Trump Flies to France – To Skip WWI Ceremony

November 10, 2018 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

Trump is catching hell from everyone from CNN to Winston Churchill’s grandson for flying all the way to France for WWI commemoration ceremonies to simply skip a US cemetery visit because of…wait for it…rain.  Our low energy president chose to stay in his hotel room watching television while dignitaries from all over Europe and North America visited cemeteries all over France.  Apparently he didn’t want to muss his hair weave.

While his sycophants defended his lack of motivation to actually do his goddam job, I’ll just leave this little remembrance of how real presidents deal with poor weather conditions:

Be social and share!

  1. Yeah, but that guy wasn’t hated by everybody in Europe…

    1
  2. If he wasn’t a Kenyan usurper the Secret Service would be holding the umbrella. Just trolling the trolls for S’s&G’s.

    2
  3. He’s not so sweet he’ll melt in the rain. And the stuff he’s full of floats.

  4. Jane & PKM says:

Thus sparing our nation the embarrassment of Cadet Bone Spurs larding around in a golf cart while real leaders walked. Visions of old Dotard45 miring his cart in the mud, too. Since there were no major twitter storms while Donnie was having his executive time (nap), where was Vlad?

    4
  5. To be fair, it WAS the cartoon hour in France.

    5
  6. I am visualizing what that mess on top of his head would have looked like. (Mmmm, wish I hadn’t done that.)

    6
  7. My son’s paternal grandpa served in France in WWI as a gunnery sgt. My late husband and his two brothers served in the Army. They valued their military experience. With real hands on experience, none of them would have been bothered at all by some rain. But there you have it. Experience. The Golden Gibbon doesn’t have it – anywhere – at all. He’s a definite minus.

    7
  8. And he even held his own umbrella. Man, I miss our old America.

    8
  9. Yesterday Trump said:
“I’ll never forgive [Barack Obama] for what he did to our United States military.”

24 hours later, now Trump’s got people who won’t forgive him for what he did to our military, especially our soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in France.

Does he have any idea what those doughboys endured in the trenches? A lot more than just the rain.

  10. Kate Dungan says:

As Justin Trudeau got up to speak, he dropped his umbrella to his side and said “As we sit here in the rain, thinking how uncomfortable we must be these minutes as our suits get wet, and our hair gets wet…it’s all the more fitting that we remember on that day in Dieppe the rain wasn’t rain, it was bullets.”

    Canada’s class act.

    10
  11. 1) Trudeau got his Wars confused Dieppe was WW ll. That fiasco was what made the Canadians decide to follow US lead from WW l and stop surrendering command of troops to the brits.

    2) Once demented donnie was told that there would be no parade with tanks rolling over the graves of the fallen he lost interest.

Solemnity and respect for others is well outside of doddering don’s capabilities.

    11
  12. Kate Dungan:
Thanks so much for that. One gesture and one comment shames the Golgothan more than any vitriol the tweeter-in-chief could spout.
AK Lynne, now imagine Justin Trudeau in the rain. I know I’m gonna do my best to make sure my lovely lady never gets within a mile of him.

    12
  13. I miss the community organizer. He was a better president than the current jerk.

    14
  14. Too bad it wasn’t raining in Washington, DC on 1/20/17.

    15
  15. Meant to add above, wind and rain didn’t bother him a year ago!

@metaquest: My POTUS was NEVER terrified of rain.

  17. Damn those Democrats and their infernal weather control machine!

    18
  18. Liberty Belle says:

Weather in France was 54 and cloudy. Not sure if it was the clouds or the 20% chance of rain that scared DJT. Either is a lame excuse to cancel a visit to the cemetery.

  19. The WWI Remembrance Ceremony that SOBOTUS skipped (he sent Kelly and Pompeo) was at Belleau Wood, which was a major battle for the greatly outnumbered US Marines and other Allied units.

The Germans had mounted a major offensive, centered on Château-Thierry, which was halted and beat back at Belleau Wood, mostly by the 1/5, 3/5, 3/6, 1/6 Marines, with heavy casualties incurred by all.
The Marines are thought to have acquired their nicknames of “Devil Dogs” ( Teufelshunde /Höllenhunde ) there.

I suspect that even some of today’s many RW leaning Marines will be having second thoughts about their unwarranted admiration for the POS occupying our WH.

RAT45 may have also have been having a little secret tete-a-tete with his master Vladimir Putin too… some quality time (IYKWIM).

Good video of just how very very hard operating an umbrella really is:

    20
  20. Donald J. Trump, Semper Cūlus…

    21
  21. I read a volume of first-person accounts of the war. Except for the pilots, the one thing that everybody mentioned, without exception, was the mud. Not only were these soldiers in constant danger of being shot, gassed, or blown to pieces, they also had to walk, sit, eat, sleep, wait, pray, crap, and do every other thing in MUD. Some of that mud included body parts that hadn’t been found and removed yet, and some of those parts, including horse and mule parts, had been there for weeks or months. I cannot imagine….

And this prissy little dick can’t go out to the cemetery where some of them finally found a clean burial because he might have gotten wet. Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ…!

    22
  22. Donnie’s a disgrace.

Since, you know, projection, he loves to label other people and events a “disgrace”.

    23
  23. Y’all, I think he left the umbrella at the top of the stairs because the wind was starting to blow the orange thing on top of his head and he didn’t want another picture of his nearly bald underneath scalp circulating on the intertubes. Ignorance of how to close an umbrella may be involved but in this case I think it’s his orangeness’ vanity.

He couldn’t go to the remembrance ceremony because he’s so vain he couldn’t risk a few possible raindrops on his precious head/hair. He couldn’t chance the ridicule of his hair so he gets ridiculed for being a selfish coward. Either works for me.

    24
  24. Charles R Phillips says:

Good news, both Mz Lindsey and Mitch the Turtle are up for re-election in 2020!

Start saving today, for a pay-off at the polls in 2 years.

    25
  25. Remember when Trump used to rail against President Obama for ‘wasting taxpayer money’ and ‘taking unnecessary trips’?

That was then, this is now.

    26
  26. Every American, no matter what political party they belong to, should be embarrassed by Trump’s jaw-dropping lack of respect for the fallen. That he couldn’t attend the wreath-laying ceremony because of a few raindrops is disgraceful, especially when all the other heads of state managed to go out in the rain, show respect, and even say a few words — all without melting. Wow! That’s what real leaders do. Unfortunately we haven’t got one of those . . .

When will people who support this jerk wake up and realize what kind of person he really is? And start calling him out for his actions (or lack of).

Trump has given all of us reasons to feel ashamed of how he represents our country. This latest episode is just one more reason to make sure he is not re-elected!

    27
  27. I have thunk another thought. Remember the convoluted reasons Nancy gave when Ronnie “wasn’t available for some reason” and the schedule had to be either re-adjusted or dropped altogether? Could the same thing be happening again?

    28
  28. And CNN reports that when the world leaders gathered together, Putin gave Trump the “thumbs up” sign. Ugh. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

    29
  29. I want my money back! However much was spent to fly pResident No Show, Messy and their entourage to France should be billed directly to Donnie. He dishonored our country, our deceased war heroes and all living troops today who fight all over the world in all weather conditions. Congress, at a minimum, should reallocate all funds spent flying Orange Foolius anywhere to the VA for veterans’ benefits.

C’mon …. _____Republicans …. You claim to be fiscal conservatives. Show it. No more multi-million dollars trips for this 10 cent No Show. Grow a spine Old Scratch, or at least spend your own personal scratch on this farce of a ‘leader.’

    30
  30. Remember how the wicked witch of the West reacted to water? Maybe Trump is just being careful . . . .

    31
  31. Maggie,
My dad has late stage Alzheimers but in the early stages he sounded just like POTUS. He often answered a different question because he didn’t understand the one he was asked.

    32
  32. It is so unfair that the majority of people (globally) are criticizing this man for not attending this most solemn event.

I’m quite certain Melania would have happily manned up and held an umbrella over him! Or perhaps he could have taken a tip from Queen Elizabeth and worn a headscarf! I guess in his narcissistic little mind the priority was to save that hideous mess on the top of his empty head. There was also nap time and television that were important factors in his dishonorable decision as well, I suspect.

These people are obviously under the false assumption that he could possibly understand importance of Remembrance Day and the historical significance of this particular Remembrance Day. One must remember that he has no personal history to draw upon for honoring the veterans that fought to safeguard our freedoms and privileges. He is, after all, a member of a family with a long and *proud* history of dodging the draft.

He is a disgrace to the United States, the office of the president, and humanity.
    .

    .

Or perhaps Jim Acosta also being in France scared the commander-in-cowardice.
