Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
ALL RIGHT!
1You go Girl!
2Congratulations, Hilz! We’ll see what we can do in the next 3 months to give you a functioning Congress.
3Finally
4Hot diggety damn and hallelujah!
5Clinton-Kaine 2016!
Obama-Warren 2024!
6I’m so f**king thrilled I can hardly contain myself! I may be a sobbing mess when Hillary officially becomes the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States of America!
I’m thinking of my Gramma, born in 1900. She was so much before her time. She’d be crying with me, my Gramma, one of the beautiful foremothers. This is one of the best nights of my life.
7Short and so very, very sweet!
8Okay I know this isn’t the kind of story for this comment, but something came into my noggin and this was the latest story. I’ve said before that part of me thinks Donnie never wanted the job, just the publicity. He’s all about the brand. He started out with outrageous and and just kept doubling down, hoping he’d be beaten. Seriously, think about it. The 17 year old bully takes a dare. He can’t back down. EVER. But no matter what vile B.S. he spouts, he keeps winning. What’s a bully to do? He’s already shown he doesn’t want to do the work (remember John Kasich’s job offer?) So what could he possibly do to tank his candidacy but not appear weak? Well, repugnantcans have had great success convincing a lot of folks that Hillary can’t be trusted with classified info. It only took 47 congressional investigations and untold millions. But by God it produced results! So let’s see. Lack of trust on national security. It’s proven itself. He still doesn’t have to blink. For him, win win. Also, glad to be a part of the “moral resuscitator. That was awesome.
9P.P., i think your story is right on target.
10THANK YOU, PKM!!
It’s both, people! President AND Congress make the laws here. And a note to the Bernie crowd: You did not lose! Bernie is still here! With him and Warren and a more Dem Senate the changes you want CAN happen! And a more Dem House! We need that, too.
President, Senate and House! Game, set, match!
WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN! Bernie is for Hillary. Are you FOR Bernie? Then support him. A vote for her is a vote for him.
11Dang, a President who looks like me… well, has the same internal organs as more than half of us, anyway. It’s about time! And let’s go all out for ALL the Democrats!
Can’t remember who she was some years ago who said that their father told her brothers that they could grow up to be anything they wanted to be… but he didn’t say that to her. Now fathers can say it to all of their children.
12That’s right, Rhea.
13Hill Yes!!!!
14My Mamaw, born in 1888, was very progressive for her time. She would be so proud.
15Little girls who are the only female sibling to brothers – plural – have to some times fight with them to get their respect. That means win the fight. Thats Hill. She had two brothers and a mother who told her to go ahead and fight whoever was messing with her and moreover to win. Dorothy Rodham had a hellish childhood of abuse. Herewith is my congrats to Dorothy for raising Hillary to be a cage fighter! I think this is something El Donaldo did not know and he is about to find out! Go Hill!
16Did HRC tweet every 2 minutes during the wingnut convention like Drumpf did this week?
17My Facebook post from last night: My great grandmother fought for the right to vote right here in Hamilton County. When my grandfather saw her suffering in a cold open wagon to go vote that first November, he couldn’t figure out why she fought so hard to suffer in the cold so much. Fast forward to 1986 and I was privileged to graduate from UT Law School at a time when women were just beginning to swell the ranks but Prof Wright wouldn’t call on a woman in his class. In 1988 I was excluded from an important lunch with my fellow attorneys because they were going to the Grill at the Ft Worth Men’s club and women weren’t allowed. Just this month I attended a conference in San Antonio when another older white male attendee asked me to serve him. He just assumed any woman’s purpose was to serve him. For many years, I have been called a bitch simply because I made the same argument just as strongly as my male opponent. So, tonight, I am going to open my best bottle of wine, find my favorite blanket, and listen to the first woman nominated by a major party for President of the United States. I might shed a tear or two.
18Chills and shivers, joyous tears. This is so worth all the demeaning comments, unfair treatment, salary and promotion discrimination and sexual put downs. I am so grateful to the women who fought the battle for equality during the last centuries and to Hillary for being so tenacious, intelligent and compassionate as she approaches the finish line. She’s spent her life doing good for others, now she can accomplish even more as POTUS. Hallelujah!!!
19My younger sister once told me, “I’m too much of a lady to be a feminist.” I nearly choked. She’s since grown up. It’s time for the USA to grow up, too.
20It is definitely Hillary’s time!! I voted twice for Barack because I just knew in my heart that it was HIS time and now … I know it is simply the right time for Hillary!! And I did shed more then a few tears during her acceptance speech last night … plus some of the speeches leading up to hers.
FABULOUS!!!
21Okay, I might be a bit weepy this week because I haven’t been taking my meds. They level my mood, but are also sedating, so if I wait too long, I just skip ’em.
Anyway, watched the recordings this AM from last might. Tears don’t up for Reverend Barbour, who just rocked it!
Cried a little when the Muslim parents whose soldier son was killed were on.
And when Hillary came out, I just cried. Not sobbing, but just so much emotion that I kept welling up so it could have an outlet. I can’t even identify the emotions. But I was literally filled to overflowing.
22I HATE Autocorrect!
That should be “reared up” for the Reverend.
23ACK – 3rd time!
24TEARED up.
WONDERFUL! In a few short months we will be toasting President Hillary Clinton. Go Girl!
25To the Muslim parents and ALL gold star parents: I’m sorry for your loss. It is sad that the W administration pretty much wanted to keep you hidden. For those of us that railed against the wars of the recent past, (for myself) it was mainly because I couldn’t stand to see trading your blood for misguided goals.
I hope that the fools who cravenly bay to shed other children’s blood can yet again be held back by our choices of elected officials.
26I’m a Bernie supporter who will be voting for Hillary. LOVE the “Herstory” cartoon! 🙂
27Lunargent, no matter how many tries it takes, I get what you are saying. You too maryelle, Yates, all the other fighters!
My battles were in sports through high school, college and then as a coach. Shaming, humiliation, physical attacks. Yeah, we know.
And there she was . . . Hillary in her dazzling white suit, every presidential inch of her. I am so grateful, so grateful to all the foremothers, and grateful to be a foremother, as are other women here. We did this. We all made this happen, made it possible.
28BTW, I thought Rev. Barber was very powerful. I was riveted as he spoke. Such authority! Such passion! Such intensity! (He scared me a little too.)
29I didn’t realize until I heard it reported that Hillary wears white to honor the Suffragettes. I hadn’t heard about that symbolism before. Previously, my theory was that, unlike red or blue, it’s a nonpartisan color. It also represents good – and innocence. So I think it works on several levels.
