What Would Jesus Carry?

October 09, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Baptist Tabernacle of Thomaston, Georgia is the church of Rev. Jonathan Wilkins, a man not willing to trust the Lord, his fellow worshipers, or the police.

Rev. Wilkins is a man of little faith but good aim.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals got treated to arguments by the Rev. Wilkins’ church that denying the right to carry arms in churches violates their constitutionally protected religious freedoms.

No, seriously.  They want to shoot people in church.  Right after they save their souls, I hope.  It would kinda be the ultimate irony to blast some dude to straight to hell at the Baptist Tabernacle.

The Devil:  How did you get here?

The Dude:  Baptist Church.

The Devil:  Okay, join all the other Baptist right over there.  (points downward)

The Dude:  Damn, I knew I should’ve been a Methodist.

I sure the heck wouldn’t sleep through Rev. Wilkins sermons.  No tellin’ how he gets your attention.

Thanks to Ralph for the heads-up.

Editorial Brutality

And you thought I was mean?

Does a chicken have lips?  Can a rattlesnake whistle Texas Fight?  I am not near mean.

Charles M. Blow in the New York Times today explains why in tarnation that the Republicans, with the economy in the crapper, the worst voting infringements since poll tax, and more corporate money than Swiss banks, still can’t beat Obama.

When my three boys were little, we sang the Three Little Monkeys song —

Three little monkeys jumpin’ on the bed.
One fell off and broke his head.
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said,
“That’s what you get for jumpin’ on the bed.”

And, according to Mr. Blow, the GOPs little monkeys keep falling off the bed.  He goes after them one at a time.  But, what he does to Rick Perry, who he calls Thick Rick, is illegal in five states and parts of Ohio.

Then there’s Perry, who during the last debate was pushed back on his spurs. All of America had a chance to see what many have known from the beginning: that dog isn’t smart enough to hunt. Ever since then he’s been sinking in the polls. Adding to his troubles, The Washington Post revealed on Sunday that the Perry family leased a hunting camp with a most un-P.C. name, which sounds like a cover band for a Klan rally.

I bow to sublime meanness. But that’s what Thick Rick gets for jumpin’ on the bed.

Thanks to Steve for the heads-up.

The Super DeLuxe Brand Christians

October 08, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

As most of you know, I am a person of faith. But, I am the regular kind of Christian. You know, the ones who sin and fall short of the glory of God. The ones who have backsliding blisters on their butts. The ones who think the Sermon on the Mount had more of a message on how to live than the entire book of Leviticus. The ones who find comfort in the Psalms, not the ravings of Revelations.

The War of the Christians has begun.

Jeffers: Moral, decent men belong in hell

While Rick Perry says he judges not the hearts of men, yet he sends out his manservants to proclaim the evils of sorcery.

Rick Perry does not believe Mormonism is a cult. But he’s not going to condemn his brand-new endorser who does.

That’s the word from Team Perry after Southern Baptist Convention chief and Texas pastor Robert Jeffress endorsed Perry at the Voters Values Summit Friday and immediately set about claiming Mitt Romney is a member of a cult and is not a Christian.

But he said that he thought Mitt was a moral and decent man.

Okay, so here’s a guy who believes that the world is 6,000 years old and God put older rocks here to test our faith because God likes pop quizzes. Here’s a guy who believes that women should be overseen by their husbands, and that four horsemen are coming to resurrect the dead because three aren’t enough. And he’s calling someone else a cult member?

I have a question. If there’s a dogma fight, will squirting the water hose on them stop it? And will Michael Vick place bets on the outcome?

Susan Collins Must Turn In Her Ta-Tas

October 08, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

As you recall, Sen. Scott Brown made a comment about Elizabeth Warren that was best suited to be hollered out a  sophomore dorm window by a drunk Kappa Alpha.

Warren, of course, being a full grown woman, and in my opinion very attractive, shrugged it off.

But then there was Senator Susan Collins, a Republican girl from Maine, who felt the need to defend not Elizabeth Warren, but Scott Brown for posing nude during his college years.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said, “It’s wrong to mock anyone who had to make hard choices to overcome tough obstacles.” She added, “His story is no different than millions of Americans who are doing everything they can to make ends meet.”

Yeah, Susan, his story is a whole lot different from the man working three jobs to feed his family.  He’s a whole lot different from the single mother trying to work her way through college waiting tables.

Now can you even imagine the uproar (not to mention the hooting calls of the Wild American Male) had Elizabeth Warren posed for Playboy while in college to pay her bills?  Can you even imagine the outrage of both men and women who could have made a lot more money taking off their clothes, but chose to work harder jobs because it was honest and non-demeaning work?

Ms. Collins, step over here to the side for a minute and let me explain something to you.  Republicans are very quick to hold Democrats responsible for their choices, but that does not appear to be a two way street.  Scott Brown chose to put his buck nakkid little hiney on display because it was easier than actual work.  I get to mock that because it deprived Scott Brown of knowing what it is like to do hard work in a machine shop in the summer heat of Texas to pay for college. Yeah, I can run a router, who’s asking?

Scott Brown thinks things come easy for pretty people.  I will most certainly mock that and if you don’t like it you can kiss my big blue butt, Girl.

This Ain’t Hell, But You Can See It From Here

I’ve had bad Monday mornings before, but nothing compared to Bridgett Boyd’s morning.

On the way to work at her job at a local bank, Bridgett’s had car trouble on the Beltway 8 in Houston.  She pulled over and a police officer soon pulled up behind her.  She thought he was there to help.  She thought wrong.  The police officer gave her a ticket for driving on the shoulder.  I imagine she was a tad huffed about that, so the police officer decided to arrest her.  He put her in the back of his patrol car.  Bridgett, who has never been in trouble ever before in her whole life, panicked.

Paramedics were called and they took her to the hospital.  The officer, who appears to never have arrested anybody before in his whole life, followed the ambulance to the hospital and waited until she was released, where he cuffed her and drove her to the jail.

But, it gets worse.  According to the lawsuit she filed —-

To make matters worse, Boyd claims in a lawsuit that the handcuffs were put on her wrists painfully tight – she claims she explained to the officer she had just had surgery on her hand – and that she was forced to listen to Rush Limbaugh “make derogatory comments about black people” all the way to the jail. Boyd is African-American.

I hope she gets a billion dollars in her lawsuit.  Being forced to listen to Limbaugh is prima facie cruel and unusual punishment, even if he wasn’t off on one of his “Barack the Magic Negro” rants.  A billion dollars, I say.

Independents Give Rick Perry Eagle Poop

Another anti-Perry PAC has been born in Bastrop, Texas.

They have some cool videos about Perry, and have put some work into the site.

If it appears that everybody is ganging up on Rick Perry, it’s simply because everybody is ganging up on Rick Perry.  He’s a bad man.
