Yeah, Yeah, Let’s Put HER In Prime Time

August 27, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

While looking over the GOP schedule for their convention, I couldn’t help but notice that they put Rick Santorum on Tuesday night at 7:00.  I suspect that fits under the theory that you should take your medicine and get it over with.  Stick him at the front and hope everybody forgets him by the end.

Right before Rick the Pious speaks, there’s somebody named Janine Turner speaking.  That name sounded vaguely familiar to me.  I looked it up.  She’s the actress who played the role of Maggie on Northern Exposure.  And then June Cleaver in Leave it to Beaver. In 2007, she appeared in a promotional video for ‘Christoga,’ a “Christian form of Yoga” because, you know, regular yoga is probably Muslim or something.  Click the link and learn that Sweet Jesus wants you to go around with your belly button hanging out and doing crazy crap in front of candles and crosses.

And then I found this interesting tidbit on wiki —

Turner lives on a longhorn cattle ranch outside of Dallas, Texas, with her daughter, Juliette Turner-Jones.  Juliette’s father is Jerry Jones, Jr., son of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Turner and Jones had an affair while Jones was still married to his wife.

Okay, so then she writes a book called Holding Her Head High: 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History. No Honey, you’re not a single mother, you’re a home-wrecker who boinged some other woman’s husband.  That ain’t nothing to be proud of – even in Texas.

Now I’m not saying that Ms. Turner will fit snugly in the arms of GOP hypocrisy … oh hell, yes I am.  That’s exactly what I’m saying.  She get all Jesus-upped to dress like a pavement princess and make a few bucks.  She makes sparks with somebody’s husband and then claimed she did it to change history.

And I’ll be damned, “On May 17, 2010 Turner was a paid speaker at an event sponsored by the “Americans for Prosperity” foundation, honoring Tea Party citizen leaders.”  It’s a career move.

Where do they find these women?  Well, wherever it is, they can keep them.

  1. I always KNEW Dr. Joel shoulda steared way clear of her, whatever the sparks!

    1
  2. Obama and the Dems get celebrities like George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

Repugs get Janine Turner and Victoria Jackson.

    2
  3. She’s an insult to single mothers everywhere!

    3
  4. daChipster says:

She was also in Steel Magnolias where, apparently, she learned NOTHING.

I’m morally certain that Ann Dunham, mother of Barack, is nowhere within that tome. But I’m wondering if she included Agrippina, mother of Nero?

I am sorely disappointed to hear this. I actually admired the lady…once. Though *I* (unlike many Rs) can actually separate reality from fiction, I adored the character of Maggie and hate to think that the actress who give her such fiesty life is, IRL (in Real Life), an R-bot. Yeeeaach!

  6. She gets points for not having an abortion, but loses more for having sex with a man that was not her husband and a married man at that!!!!

    6
  7. And you know only straight people can be married….because of the family values of being able to have kids and all that.
Give me a loving, committed gay couple raising a family over THESE fake Christians any day!!!!!

It’s the star on the helmet. It gets ’em every time.

  9. Holy hubris. Just how is it this woman thinks she “changed history?”

    9
  10. Us Ricks everywhere want Santorum’s first name changed to Vlad.

    10
  11. I remember Janine Turner from General Hospital about 30 years ago – she played Laura. She was a young woman who claimed she was raped. They showed her dealing with her trauma and going to group therapy sessions and I thought it was good to bring the subject up to audiences – remember, 30 years ago it wasn’t talked about much.

The characters became popular and the story went from her dealing with being raped to realizing that she was secretly denying her love for him and really they had “made love” that night. They eventually got married – Luke and Laura’s wedding was a big audience draw. I wasn’t watching by that time. I stopped when they took the story of a rape and then reduced it to all the old misogynist, stereotype BS – women say ‘no’ but they really mean ‘yes’, women secretly want to be raped, women just flippantly cry ‘rape’, etc.

I lost respect for her many, many years ago.

    11
  12. Geanie Francis was Laura on General Hospital.

But anyway–Janine Turner campaigned for Sarah Palin. Let her speak–maybe it will turn out just as well again!

  13. Uncle Dave says:

This may be the real story of why Jerry Jones’s eyes look the way they do. Junior told his daddy he had knocked up some chick, big daddy asked Junior with whom he had been so careless, Junior confessed, big daddy’s eyes bugged out in horror, and big daddy was rendered permanently gotch-eyed.

    13
  14. I can’t talk about Santorum without spewing things Mama would whap me for.

It was Genie Francis that played Laura on GH btw.

  15. Brianm0122 says:

They are all selling something, in her case its…

A BOOK!! What were you thinking??

    15
  16. Women of lower socio-economic levels who sleep with married men get called Rush’s S-word, trailer trash or ho’s. Double standard much?

    16
  17. Thanks all for the correction – I don’t know where my mind slipped on that one.

    17
  18. beelzebub says:

Hmmmph! That’s all I’ve got to say. Plus, that picture of her in a big old State School turtleneck ain’t doing her no favors.

    18
  19. Oh Lord! Nym fail.

    19
  20. Larry McLaughlin says:

I posted this story on a Yahoo story about the convention today. Here’s one of the responses. I think it says a lot.

“Yep, Janine turned out to be a real kook. I’ve been aware of this for a few years now. Acts really weird around her daughter, too. Cringe-worthy, so perfect for the cons.”

    20
  21. Northern Exposure was our favorite show ever. We’ve never had a tv so we would head over to our friend’s house every Monday night. When she came out as a big Dubya support were bummed. Glad I didn’t know the other stuff.

    21
  22. I don’t think they do find these women. They clone them.

    22
  23. I’m ashamed to even think this……. but I think having babies by rich guys, who then have to pay child support to the mothers……. has damned near turned into a cottage industry.
Maybe it beats having to do honest work for a living, I don’t know. What I think I do know….. is that pregnancy is still a “choice” for a woman. There are too darned many ways to prevent that from happening……. if you don’t want it to happen. Women control that.

This woman is a “prime” example. She found a rich man. Had an affair. Had a baby, and probably collects tons of money in child support. Especially here in Texas. Doesn’t have to work to support her child at all. She’s not a typical “single mom”. They get up every morning, go to work, keep a house, kids, help with homework, cook, and most struggle to make ends meet.

She is, however, the perfect “single mom” for this Republican convention. No money worries at all….. At least until her child turns 18, and the child support, from the rich daddy, stops.

  24. OK – a delicious story in the Guardian – Mitts grandpa, under arrest for polygamy borrowed bail money from a friend, but skipped to Mexico where Mitts father was born to one of 5 wives. The loan for the bail is still outstanding, as they never paid it back!

    24
  25. Apparently Christoga is best practiced with an Orly Taitz hair helmet.

Going to go bleach my eyes now.

    25
  26. Okay, so Mitt’s father was a Mexican. So What?

    26
  27. Miss Jocie says:

Just to set the record straight… Jerry Jr. was NOT married when he and Janine were together. She refused to take money from him and IS a hard-working single mother who has no hired help. This is America and being a Republican is allowed even in Hollywood. Before you judge someone, get your facts straight at least.

    27
  28. I know them both says:

Jerry supports his daughter but is not involved in her life. He must wait until Juliette is old enough to make that decision as herself. Janine is very controlling. But she has received every penny owed for supporting Juliette.

    28
  29. Why isn’t he an insult to fatherhood???? You know the saying, It takes two to tango. He broke his marriage vows by having the affair. Why does everyone call her a homewrecker???? He’s the homewrecker, he cheated on his wife. Could it be that he’s getting a pass because his last name is Jones????
