Is This English? Is This Reasoning? Is This Talking? What The Hell Is This?

Trump sits down with the Wall Street Journal in an “impromptu” meeting at the White House and makes me crazy.

First he says that his tariffs will help the American Steelworkers in the long run.  Well, that’s a guess.  Right now the tariffs are killing steel.  But, I kinda suspect that Trump has been told that steel has something to do with the Russia inquiry so it has to go, too.

Next, he covers his secret plan to win the midterms. He says Republicans will win.

“As long as I can get out and campaign, I think they’re going to win, I really do. It’s a lot of work for me. I have to make 50 stops, it’s a lot. So, there aren’t a lot of people that can do that, physically. Fortunately, I have no problem with that.”

Hold back there, Dumpy, you can’t walk a damn golf course.

And then get this.  Asked if his The Big Hoopla Tour might energize Democrats, Trump responds.

“It may. But it energizes my people much more than it energizes them. I think the Democrats give up when I turn out. If you want to know the truth, I don’t think it energizes them. I think it de-energizes them. I think they give up when I turn out.”

Yeah, he saps the precious bodily fluids right out of us.

Damn, maybe we should make English the official language.

And Maybe This Is Reason #5,432 of Why I Hate Republicans

So Republican Bekah Halat is running for the Alaska State Senate.

Bekah is damn mess.

Halat and her husband, Jarek Halat, were charged last week with one count of felony theft for allegedly collecting more than $10,000 in food stamps that they shouldn’t have qualified for. They also face one misdemeanor charge for misleading a public servant.

Yeah, they were both working, living in a $280,000 house and paying a $2,000 a month mortgage, but they really needed that extra $662. a month for food. So, they lied about their income.

I expect Republicans to steal.  Hell, that’s almost something they list with pride on their campaign materials for the primary.

But, the Republican behavior is what I find amusing.  Halat blamed her opponent for her theft.  She claimed the criminal charges (which say she admitted to being dishonest and asked to repay the food stamps) were “false allegations from those trying to steal the election.”

“People have learned a lot about me, but there’s a lot more they have to learn if they think I’m going to just curl up in a ball and let someone else represent me and my district through attacking my family.”

Shuddup.  Just shuddup.

Thanks to slipstream for the heads up.

Fight Fire With Fire, And, Uh, Accidental Targets

Well, North Dakota seems intent on turning their schools into macho-man battlegrounds.

Bismarck Public Schools and the Bismarck Police Department plan to share the cost of purchasing nearly $26,000 worth of AR-15s, gun safes, additional bulletproof vests and medical kits, the Bismarck Tribune reported.

And they are going to give this stuff to the school’s “resource officers.”  I think they mean “prison guards.”

The resource officers already carry handguns but handguns “won’t help if they need to shoot from a distance.”  So, they need AR-15s.  Because they’re going to be running away?  Or is it just more fun to use an automatic weapon when there will likely be children between the gunman and the officer?

Thanks to Claudia for the heads up.

That’s a Lotta Money

Remember the United the Right Rally in Washington, DeeCee, where the crowd of white supremacists were in the dozens?  Okay, maybe two dozens.

That mess cost the taxpayers of Dee Cee $2.6 million dollars. They figure that’s about $86,000 a racist, which, best I can figure, is about 4 times their yearly income, which makes it kinda like racist welfare.

Here’s the stumper …

The money came from the federally funded Emergency Planning and Security Fund, which reimburses DC agencies for costs that relate to the city being the nation’s capital.

So, actually, that was your taxes paying for that stuff.

Thanks to S Gray for the heads up.

My Local Republican Party is Dopey

August 14, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Remember the cold war when the Republicans were hollering “Better dead than red!”

Yeah, well, I do, too.  I think they changed their mind about that.  So, what time is better than now to remind voters that Republicans have gone all Russian commie on us?

Is anybody else’s county Republican Party using anything else that damn dumb?

West Virginia People I Detest

August 14, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Oh, this is cute.

It seems that the West Virginia Supreme Court is all Democrats.  And, strictly by coincidence they’re all being impeached.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The House of Delegates on Monday voted to impeach all four remaining West Virginia Supreme Court justices on 11 various articles of impeachment, covering a range of grounds from wasteful spending, maladministration, incompetency, neglect of duty, and potential criminal behavior.

Additionally, delegates approved a resolution to publicly reprimand and censure all four justices for the conduct covered by the articles of impeachment.

Here’s the deal:  One justice resigned.  Justice Robin Davis is accusing House of Delegates of impeaching her based on political party. Says she retired to let voters decide replacement.

Jim Justice

The GOP-controlled legislature dragged its feet for months on impeaching these justices to prevent their replacement by voters via special elections this fall. Missing today’s deadline lets Republican Gov. Jim Justice appoint their replacements.

Admittedly, some of these guys are stinkers, but nothing that would rise to the level of impeachment on most of the charges.

Let me tell you someone about Jim Justice.  He made his money in coal mining.

In 2015, Justice switched from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party and announced his candidacy for Governor in the 2016 election. He ran as a Democrat and defeated the Republican nominee, Bill Cole. Less than seven months after taking office, Justice switched back to the Republican Party the day after announcing his plans at a President Trump rally in the state.

Now there’s a man you can trust!
