Well, Maybe He’s Just Real Late

If you’re like me and God love you if you are, you’ve been waiting to see whether Don McGahn is willing to go to jail for Trump and …

The House Judiciary Committee just adjourned today’s hearing. Former White House counsel Don McGahn was scheduled to testify during it, but he skipped.

The hearing finished after 21 members voted to adjourn. Another 13 voted no.

  1. I wouldn’t worry too much about this. First it gives more impetus for the motion to convene impeachment hearings.

Second, it makes them look guilty.

Third, when impeachment hearings actually happen he will pretty much have to come then. And you will want newsworthy testimony at that time rather than “this is all old news” media line we get which allows Republicans to pretend that everything Trump does has become acceptable.

McGahn is a private citizen who is not beholden to anyone, unless he is: grateful to his capo and expecting a laurel wreath and freemoluments Or,worried about some Damoclean sword over his bed after looking at some photos fedexed to him.

Contempt at this point means nothing without fines, jail or both.
How many deadlines have come and gone now?

Presumably he needs to employed. I am not sympathetic to his position because he worked so hard to get there, but if he wants to eat lunch anywhere in town again there is a line he will have to toe.

McGahn is rolling the dice on IQ4.5 being around to hold the pardon pen. Although expecting loyalty from Donnie is akin to thinking snake eyes is a good thing.

If I remember correctly, he’s part of a law firm that’s afraid of losing business if Spankee turns sour on him…

    Never forget: follow the money.

LizzyMom@6, the money trail to which you refer is the firm of Jones Day.

“If McGahn were to defy Trump and testify before Congress, it could endanger his own career in Republican politics and put his law firm, Jones Day, in the president’s crosshairs. Trump has mused about instructing Republicans to cease dealing with the firm, which is deeply intertwined in Washington with the GOP, according to one White House official and a Republican close to the White House not authorized to speak publicly about private conversations.” https://www.wonkette.com/don-mcgahn-to-congress-lock-me-up-lock-me-up-lock-me-up

Old Scratch McConnell wasn’t shy about getting “in your face” with obstructing the Garland nomination or anything President Obama related. But now with his own butt seen to be Ponzi scheming with Russian aluminum will Old Scratch take his defiance out on thin ice to save Donnie?

Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack The sound of ice breaking and hopefully signaling a Con feeding frenzy among Cons.

  8. This “executive privilege” is one thing but the way it is being used is quite another. Translation: “executive” intimidation. Mcgann might sincerely be worrying about the fate of his family. This is where the FBI should come in, right? Hmmm.
