Trump on Cokie Roberts

September 18, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

“I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to California. “I respect you guys a lot, you people a lot. She was a real professional. Never treated me well, but I certainly respect her as a professional.”

Trump on the death of Cokie Roberts

Her entire life and career judged on whether or not she treated Trump nicely. What level of narcissism does that take? Is it the kind of narcissism that bubbles up like baking soda and vinegar or the kind that pounds rebar in the ground?

And what’s with Trump saying he respects reporters?

  1. I guess, in Trump’s mind, threatening with physical harm = respect.
    Or something.

ME. Babble platitudes. ME. Sums it up.

  3. Steve in Beaverton says:

I wonder what will be said about Trump when he finally passes. He doesn’t deserve respect like Cokie Roberts. He deserves the opposite and I hope that’s his legacy. His tombstone should say “here lies something that was human”.

  4. In a strange way, because it comes from Trump, that’s inadvertently high praise for Cokie Roberts. He’s telling the world she did her job with journalistic integrity.

I think it’s more like Mentos in a Coke bottle – don’t do this inside! On the Psychopath Test this would be #2 – Grandiose sense of self worth and #4 – pathological lying. By the way, he fits all 20 questions.

He never heard of her before yesterday.

  8. “She was a trailblazing figure; a role model to young women at a time when the profession was still dominated by men; a constant over forty years of a shifting media landscape and changing world, informing voters about the issues of our time and mentoring young journalists every step of the way,” Obama said in a statement.
“She will be missed — and we send our condolences to her family.”

One is certainly not like the other. The Bushes and Pelosi also gave gracious statements.

  9. 1) Dotard45 hates journalists but he now respects them?

    2) Cokie Roberts didn’t treat him fairly. Waaaaahhhh, poor baby!

    3) Cokie Roberts will be remembered well in history.

    4) Dotard45 the opposite. And worse.

    5) Obama = class act

    9
  10. The Surly Professor says:

Obama IS a class act, and easily produces the kind of statement he made, off the cuff and without needing notes.

The question is: when Trump finally checks into Motel Deep 6, what on earth can Obama come up with to say about him? Talk about a challenge! Of course, the burial will involve large earth movers, a lead-lined coffin, and an EPA inspector supervising. So with everyone standing around in radiation decontamination suits and using sealed respirators, maybe no one will be expected to actually speak.

  11. Dotard 45 does not know who he is dealing with when dissing Cokie. Obviously he has never heard if the Boggs family and their history in D.C. Her dad was the late hale Boggs. Her mom took over his Congressional seat when he died in an airplane accident. That famiiy has done more for this country than his ever will.

  12. With the news of her passing I have to admit my strongest memory of her was as a spokesperson for the D.C. “villagers” decrying the “coarseness” of the Clinton administration.
Tricky dicks impeachable crimes did not earn that great a rebuke.held
Carter’s people got some of it.
Addled ronnies admin. attack on Constitutional powers was not worthy of a rebuke
Perjurer poppa admin was held up as the “beau gets” ideal of a tragic group no matter criminal perjury, obstruction of justice and criminal fiscal management.
But Oh Clinton was such a barbarian storming the gates of civilization and culture that his impeachment was due just for offending the “villagers”.

Even now I never read, or heard, anything from, or attributed to, her about demented donnies short fingered vulgarian crew of new york property thrives trashing everything they touch But the “villagers” are, at worst, acquiescence but somewhat supportive of his coarseness.

Sorry I know it is not nice but it is the first memory of her that came to mind.
Just another right wing shill pretending to be a journalist.
