And For One Brief Shining Moment, Texas Did Not Have The Most Gawd-Awful Republican Legislator in America.
It’s one minute. You gotta see it to believe it.
Thanks to Lizbeth for the heads up.

As you’ve heard, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is trying to extort charities and faith based groups in Texas from helping Syrian refugees.
Now he’s taken it a step further and people with triple digit IQ’s predict he’s gonna end up as the legal centerpiece at Christmas dinner with a candle in his butt and sufficient tinsel to cover Dallas.
… it’s worth flagging a different suit by Texas against the federal government, filed late Wednesday, that seeks an injunction barring the resettlement of Syrian refugees into Texas — on the ground that such resettlement would violate 8 U.S.C. § 1522, …
That provision in the law says the federal government must engage in “some consultation with states on refugee resettlement matters.”
The federal government replied that they did, indeed, consult with Texas, and if Texas can’t listen that’s not their problem. Additionally, among many other wacky things that Texas is whining about, Texas can’t show harm. In fact …
Texas can’t show any irreparable harm (“Since fiscal year 2011, 243 Syrian refugees have resettled in Texas. Yet Plaintiff does not explain how these specific refugees—mostly children, their parents, and in one case their grandparents—pose a danger to anyone anywhere, let alone to the State of Texas.”)
Yeah? Well, they scare little man Greg Abbott to death. Especially those children. You never know what kids are going to do next. Hell, one of them might even point and giggle at the coward in the Texas Gov Shack.
Thanks to Scott for the heads up.
For those of you who went through the perfectly awful web hosting where the site went down weekly for days, I have been informed by my new host that we will have some downtime Tuesday night at 8:30 pm. We should be back online by Wednesday morning but if we’re not, do not panic.
Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Young son-of-a-Jeb, George Pee Bush, got himself elected Land Commissioner in Texas. There have been problems from the get-go, like hiring his buddies to high paying jobs within his office.
The big news in Texas right now is that George P Bush, son of a JebBush, got elected Land Commissioner in Texas and is violating the law, hiring his friends and family, not posting jobs, and has turned the Texas General Land office to a frat house / political payoff machine that even has his retired Republican predecessor aghast.
That has been the good news of his tenure in office.
He’s been spending more time on the campaign trail with his daddy than running his office in Texas.
Come to think of it, maybe that’s good news.
George Pee had a conference call with his closest supporters and even they were dumbfounded when he explained that he had run for “dogcatcher” in Texas
“There’s no better experience than getting involved in a presidential race because you truly do absorb so much more information than say, running for dog catcher like I did in Texas,” he said, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Brian Rosenthal.
But he didn’t stop there. When asked if he was going to help with the presidential campaign, he explained —
When he began to talk about where his father and brother would be campaigning, he said he was “stuck here in Texas this week, but will be out on the trail.”
So, here we have a young man with a $167,070 a year job that oversees the Texas School Fund and all the damn land in Texas. Land commissioner is the oldest, continuous elected position in Texas history. But, George Pee considers that dogcatcher.
I wonder if he knows he’s not “stuck in Texas.” He can leave at any time. In my mind, the sooner, the better.
Damn Bushes.
GOP Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore decided it would be a fun idea to post a holiday photo of her adorable family. Click the little one to get the big one.
Appropriately, they are wearing red because they are embarrassing.
First question: why is that little boy in the front row holding a deadly weapon? Aren’t y’all afraid of pissing him off?
Second question: does anybody in this family own a pair of shoes?
On a personal note, I had the distinct honor of meeting Lucy Flores from Nevada, who is running for congress from Nevada. She would be the first Latina elected to represent Nevada from the 4th congressional district. She has an amazing life story and would do Nevada proud.
Thanks to Brian for the heads up.
It was not a good week for Texas Republicans and morals. In fact, it stank like a goat with a fish around his neck. Come to find out, they have fewer morals than Al Capone’s tomcat.
Former chief of staff to Congressman Smoky Joe Barton of Dallas plead guilty to knowingly possessing child pornography and trying to send it to his House account.
Not to be outdone by the big city fellas, less than 48 hours later the Chief of Staff to East Texas Republican Congressman Matt Schaefer was arrested on charges of soliciting a minor under 14 – Judd Quarles was booked into the Smith County jail on $350,000 bond.
I would suggest you hide your daughters when Republicans come to town. When they open their Bibles to preach to you, might want to check if there’s wildly obscene pictures in there.
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
