And While We’re Suing Everybody Anyway
Even people from foreign states know by now that Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is the absolute worst lawyer ever. I think they’ve repossessed his briefcase and hid his map to the courthouse.
But, by gawd, he’s gonna sue again.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says he may sue the federal government over the costs incurred from housing thousands of undocumented children detained on the U.S.-Mexico border.
“If the federal government is unwilling to secure the border, the State of Texas will be forced to resort to litigation to recoup the costs incurred to respond to this crisis.”
Okay, so if we were to herd together all the taxpayer money Abbott has spent paying Texas lawyers to prepare lawsuits, all the taxpayer money he has lost in those lawsuits, and add that to all the money Texas taxpayers have spent for Rick Perry’s security and state detail while he’s running for President, we could build a freekin’ condo for those kids.
But, hell, let’s sue the government so that taxpayers can foot the bill for writ twits on both sides of the case.
What the hell is this with government suing government? The lawyer full employment bill?
It’s like Lucy and the football with Charlie Brown. Greg Believes that if he sues enough times He’ll eventually win a case.
1“What the hell is this with government suing government?”
I’m pretty sure it’s because the current head of the federal government is black. I doubt the numbers & cost of undocumented children housed during the 8 years of GWB was much different.
2Seems to me all of those conservatives need to jump onto Google and research refugee rights, UN treaties and international law regarding forceful returns. I suspect Obama can do a bunch with his pen – since Treaty law is superior to Federal law.
3Paul Paine, Oh surely nothing is superior to state’s laws! Except whatever law someone wants to obey when the cuckoos fly out of his arse, which is none at all except I Got A Big Freakin’ Gun. Rightwingers obey only laws they like.
4Shouldn’t Abbott be sued for letting all those illegals run rampant around the state?
5Shouldn’t states like Oklahoma,New Mexico & Louisiana be able to sue Abbott for not containing control over his state borders, by allowing illegals to cross over into their respective states?
Yup! Its called collateral damage!
6Funny how the tort reform legislation proposed by Republicans didn’t cover these types of lawsuits…
7It’s like the House repealing Obamacare over and over and over…….
8Isn’t one definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? The R’s sure are a thick-headed bunch.
If “the federal government is unwilling to secure the border,” does that mean Abbott thinks that the federal government should exist and function? Have any of the teapea people asked themselves how much it would cost to “secure” the border”? Have they looked at a map? While they’re at it, tell them to look at the northern border, too. I would like to see how much they’d let their taxes rise to build a wall across Lake Erie to keep out the terrorists they believe are coming in by canoe.
9Love the photo. Is Greg one of Ricky’s conquests?
10It IS a lawyer full employment bill. Ol Greggo thinks all those lawyers gettin paid regularly will turn into votes for him. Just one more reason to have him out of office. Voters denying him the Governor’s Mansion would be a home run. Getting him out of the AG’s office and entirely off the State payroll would be a grand slam.
11Just curious: did Texas ever sue the Feds for help with the bills for that FLDS fiasco? My memory is that Rosita Swanton was suspected of being a federal agent when she made the phone call. And just how much DID all those DNA tests cost?
12I have an idea. Let’s get all the Tea Partiers to volunteer to go live along the border and make sure nobody sneaks past. Nothing works as well as doing it yourself.
13Marge, please no. I have friends on the Border, and the Tea Party people would just shoot them.
14@ Paul Paine: I’m thinking that if Treaty law is superior to US law, then the teabaggers will just want to secede to get out from under both US law and Treaty law. Of course, then they’ll be really confused when they discover that they are no longer Americans and they won’t have anybody but themselves to secure the border, which is now occupied largely by…oh, wait…
15“Secure the border.” All these people we’re talking about are in custody. They’ve been apprehended. By the border patrol.
