to take RBG’s seat only days before Trump’s defeat at the polls.  As a measure of the backlash of Cruz’s declaration, Merrick Garland immediately began trending on Twitter as Cruz was mocked for his idiotic declaration.

The Republicans have been packing federal courts for years, especially after McConnell triggered the nuclear option on Trump’s nominees for federal courts.  The GOP voters are so focused on court packing that they tolerate deplorables like Trump, Jordan, Gaetz, Gohmert and a plethora of other politicians simply because of their efforts to maintain an iron grip on the courts to cement in their power through gerrymandering and voter suppression.  The only way to stop it is to increase the seats on the Supreme Court and implement term limits.  Until then, partisans on the federal bench will be disrespected by half of Americans.  When a legal layman like me can predict with virtual certainty how the Supreme Court will rule on controversial cases you know that the court has been most certainly politicized, and that’s not healthy for any society, especially ours.  It’s time for that to stop, if for no other reason than to shut Flyin’ Ted’s mouth.

Be social and share!

I have to admit I thought the addition of four justices was a bit aggressive. If we look at the court as to what “should have been” we would put Garland in place of Gorsuch. That would make it a 5-4 court. I suppose you could also remove Barrett, but I think Barrett’s inclusion is really only horrible when considered in concert with Garland’s exclusion. A 5-4 seems about right and adding just two justices would make it a 6-5 court.

I certainly understand the argument of adding four justices. Making it a 7-6 court in favor of centrists, left leaning Democrats, and progressives represents where the country is actually at, but I don’t know if that is a winning strategy. I think focusing on the two seats stolen by the GOP is a much more persuasive argument.

I think extra judges, like DC statehood, isn’t happening – I don’t see serious support in the Capital. As for Ted and Lindsay, perhaps they could wear matching Muumuus of Hypocrisy for their next outing.

Oh, El Jefe, you vastly underestimated Flyin’ Ted’s ability to flap his gums over any issue.

On another point, increasing the Supreme Court to 13 Justices. One of the duties of a Supreme Court Justice is to oversee the operations of a Federal District Court. There are 13 Federal District Courts which means many of the current Justices are overseeing two of these Courts. By increasing the number to 13 Supremes, each Federal District would have its own Justice.

Given the increase in cases being presented to those Federal District Courts, having a single Supreme Court Justice to oversee the operations of each district will make for better outcomes.

  4. Hey, if you’ve not yet noticed, these degenerates always accuse their enemies of the things they are actively doing.
It works works because a lot of people are stupid.
    Don’t be that person.

In the Manchin-Sinema senate, the repugnanticans effectively have a 52-48 majority, so I too, think nothing’s going to come from changes to the Supreme Court to DC statehood. Probably include almost anything else like infrastructure legislation, sensible gun measures or the like as well. This is much wishful thinking, again. Sorry, but it’s hard to hold out much hope. Sadly

That Ted cannot remember any recent effort by Republicans to pack the Supreme Court, indicates early onset dementia.
I do hope his family can guide him toward appropriate care during his declining days.
