You Knew It Was Just a Matter of Time.
I just knew that someone would eventually see Republicans beating everyone over the head with their Bibles.
First the robber hit the gas station clerk with a Bible.
Blow after blow from the good book was delivered to the Circle K clerk’s face and head “in a boxing motion” while the employee loaded an ice cooler outside the store, according to a Toledo police report.
The man accused of hitting the clerk with the Bible and the ensuing tussle with police is Abbott Griffin, 57, of 2845 Eldora Dr., who was charged with aggravated robbery and held Friday in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Well hell, it works for Republicans.

2Once I saw the robber’s first name, Abbott, I was reminded of another Abbott who uses his Bible to do far worse things to people.
3As with other forms of robbery, it is only considered a crime when done on a one-off, individual basis. Only if one commits such crimes on a vast scale does one become too big to prosecute. It also helps to have a few low-level underlings willing to be publicly sacrificed via a show trial.

Was it Mathew 5-39? When you are slapped on one cheek you then turn the other. The Church of Bud says to smack your assailant meaningful blows about the head and solar plexus area.

10Good grief. I always said nobody oughta beat someone about the face and ears with a Bible but i never knew someone actually did it.
11Perhaps the guy was just using the latest edition of the Wicked Bible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked_Bible). You know, the one that says “Thou Shalt Steal.”
12What is it with the name Abbott today? If a word could be played as a lottery number, that’s the number I’d play. In LynnN’s link to the Wikipedia article, there is reference to Gregory Abbot in the very first paragraph. Unbelievable.
