Now, OT for 1 very important weather advisory, and some news about today’s SpaceX StarHopper rocket launch at Boca Chica, TX.
Tropical Storm Dorian has had the official NHC

forecast intensity bumped way up from recent ones, at the 11PM Forecast Discussion #15.
TS Dorian is now projected to hit Puerto Rico, then as he continues into the Turks & Caicos and the Bahamas, is expected to become a fairly strong ***hurricane***, possibly a Cat 2, long before the time it strikes Florida’s mid-coast on ~Sunday, or possibly as far north as Georgia.
One model even has Dorian at Cat FOUR 4 strength hitting FL [this is just one model among many, but prior recent models and forecasts didn’t even reach “hurricane” status by FL landfall, so things -have changed-…]!
Another development, as Dorian is inland in FL, GA, etc., has ‘something’ cooking in the Bay of Campeche next week, and then maybe strengthening into something significant as it tracks towards the TEXAS coast… yeow!

Now for something amazing!
Today the SpaceX Starship StarHopper vehicle had a test rocket launch at Boca Chica [beach], TX.
It was a short hop, just to 496 feet vertical and a few hundred feet horizontal; but this is just the beginning. [I saw NO MSM news coverage of this, not even local SA media]

I find this launch astounding.
At the very same beach shown in the video below, I used to go surf fishing there with buddies, 40-50 years ago. 35-39 years ago, I, and crew, used to sail my sailboat [then a HobieCat] along that beach. In the background is the Rio Grand River and it’s mouth into the Gulf of Mexico. I sailed across the bars and into that same river way back then too Something almost nobody had done since the 1850-70’s, when people like the Kings and Kenedys captained their steamboats/riverboats.

PS: The little subdivision that is sometimes called “Boca Chica, TX”, near this new SpaceX rocket complex, was a largely failed 1967-1970’s real estate development of maybe 40 small homes.
It is/was actually named “Kennedy/Kopernick Shores”, and was made for and marketed to Polish snowbirds from Chicago originally.
The developer never sold all the lots and homes, and it went belly up. The few snowbirds that bought homes soon realized that between the isolation, heat and humidity, lack of water and power failures, and all the hurricanes, that this was not the place to be [Brownsville and Mexico are ~20 miles away, SPI is only about 5 miles as the crow flies, but is ~50+ miles driving]. The place was forlorn-looking way back then, with just a few people living there. Later on you can imagine the drug-running, etc., with the then unguarded Rio Grande just 1-2 miles south.

5Y’all have got to watch and listen to this absolutely fantastic drone video of Boca Chica Village, TX. Where the new SpaceX Heavylift Spaceport is growing. They envision manned Moon and Mars space launches originating from this place.

Just imagine living there. I guarantee it’s one of the most isolated, formerly ‘wild’ places you cityfolk can imagine.
Lots of beach, sea, sand, cactii, lagoons. Nothing like a modern fancy beach seashore place.
The Laguna Madre South Bay has great fishing, if you can stand the vicious mosquitos and huuuge green ‘horseflys’ that will bite your limbs off.. There used to be many other critters and birds, including lots of tortoises and snakes.

8Thats old news for me. Had af friend in the brokerage business who knew all this years ago. Now that it is public knowledge that Putin owns the President of the US of A, this has to become a constitutional court case let alone impeachment. And yes, there is enough time before the 2020 election.
