Not the Avocados!

January 27, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

You know it’s a sad state of affairs for a girl from Texas when this election meant that we went from a taco truck on every corner to a 20% tax on avocados.

This whole idea of me paying 20% tax on avocados is bad enough but do you realize that 71% of tomatoes we get in the US are imported from Mexico, and 98% of the good hot peppers?  Those are the makings of a taco.  I ain’t giving up tacos.

Not only that, but also

Mexico is the biggest exporter of fresh produce to the U.S. by far, responsible for nearly 70 percent of our vegetable imports and almost 40 percent of fruit imports.

And 70% of mangos come from Mexico.

100% of Topo Chico.  And 100% of Corona and Tequila.

But, here’s my biggest concern. Every day when I think about Steve Bannon running our country, I wonder if the wall is to keep Mexico out or the trap me in.

And The Louie Belches Just Keep On Coming

January 27, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

If you think for one damn minute that Donald Trump getting elected made Louie Gohmert’s IQ any higher, please assure your curiosity that No, It Did Not.

Vice President Mike Pence agreed to meet privately with House Republicans

At the GOP retreat here in Philadelphia, a handful of the House’s most conservative lawmakers peppered Pence with questions on topics ranging from the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack to the 2013 IRS tea party-targeting scandal.

And when there’s a whole handful of Republicans, you can count on Louie being there.

So, Louie gets an audience with the vice-president and what did Louie see as the biggest problems facing America?

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) spoke during the meeting, and said the intelligence community lied about what happened in Benghazi, Libya. Sources in the room said it was hard to follow, but Pence politely thanked him and suggested he and Trump would look into it.

Benghazi.

Bendamnghazi. That’s the biggest problem in America right now.

Honey, if Louie Damn Gohmert lets go of anything, it’s gonna have claw marks all over it.

Biggest understatement of the year: Louie’s argument was “hard to follow.”  We solved that one right here at the beauty salon in June of 2014.

But the people in east Texas don’t have a problem following him.  They have followed him right off a cliff.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen for the heads up.

From Here to There

I jut realized that we went from a Taco Truck on Every Corner to the President of Mexico refusing to come to America to meet with our government.

I call this severe regression.  Another week and we’ll be in the dark ages.

Just sayin’.

Holy Damn Cow

I’m on the road but if this is true, I am freaking out.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s job running the State Department just got considerably more difficult. The entire senior level of management officials resigned Wednesday, part of an ongoing mass exodus of senior foreign service officers who don’t want to stick around for the Trump era.

Thanks to everybody overseas for the heads up.

Governor Abbott Is Trying to Shoot the Sheriff

January 25, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Travis County (think Austin) Sheriff is a fine woman named Sally Hernandez.

Sheriff Hernandez issued a state meant saying that the County of Travis has an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policy.

“The purpose of this policy is to promote public safety through continued Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) enforcement of all Texas criminal laws, to protect and serve all residents of Travis County regardless of their immigration status, and to ensure the continued participation of victims and witnesses regardless of their immigration status.”

Governor Greg Abbott is threatening her.  Yes, the duly elected Sheriff. He is threatening her because she believes that protecting the citizens in Travis County is more important than rounding up undocumented workers.  In fact, she campaigned on that and won.

Abbott wrote a strongly-worded letter.

In the letter, Abbott also made clear that he intends to make an example out of Hernandez during the 85th Legislative Session that started earlier this month. Abbott is set to lay out his priorities in his State of the State address, which is scheduled for Jan. 31.

He’s gonna make an example of her. Honey, she already is an example of what strong women with a solid education can accomplish. I’m placing my bet that she’s going to make and example of lily-livered whiny baby Abbott.

Abbott better bring more than Dan Patrick and the crappiest lawyers in the state working for Ken Paxton to mess with this woman.

Thanks to everybody for heads up.
