Hits and Mrses

Elaine Chao, wife of Mitch McConnell, is in a bit of a bind.

This is hot off the presses:

The House Oversight Committee on Monday launched an investigation into whether Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao is using her office to benefit herself and her family.

“The Committee is examining your misstatements of fact, your actions that may have benefitted the company in which you continued to hold shares, and your compliance with ethics and financial disclosure requirements,” Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Raja Krishnamoorthi(D-Ill.) wrote in a letter to Chao.

The investigation follows allegations of ethics violations committed by Chao, who is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), in her role in the Trump administration.

This is living, honest to God, cash back guarantee, iron clad proof that the rich think they are never rich enough. Mitch McConnell is 77 years old and Elaine Chao is 66.  What the hell are they still gathering money for? To bribe St. Peter?

Be social and share!

“Yes, they have more money.” — Ernest Hemingway

Which is why a $15,000 bribe for your kid’s education only nets you 2 weeks in jail.

Greetings and Felicitations to the graduate class of 14 days in stir.

When Martha Stewart went in, they sang lullabyes in her block:

    “Martha did a bad thing.,,”

  3. I don’t think they will have the opportunity to meet St Peter. Pretty sure they are both scheduled for the fast track straight to the bottom of hell.

  4. Seriously, JJ, if you were married to Moscow Mitch, what else would you care about?

  5. “What the hell are they still gathering money for?”

I hear those deluxe underground survival bunkers aren’t cheap these days. Especially if you need several. Extra bunkers for the help, so Mitch & Elaine can live underground in the style to which they’ve become accustomed above ground.

“What the hell are they still gathering money for?”

That question is purely rhetorical, right?

  7. What the hell are they still gathering money for?

To support themselves in the style to which they’ve become accustomed in some non-extradition country.

Amen Joel #7 – just what I was going to say. Just like the Sacklers have been stashing money offshore, we can be sure that the McConnells have as well. Until rich folk are tried and do some actual jail time, along with a heavy fine, this type of behavior will continue.

Joel, I do believe you nailed it. Actually overall, when they do have to present themselves to the pearly gates, St. Peter will tell them they are banished from the island.

  10. We should quit referring to them as trump cabinet members and start referring to them as trump lottery winners. Their job pays $189,292/year, plus benefits, plus pension, plus whatever you can steal.

  11. I wish I may, I wish I might, I wish I’d see Moscow Mitch fail from sight…

  12. Also ironclad proof that in our current society the rich and powerful feel totally entitled to whatever the hell they want without any concern for being held accountable.

  13. DD – How about “rich” = being rich enough that you don’t have to work to be comfortable?

    13
  14. I guess this needs to be said, too:
Some folks are addicted to money, and will work themselves to death, or grift themselves into prison, no matter how rich they are.

They will die fighting for one more penny, like the wino’s body found on a park bench, holding a half-full wine bottle.

    14
  15. This is just a test.

    15
  16. I hope Hell really exists and they are creating new misery and horror for those who are working to kill the planet and make money from it. Anyone who works for and supports Trump needs to suffer here first and then suffer in eternity.

  17. Grandma Ada says:

David Duff #13 – I can give you an example of the rich. Back in the 1980s when I was in public accounting, the firm sent me to see one of our clients who just hated making his quarterly estimated tax payments. By waiting until the end of the year and making one big payment, the interest and penalties were enormous. After I made my case for making the payments quarterly, he looked at me with this hanged dog expression and told me he couldn’t make in on less than $700 a month. He actually was living hand to mouth on $700,000 a month. That is who the rich are. The $189K that John #10 refers to is chump change!
