If you ever entertained a nice thought about Texas Congressman Will Hurd, take it from your head and stomp on it.  Until this week, we thought Hurd was a Republican, but a fairly decent man who wasn’t one of those crazy Republicans.

We were wrong with a big red X.  We are lucky he’s leaving office.

Here’s his thoughts:

“While Hurd told The Post he objected to Trump’s racist tweets (“When you imply that because someone doesn’t look like you, in telling them to go back to Africa or wherever, you’re implying that they’re not an American and you’re implying that they have less worth than you”), he insists that he will still vote for him, the perfect pathetic encapsulation of Republicans’ moral vacuousness. They know he’s a racist, they know racism is despicable and anti-American, but, by gosh, he’s their man for president.”

So what Will is saying is that it’s okay if I’m an active raving racist just so long I also sell your vote to Russia, lie to the American people, steal the taxpayers blind with personal greed, and grab women by the pussy, you’ll vote for me.

“Perfect pathetic encapsulation of Republicans’ moral vacuousness.”  Indeed.

Well, somebody left the barn door open in Texas.

Two Texas Republican Congressvarmints have resigned in the past week.  Pete Olson, my own personal congressional bag of hammers, resigned this week.  Yesterday, Will Hurd, the only African American Republican in congress, called it quits.

Here’s why this is a big deal.  Both of these guys are in swing districts.  In 2018, Olson’s usual double digit margin of victory was slashed to less than 5 points by an outstanding candidate named Sri Preston Kulkarni.  Hurd won by less than a point to another Democratic up and comer Gina Ortiz Jones.

To make matters worse for the GOP …

House Republicans say there may be ranking members pondering departures ahead. And Texas Reps. Kenny Marchant (R-Texas) and Michael McCaul (R-Texas), like Hurd, won close races in 2018.

And then there’s the Texas state legislature, which is particularly important this year because redistricting is on the agenda.

In my county alone (which many of you supported with donations, turning districts from solid red to flip districts) two state legislators are facing giving up their seats.  Yesterday, Republican Texas House member John Zerwas announced his unexpected retirement from what appeared to be a safe seat.  His buddy in an adjacent district, Rick Miller, is expected to announce his retirement loudly next week.  I say loudly because he’s already told everybody he has seen because Ole Rick needs gobs and gobs of sympathy.

Sri Kulkarni was on his last vacation before he begins 18 months of hard campaigning. He tweeted.

Yeah, but we may send him to do it again until he gets Mitch McConnell out.  🙂

Donald Trump makes me seethe.  The two Navy officers charged with prosecuting Chief Edward Gallagher have hit Trump’s I’M FREAKING THE HELL OUT list and he has decided that they have to surrender their Achievement medals.

Wait, wait, why doesn’t he just go put them in a cage on the border instead of taking their medals.  They prosecuted his friend and now, now, yeah now, they are gonna pay for it. And let this be a warning to any other government prosecutor who dares attempt to prosecute somebody that Trump likes.

Yeah, I am pissed off.

Trump, earlier on Wednesday, had tweeted that he directed the secretary of the U.S. Navy and the naval operations chief to “immediately withdraw and rescind” the Navy Achievement Medal from those prosecutors. Cdr. Jereal Dorsey, a U.S. Navy spokesman, said that Navy Secretary Richard Spencer had rescinded the awards and that he had the authority to do so.

Trump has insisted that Gallagher never should have been prosecuted, but that view is hardly universal. Gallagher’s critics alleged that he killed the prisoner and member of the terrorist group ISIS (Islamic State, Iraq and Syria) as an act of vigilante justice. Gallagher, they alleged, did not act in self-defense, but rather, became a vigilante and appointed himself judge, jury and executioner.

Isn’t that kinda what Trump does every damn day?  Assigns himself as judge, jury, and executioner?

Gallagher  not the kind of American soldier we should be honoring.  He’s a bully – just like Trump. And he’ll have a show on Fox News within the month.

There’s a story in Pro Publica this week that hits close to home.  It’s about Republican scam PACs.

Yeah, the fools are still being scammed by people who know a sucker when they see one.  The difference this week is that one of the parties to the scam is a person I know and have done business with.

This PAC, named the Conservative Majority Fund promised to use any monies raised to “oppose Barack Obama.”

The PAC, called the Conservative Majority Fund, has raised nearly $10 million since mid-2012 and continues to solicit funds to this day, primarily from thousands of steadfast contributors to conservative causes, many of them senior citizens. But it has made just $48,400 in political contributions to candidates and committees. Public records indicate its main beneficiaries are the operative Kelley Rogers, who has a history of disputes over allegedly unethical fundraising, and one of the largest conservative fundraising companies, InfoCision Management Corp., which charged millions of dollars in fundraising fees.

This scam took Lynne Archer of Sugar Land, a woman I know, for $3,800.

Archer said she tries to be wary of potential scams, but the Conservative Majority Fund had always sounded “like a legitimate group” when it solicited money.

“Damn, I gave a lot to them,” said Archer, who lives in Sugar Land, Texas, and works for her husband at an automobile dealership. “I don’t like that at all.”

Archer is very wealthy and can afford to lose the money but a lot of the people in these scams are not.

You know, these poor Republicans can’t give to the RNC because they spend it on spa treatments for Roona McDaniels and even the PACs are walking off with their money. You’d think they’d be wary by now, but apparently not.
