Trump on Cokie Roberts

September 18, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

“I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to California. “I respect you guys a lot, you people a lot. She was a real professional. Never treated me well, but I certainly respect her as a professional.”

Trump on the death of Cokie Roberts

Her entire life and career judged on whether or not she treated Trump nicely. What level of narcissism does that take? Is it the kind of narcissism that bubbles up like baking soda and vinegar or the kind that pounds rebar in the ground?

And what’s with Trump saying he respects reporters?

Preview of 2020?

September 18, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: 2020 Election, Trump

I believe most thoughtful Americans are more than a little concerned that, should Trump lose the election in 2020 he would refuse to concede and vacate office.  We’re getting a preview of that possibility right now in Israel as Netanyahu failed to get a majority of the votes last night in that country’s elections.  In his first speech after the election he refused to concede and blamed the media for biased coverage.  He went on to say that the Israeli government should be Zionist and not involve representatives of Arab heritage.  To be clear, 21% of the population of Israel are Arab muslims.

If you’re looking for a preview of 2020, here it is. Netanyahu just blamed his loss at the polls on the election.  Trump will do the same.  The only way Trump will ever leave office after an election defeat is to be be dragged out by his armpits.  Even his lawyer, Michael Cohen, said before Congress that if Trump loses the election next year that there will “never be a peaceful transition of power.”

It gives me cold chills thinking about it.

List of Things I Really Hate

We live dangerously close to Houston. All the rest of my family lives there.

Our 500 year flood plain has become become an annual event. Luckily, my family all live in the old parts of Houston in or near the Heights (which were called that for a reason).  We now live in a house that has never flooded since 1936. We should be okay. We will probably be trapped, but dry.

However, I have many, many friends who were flooded out during Harvey.  I am keeping them in my good thoughts.

Climate change is real. It’s in my backyard.

The worst part – we have tickets to a ballgame tonight.

We Love Our Hispanics

September 17, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Holy Moly, Trump literally said, “We love our Hispanics” in a speech in New Mexico and asked someone, “Who do you love more, Hispanics or America?”

Giving a speech totally aimed at Hispanics, Trump even claimed that Hispanics in America love him but also Hispanics from Venezuela and Cuba love him, too.

Trump’s disapproval rating among Hispanics stood at 79 percent in a Pew Research Center poll last month.

I’m not saying I’ve done polling or anything but I kinda suspect that Trump is not all that popular in Venezuela and Cuba either. That’s just a guess but I’d be will to bet $10 cash American money on it.

By the way, Trump lost New Mexico by 8 points.  I guess he thinks he didn’t kiss their butts enough because, after all, Trump thinks that butt kissing is what wins people over.  At least it works with him.

Here is Sean Spicer on Dancing With the Stars.

This wouldn’t even make the top five of the most humiliating things he’s done in his life.

As a friend said last night – the real fun starts when costume designers become part of the resistance.

Elaine Chao, wife of Mitch McConnell, is in a bit of a bind.

This is hot off the presses:

The House Oversight Committee on Monday launched an investigation into whether Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao is using her office to benefit herself and her family.

“The Committee is examining your misstatements of fact, your actions that may have benefitted the company in which you continued to hold shares, and your compliance with ethics and financial disclosure requirements,” Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Raja Krishnamoorthi(D-Ill.) wrote in a letter to Chao.

The investigation follows allegations of ethics violations committed by Chao, who is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), in her role in the Trump administration.

This is living, honest to God, cash back guarantee, iron clad proof that the rich think they are never rich enough. Mitch McConnell is 77 years old and Elaine Chao is 66.  What the hell are they still gathering money for? To bribe St. Peter?
