Trump Fires Entire DOJ Legal Team on Census Question

July 08, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Government, Trump

To get your Monday off to a roaring start, the NYTimes is reporting that the DOJ has replaced the entire legal team defending Trump’s outrageous attempt to circumvent the SCOTUS by insisting that the citizenship question go on to the census form in defiance of their ruling.  According to reporting, lawyers in the federal programs branch of the DOJ were defending the case and are known for being particularly non-political.  Anonymous sources in the DOJ are confirming that this team of lawyers was refusing to sign the arguments that Trump, through Barr were insisting on, because those arguments are obvious and provable lies.  Trump’s solution?  Fire the entire team and bring in other more compliant lawyers.

Your president at work.

The prestige of working in the WH along with the inevitable orders to be stood up against the wall for public execution.

Monster has more meltdowns over its frustrations than Hitler raging against his generals for not being able to take Stalingrad in a timely fashion.

He’s defying the SCOTUS??? Why hasn’t someone put this idiot in a self-hugging jacket and hauled him off to Camp David?

    Good Grief.

Yeah, that’s what was wrong with the case.
    The lawyers.

Not the half-baked, blatantly racist argument that couldn’t get past a 5-4 right-wing Supreme Court. Not the lies by Wilbur Ross and various other geniuses that were uncovered, exposing the question’s true intent of deliberately suppressing minority participation. Not the outright false claim that the census is designed to count citizens, not total population.

    The lawyers.

  4. Juggling attorneys? Seriously, was anyone surprised?

Sounds like grounds for 25th Amendment solutions, to me.

In the meantime, let’s enjoy the warm glow of the fire from the Constitution burning.

I’m sure they will be replaced by the finest team of lawyers that Liberty University can produce. Maybe augmented by keen minds provided by Michael Cohen’s alma mater, Mid-South Eastern Michigan School of Law and Car Reupholstery.

IANAL, but it seems in criminal cases a client fires his lawyers when he’s lost connection with reality, and is generally one step away from declaring himself a Sovereign Citizen. I cannot recall any case where the client subsequently won anything but an irritated judge and possibly an even longer sentence than the prosecution requested.

Changing your story 10 times in the last four months and hoping for a successful result is also a definition of insanity.

And sitting on their ineffective hands, McConnell and Co. watch unfazed as the monster they created trashes the country.
How they can live with themselves is mind blowing.

One wonders whether anyone in the DOJ would be willing to put their licenses on the line to keep the Apricot Hellbeast appeased… I expect openly defying the Supreme Court won’t go over well with a John Roberts.

That day the SCOTUS ruling on the census question came out was the same day they recalled Pence from his New Hampshire trip, and then refused to say why. Here’s a theory: Trump threw a fit and said he’d resign, even summoning Pence back to take over, before he calmed down and started merely firing people. We were THIIIIIIS close!

    Is this a clue?

This was about a month before SCOTUS ruling/Pence recalled.

I haven’t seen the entire interview for context.

  16. Once more to Barr for the save.
As of this morning poodle in chief barr claimed he had found a way to “legally” add the inane question.
Yet supposedly according to all the doj filings the forms went to the printer last week.
Hopefully some judge demends to see the questionaire they sent to the printer to check to se if they are either
    a) Flat out lying and question is getting printed
    b) they “rephrased” the question that makes it “legal”
    c) they are leaving a blank spot on the layout that the question can be inserted into with out having to redo entire layout.

Hope the NY judge issues order of estoppal as he/she has been asked by the plaintiff’s lawyers

  17. “Fire the entire team and bring in more compliant lawyers.”
    I’m gonna make a prediction.
Before long, Donald f**king Trump will twit something about how those Loser lawyers were fired because:
    a. They were part of the Deep State. Or
    b. They just weren’t committed to the Constitution like the great William Barr is, and why can’t he find more patriotic lawyers like Barr?
And the job applications will come flooding in.
    I’ve made worse predictions.

    17
  18. hopefully, those “other, more compliant lawyers” will end up getting disbarred, at a minimum.

Here’s a new very scary item: Trump is already planning next year’s July 4 Ego Trip, and has suggested this will continue for the “foreseeable future”.
