US Government Now Run by Incompetent Morons

January 05, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: Iran, Trump

So, let’s recap the week:

  1. Trump, against all advice, unilaterally had the second most powerful person in the Iranian government killed by drone in Baghdad.  Seven others were killed along with him.
  2. Trump informed Lindsey Graham before the attack, but apparently no one else.  After the attack he spoke only to Republicans and only now is congressional leadership being briefed.
  3. Evidence to justify the killings has been described by congressional sources has been described as “razor thin”.
  4. Trump has continued to threaten Iran with acts of massive destruction if they retaliate (via Twitter).
  5. The Iraqi Parliament has voted to expel all US troops from the country.  The vote was taken at the request of Iraqi prime minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.  He’s sure to sign it.
  6. Today, Iran announced that it is now withdrawing from the nuclear treaty of 2015 and will begin enriching uranium immediately.
  7. Pompeo was on all the news programs this morning freely lying and defending the indefensible.
  8. Pence lied on Twitter yesterday that Soleimani was involved in 9/11, trying to give cover to Trump.
  9. Trump played golf today.

Our government is run by an incompetent, totally corrupt moron who’s being enabled by lying radicals.  It will take decades to recover from this cancer on our republic.

Be social and share!

ElJ, you assume that we will recover.

I don’t have that faith. I fear the great American Experiment is coming to an ignoble end.

  4. 2. Trump informed Lindsey Graham before the attack, but apparently no one else.

I’d like to offer a correction if I may.
He couldn’t control his ego and, like the town gossip, boasted about it to his friends.
    Edit:
In the five days prior to launching a strike that , Donald Trump roamed the halls of Mar-a-Lago, his private resort in Florida, and started dropping hints to close associates and club-goers that something huge was coming.

“He kept saying, ‘You’ll see,’” one of the sources recalled, describing a conversation with Trump days before Thursday’s strike.

Trump’s gossipy whispers regarding a “big” response in Iraq foreshadowed what was to come. After hours of silence, senior officials in the Trump administration argued that what had taken place in Iraq was not an act of aggression. Instead, they said both publicly and behind closed doors on the Hill that was designed to “advance the cause of peace,” as U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Brian Hook put it in a Friday.

Those Mar-a-Lago guests received more warning about Thursday’s attack than Senate staff did, and about as much clarity. A classified briefing on Friday, the first the administration gave to the Hill, featured broad claims about what the Iranians were planning and little evidence of planning to bring about the “de-escalation” the administration says it wants.

As I ponder the murder of the Iranian general, I was looking at a map of the area. Iran has a long border with Russia and as Nancy says, all roads lead there. My mom had a good friend, an Iranian woman who was the first woman to receive a Ph.D. From Rice in geochemistry – think nuclear. When she returned to Iran, she was frequently back and forth to Russia; that’s how we’d get letters, she couldn’t mail from Iran. I wonder what Russia/Iran deal has been secretly struck. I wonder if anyone in DC has considered that?

  6. Captain Dan says:

Trump will commence bombing the Iran uranium plants thereby further escalating the Trump Middle East War!

Congress can then complete the impeachment process removing Trump and Pence from the oval office and the White House!

    6
  7. I wonder what is going to happen when Iraq throws US forces out.

Will Dotard insist upon being paid for infrastructure left behind? Or simply refuse to go…

    7
  8. Now?? In the last 50 years or so, more often than not.

  9. Grandma Ada:
I guarantee there’s entire divisions of organizations who’ve been screaming about this.
Unfortunately they’re prevented from sounding the alarm by perfectly reasonable security reasons.
But that’s just my opinion and I’m just as full of shit as anybody else.

  10. I hope this gains some traction:

Yale psychiatrist: Pelosi can request “72-hour hold” of Trump after he responded to impeachment with Iran attack.

‘What would an involuntary evaluation look like? We have to apply the same principles to an unprecedented situation, not rely on “this looks different than what I am used to seeing.” In the case of family, members can call 911; in the case of a president, citizens could draw up a demand. Numerous citizens have approached me about this since our last interview, and I have recommended a petition. If millions sign, it cannot be ignored. As a mental health professional who could be called in to evaluate, I cannot start it, but any citizen can. Citizens, as the president’s employers, are acceptable auspices, especially if Congress or other governmental bodies are not acting.’

  11. MS SHARON GREIFF says:

Latest update from our fearless leader:

President Donald Trump tweeted Saturday evening “..targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!”

Sweet mother of pearl – this madness has to stop!!!

    1. This threat is the threat of war – congress and senate need to stop him – emergency meetings must be start monday morning.
    2. Bombing cultural sites will also knowingly bomb civilians – that is a war crime.
    3. Knowing performing the above makes all U.S. “cultural sites” open season
    4. Where the hell is the joint chiefs of staff?
    5. Where is the United Nations and the G7?
    6. Mexico and Canada – shut down your borders immediately – who knows what crazy as people are going back and forth – protect yourselves

    11
  12. Here’s where we’re at.
There’s always been folks who believe that our vision of the world is morally right. No matter what it takes to achieve it. Strength is proof of our divine birthright. It’s our way or the highway.
We’ve got a guy who’s drunk on the power he’s been given, and also (and most importantly) the power he believes he has because of his malignant narcissism. He’s a perfect fit for the troglodytes who think America deserves and is entitled to whatever the hell we want.

    12
  13. If the previous scale of Presidential incompetence & moronic decision making measured from 1-10, Trump has expanded it, and I see no reason the new range should be capped with an upper limit.

It wouldn’t last long with the potential for even greater stupidities he’s created this past week.

  14. Sharon Greiff says:

    Update:
In 2017, for example, a United Nations Security Council resolution “condemns the unlawful destruction of cultural heritage, including the destruction of religious sites and artifacts.” That resolution came as a response to the Islamic State’s destruction of a number of major historic and cultural sites in Syria and Iraq in 2014 and 2015.
The UN was clear then that actions targeting cultural locations constituted a war crime.

  15. A few thoughts:
Personal anecdote: I took a computer programming class back in 1973. Our teacher was from Iran. (He also drove a sports car, was handsome, and seemed very “masculine”, and obviously made an impression on 20 year old me, lol, but that’s not important for this discussion.) My university has a computer science program and apparently lots of foreign students were/are enrolled. So… I’ve read that Iran is said to have great capabilities for cyber attacks. They’ve done this already with Saudi Arabia. They could really mess things up here (along with Russia and China).

Cultural sites in Iran are important to the history of humankind, not just Iran. Something Dotard45 would not understand. And destroying them is a crime.

Apparently protests within Iran against their current regime have now unified their people against us instead.

The US isn’t exactly blameless in causing death and destruction in that part of the world. Even President Obama’s drone strikes killed many innocents. I was horrified with this but at least I felt like Obama must have good information and gave serious thought to the action and what would be the reaction before proceeding.

Dotard45 is impulsive, doesn’t read or listen to anyone, acts in a way to puff himself up or enrich or protect himself. Khomenei (sp) apparently insulted Dotard by tweet the day before and perhaps that’s why the general’s killing was chosen as the extreme response. Hillary warned us.

Reports of Iranian Americans who are US citizens or hold green cards are being detained at the Canadian border and perhaps Mexican border. Reps Jayapal of Seattle and Barbara Lee of CA tweeted about it, with phone numbers for people to call. Sounds like a typical trump admin isolationist response (ban Muslims? Now ban Iranians, even citizens?)

The general consensus is that this action has caused people to stop talking about impeachment. IMO it makes the impeachment discussion even more imperative. Get him out before he makes more rash decisions, though who knows what Pence would do (Pence – UGH!). Whether any Repub Senators will feel that way is another question. November can’t come soon enough.

    15
  16. I would say st00pid people elect a st00pid gov’mint, but that is wrong, as the majority voted AGAINST the trumpkin, and it was a political trick that got him elected! But there are over 6million dimwitted idiots that did vote for his orangness and that is scary…the Kakistocracy is alive & well!!!

    16
  17. I’ve seen these 72 hour holds in action. They are way too short. And the “patient” can get up and walk out on his own after a certain point. I’ve seen active raving paranoid schizophrenics in this sort of situation. Even if stye are spiraling, they have that one little piece of law on their side. So what good does a 72 hour hold do? Frankly, not much at all.
