Because It Worked So Damn Well Last Time

November 30, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Donald Trump, who claimed to have a beautiful distribution system for the vaccine, has now decided to leave it up to the states, because it’ll be so damn much fun watching the states fight over it.

The Trump administration is shunting to the states hard decisions about which Americans will get the limited early supplies of coronavirus vaccines — setting up a confusing patchwork of distribution plans that could create unequal access to the life-saving shots.

Federal and state officials agree that the nation’s 21 million health care workers should be first in line. But there is no consensus about how to balance the needs of other high-risk groups, including the 53 million adults aged 65 or older, 87 million essential workers and more than100 million people with medical conditions that increase their vulnerability to the virus.

Or, you know, major campaign donors. The state house members and their families.  I cannot even imagine the goat rodeo this is going to be in Texas.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t appoint an Army general to head this up — not Flynn, but an actual ground forces general.  Those guys know how to get things done in any mass operation.  This is what they do.

January 20th can’t get here fast enough.

  1. There actually is a general who has been spending months on vaccine distribution. He was interviewed on TV a couple of weeks ago.

It’s time for the Rethugs in Congress to have a “Come to Jesus” meeting with the Moron and tell him to let the Army do what they’ve been planning all along.

  2. Another golden opportunity for Biden’s team to step up and prove they can focus on the need. If they put a plan or guideline out, many of the states will glom onto it.

I hope they do this–because waiting until Jan. 20th is just NOT good enough. We need effective leadership now.

Maybe off topic a little, but I read much of the interview pariah bartiromo had with DUHtrumpf and noticed not one word was spoken about the raging coronavirus or any planning for controlling it. Fux news is back to trying to brainwash more Americans for the ratings. Feeling the heat from the other propaganda networks.

They could just have an Amazon or Walmart logistics employee do it – it’d probably take them about twenty minutes.

  5. Congress could act. But they won’t with Moscow Mitch in his role as head obstructionist. Hand the entire response to a team of specialists far removed from Donnie and his maladministration’s sticky fingers of corruption and destruction.

Then again. Would anyone trust a vaccine distributed before 1/20/2021?

  6. Harry Eagar says:

Jane & PKM. I’ll trust a vaccine if Dr. Paul Offitt says it’s OK.

Hardly anybody cannot shoehorn himself into a priority category.

  7. Buttermilk Sky says:

I had exactly the same thought: Send for retired General Russel Honore, who took charge in New Orleans after Katrina.

  8. I thought for sure ol’ Jared woulda been put in charge of the distribution. I mean, he’s done such a bang up job on all his other assignments, right?

  9. Jane & PKM says:

BillR @8, Jughead and Princess Sparkletwat are busy collecting their vigorish off the patents and counting the cash for Donnie.

Harry Eagar @6, nice to know. Pediatrician is among Dr. Offitt’s professional creds, so we’ll keep him on the list when deciding when it’s safe for our two boys to receive a vaccine. Thanks!

  10. Nick Carroway says:

At some point, someone will learn not to count on this fool to do anything. The governor’s should get together and hash something out and give Agent Orange his president play set for him to fiddle with.

  11. If Dr Fauci & Dr Hotez (from Baylor Medical Center here in Houston) say I should get the vaccine, I’m getting it! As fast as I can!

  12. Something I have not hitherto seen in such a conversation: there are more and more essential workers who continue to do their jobs despite very real and deep danger from the virus – namely those people, usually non-citizens, who pick our veggies and fruit etc. on the farms. They live in rather jam-packed quarters, have no real way of socially distancing themselves from others when out in the field or in the barn or in what ever transportation takes them to the field or takes them away from there. Their English is good enough for what they do and due to the language barrier, either do not know anything about the health care system or if they do, distrust it for whatever reason.I would like to see these folks be considered in the first 25% of folks to get the vaccine. It ay take some real hard working education to do this, but since I am eating what they pick or milk, I think its damn important.
