Apparently, Greg Abbott couldn’t get enough volunteers so he had to hire people to campaign for him.
It did not work out as well as he suspected.

If I was in Texas now, I’d sign up to be a canvasser for Abbot. And I’d be diligent in listing all his accomplishments which have been discussed here. True, I’d be fired after the first day … but would donate the money earned to Beto.
Off-topic, but does JJ Herownself have any comments about Texas’s goofiest federal representative? From

I have not watched the video but suspect he said it in an outraged tone.
1That cheered me right up! However, I won’t believe that Abbott is toast until every last vote is counted in November.
2Yeah, Surly, it’s gitten’ real sad when a white boy has to follow the same rules as everybody else. What has this world come to? Poor Louie has some sobering thoughts to discover when he returns home a nobody.
3Would be great if abbutt’s failure to get volunteers for his campaign was a sign of the governorship turning blue.
4As for goober gohmert, he’s just taking advantage of the current repugnantican playbook- publicizing he’s being threatened with prosecution because it’s a badge of honor.
If just a few rotten R politicians would actually get prosecuted. I fear the clock is running out, however.
In some circles, not being able to find volunteers to canvass voters for you would be considered a “clue.” In Abbott’s case, it didn’t seem to register. Perhaps he needs a “clue by four”?
