Yeah, Because It’s Been Working So Damn Well
Gov. Greg Abbott, still clinging pathetically to Donald Trump’s invisible coattails, has called a halt to future plans for re-opening Texas and laying out a bigger Yea Covid 19! welcome mat.
In case you haven’t heard, Texas is drowning in virus. Our ICU units are filled to capacity, elective surgery is halted, and the Governor wants you to wash your hands.
“This temporary pause will help our state corral the spread until we can safely enter the next phase of opening our state for business,” Abbott said. “I ask all Texans to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, washing their hands regularly, and socially distancing from others.”
Are you freekin’ kidding me? That is exactly what got us here.
Look, Greg, let’s chat. Texas is the home of conspiracy nuts. Remember Branch Davidians? Jade Helm mean anything to you? Oh hell, I forgot, you fell for that Russian troll conspiracy yourownself. Greg, when you tell people that Texas is fine, you just encourage the anti-maskers to go out and kiss each other. You and your Lt Governor don’t wear a mask. You’re not helping.
We’re not fine, Greg, and we are not fine because you have failed us.
Forgive me, customers, but I needed to explode this morning. “Temporary pause?” Really? When you are driving the wrong direction a temporary pause is still not going to get you to the swimming hole.

1A Greg Abbott temporary pause is like temporary insanity. Bad decisions will be made, and those affected will have to live with it later.
2As far as I can tell, contact tracing–calling new cases with instructions and with questions about who they might have exposed in the days around their onset of symptoms–has barely started in Texas. Austin has been cutting state public health budgets for two generations, all in the name of triumphing over Wasteful Government Spending. I think the Republican thinking is, “if they didn’t have it at the Alamo, we can do without it,” or something like that.
3Don’t any of y’all listen to the tangerine anus? Just stop counting and it will all go away.
4All pauses are temporary. A permanent pause is a stop.
Sorry, but when the stupidity becomes overwhelming, I retreat into grammatical nit-picking. Please go on with the discussion.
5This is like closing the barn door after the horse has already gotten out. Did they really think that “re-opening” the states would not lead to this very moment? Were they that gullible or that maniacal?
6Every time somebody talks about “TEXAS” as if it were something special, they’re just feeding the egomania.

10Maybe if we asked Governor Cuomo to please come down and take over? I know he is talky, but they seem to have it under control.
11But didn’t you know that all this enforced mask wearing is a conspiracy against concealed weapon license holders since they can’t carry when their faces are covered? At least, that’s what they are saying on Facebook so it must be true.
12I hold Abbott responsible for every case and every death since he decided money was more important that the lives of his constituents. Clay Jenkins wanted to keep things closed and make masks mandatory. Abbott told Jenkins to get outta the way. I am spitting mad, as well, JJ.
13Um, years ago Justin Trudeau’s daddy made a “temporary” decision based on that country’s emergency rules. Well, it lasted for years. Could Abbot possibly be even half that smart?
