Wall Cam

Y’all, Jared Kushner finally did something.  His crowning achievement is this

Jared Kushner and other senior Trump administration officials are planning to set up web cameras to live-stream construction of President Trump’s border wall, going against objections from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, according to four people familiar with the White House proposal.

I kinda suspect it’s to give Republicans something to watch during the impeachment hearings.  I have some in-laws who we see once a year but I keep up with their kids on Facebook.  One of the rabid Trump supporters posted this morning.

I know this woman. She could not define “conservative” if her life depended on it. I think this is the Republican mega-message because all of her friends lamented that they were missing their daytime teevee dramas and so they are not watching it either.

But, if they can watch the wall get built – little problem in that it will never be finished – they can say that Trump is fulfilling his promise.  I am sure that Customs and the Army Corp of Engineers only oppose this because they are the deep state, right?

Look we already have a 24 hour a day Trump infomercial – and Sean Hannity runs it.

Be social and share!

  1. A TRUE conservative ‘merican means being a democrat…as only democrats have been close to keeping the budget in the black. But if she means bigoted ahole not wanting the things to change from the 1850’s, then that is the same as idiot!

  2. That’s gonna be some compelling teevee right there. Does the coverage include watching the paint dry?

    Conservatives is weird.

  3. Mean old Jughead. Now he’s gone and hurt Louie Gohmert’s feelings. Conservatives DO have something to watch, if only they’d unstick their remotes from Fox Not the News and get on to C-Span where Louie performs his greatest hits from the Book of Crazy daily. At least give Louie a cameo role on Border Watch; maybe perched on a brick chowing down on all that barbecue he purchases with his modest stipend from the Koch brothers.

L.Long@1, you state that the Cons want a return to the 1850s. I say let’s give it to them. A return to tar and feathering featuring IQ4.5, Moscow Mitch and the usual suspects.

  4. Heard one woman who said this is a waste of time and lamented she will be missing her “stories” especially since one was doing something unusual – projecting a year into the future. Nothing like burying your head DEEP in the sand. So sick of the ignorants in this country – especially those who choose to remain ignorant.

  5. A wall cam video sounds like an episode of The Apprentice. Some people show up, move this and that around, and nothing of consequence occurs.

Will it air Trump 2020 commercials? They’ve never passed up an opportunity for a dollar before.

Maybe they’ll also get to watch Mexican drug couriers cutting through The Wall with a Milwaukee Sawzall (under a hundred dollars from Amazon).

  7. Fox News coverage of the RNC’s continuous replay of successful impeachment deconstructions of ill prepared bureaucratic envoys offering apparently sketchy opinions of “quip prod quotes.”

  8. From Twitter:
    Philip Crowther @PhilipinDC

Pressed by @PeterAlexander, the acting CBP Commissioner just admitted that not a single mile of border wall has been built where there had not been any type of barrier before.

  9. When Chinese Premier Xi Ping visited the White House, Trump questioned him at length about the Great Wall of China.

Xi Ping assured him it had kept out invaders for tens of thousands of years, and that it was unlikely any other country could build such a great wall, much less a better one.

Trump took the bait and announced that not only would HIS wall be greater, but it would keep invaders out for a MILLION years.

Since then, every administration official in the Forbidden City has been laughing.

  10. Next up in impeachment hearings: A parade of key witnesses
What’s ahead on the impeachment schedule:

    MORE WITNESSES
The House intelligence committee, which is conducting the impeachment hearings, has set a packed schedule of open hearings over the next week.

On Friday, lawmakers will hear from former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine

    * Marie Yovanovitch, who was ousted in May at Trump’s direction. She told lawmakers in a closed-door deposition last month that there was a “concerted campaign” against her as Trump and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani pushed for probes of Democrat Joe Biden and other political opponents.

Eight more witnesses will testify next week, some in back-to-back hearings on the same day.

    * Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a National Security Council official who said he raised concerns in the White House about Trump’s push for investigations;

    * Gordon Sondland, Trump’s European Union ambassador, who spoke to the president about the Ukraine policy;

    * Fiona Hill, a former Russia adviser to the White House who told lawmakers about national security adviser John Bolton’s concerns about Ukraine. All witnesses testifying this week and next have already spoken to investigators in closed depositions, some of them for 10 hours or more.
    ___
    BACK BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Though those private depositions are largely done, Democrats have scheduled two more for this week — at the same time they are conducting the open hearings.

Democrats have scheduled a closed-door session with:

    * David Holmes, the political counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, for Friday. An official familiar with the matter said Holmes is the person Taylor referred to in his testimony on Wednesday when he said an aide had overheard a conversation between Sondland and Trump in July about Ukraine conducting investigations.

They have also scheduled a Saturday deposition with:

    * Mark Sandy, an official at the Office of Management and Budget. Sandy is one of several OMB officials who have been invited by the committee to appear as lawmakers try to find out more about the military aid that was withheld. So far, none of those officials has shown up for their depositions as Trump has instructed his administration not to cooperate.

While the open hearings are being conducted by the intelligence panel, the closed-door hearings have been held by the intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight and Reform committees.
    ___
    HEADED TO JUDICIARY
The public hearings are expected to last at least another week.

    * After that, the three committees will submit a report to the Judiciary panel, which will oversee the impeachment process.
Judiciary is expected to hold its own hearings and, eventually, vote on articles of impeachment. Democrats say they are still deciding whether to write them.

    * Next would come a floor vote, and if articles of impeachment are approved by the House, there would then be a Senate trial.
House Democrats are hoping to finish the process by the end of the year. A Senate trial, if called for, would likely come in 2020.
