Jumping the Gun

Juanita is often severely amused by the Republican Party of Fort Bend County.

“They just sent a mailout announcing they are throwing in the towel on this election season,” she grins. “Even though they have a mess of local fluffy white boys who need re-electing to the public dole this November, they have set their sites on ….. January 28, 2011.  That’s almost three full months AFTER the November election.”

This arrived in the mail yesterday —-

“And, as if having Bush’s Brain for a fundraiser three months after an election isn’t exciting enough for you, there’s their website, where as of today, the most recent upcoming event is May 17th.  Here’s a screenshot of their website on July 4th.”

“Look, I’m not say they’ve given up, but it sure looks like they’re spending a lot of money on the past and the far, far, holy cow that’s damn over yonder far off future,” she ponders.

Verdelia butts in, “And this is the former ground moving political machine that Tom DeLay built?  Well, you know what they say – the taller they are the bigger splat they make when they fall.”

“Honey, the engine’s running but no one’s at the wheel,” Juanita replies.

Happy Independence Day!

Juanita is closing the shop today for the hot dogs and fireworks display in Rosenberg, but not before letting you know that the Republicans gave us another wonderful gift just in time for the 4th of July.

Washington (CNN) – Republicans lined up on opposite sides Sunday over comments by the chairman of the Republican National Committee that the Afghanistan war launched by former President George W. Bush was “of (President Barack) Obama’s choosing” and may be unwinnable.

Speaking from Afghanistan, GOP Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina lambasted Michael Steele for the comments, which McCain called “wildly inaccurate” and Graham characterized as “uninformed, unnecessary, unwise, untimely.”

However, conservative GOP Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, in a statement to CNN, supported Steele and said the RNC chairman’s characterization of the war was correct.

“Those Republican boys might want to re-think their position on handguns before they fill each other with more lead than a sinker factory,” she grinned.

“They’re locking horns, crossing sabers, and kicking dust — on each other.  My, my, my, that’s a pretty sight!  Plus, it gives me some resting time because they’re covering my workload for me.”

Alan Grayson is The Man

Juanita has a little crush on Florida Demcoratic Congressman Alan Grayson.

“He’s everything good about being a Democrat,” she says.

“Grayson, like a few others I know, got elected accidentally in a conservative district.  But, unlike a few others I know, he didn’t sell out his principles and his supporters to try to get re-elected by becoming a lap dog to big oil, and donating $375 million in tax money for deep water drilling research.  Nick Lampson used $375 million of your dollars to buy their support for himself.  He is such a jerk.”

“Lampson never understood that if you go to bed with conservatives, they’ll screw you for sure, but they won’t ever respect you in the morning.  Lampson got in bed with them, they used him up and then they tossed him out with the garbage,” she shakes her head remembering.  “And, by the way, if he says I ever asked him for money, he’s a lying sack of festering feathers and I can prove it.”

“But, let’s get back to seeing how it’s done right,” she continues.  “Alan Grayson got accidentally elected, too.  And that’s where the similarity ends.  Grayson stood tall in the saddle instead of ducking behind the barn.   Instead of becoming a lap dog, he started explaining his progressive ideas to the voters, and …. they are coming to his side.”

“There’s a damn good chance that he’s going to be re-elected,” she grins.

“And meanwhile, he’s still doing good stuff.  Go sign his petition to end the wars and save America.  Hell, it’s a rainy Friday – do something that’ll make you feel good.”

I Just Knew It Was Coming

First a leprechaun..

FRUITA, Colo. – If a Western Slope woman is to be believed, vampires may be lurking in Colorado’s Grand Valley.

The woman claims she spotted a vampire in the middle of a dirt road near Fruita, Colo. Sunday night. She told Colorado State Troopers she was startled by the undead being, threw her SUV into reverse, and crashed into a canal.

She was not injured.

State Troopers say the woman’s husband arrived at the scene and took her home. The vampire, which was not seen by anyone else, apparently let her get away.

Troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in the crash.

Must have been the garlic.
