This Might Be Fun

September 20, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I rarely work on Fridays, and I still have 20 boxes to unload and a major haul to make at Costco.  But, I cannot leave you guys nowhere to holler when this crap is happening.

I feel like Charlie Brown with Lucy’s football.  Every time I believe that Trump is finally gonna get kicked out of office, another hole is punched in the Constitution and he stays.  Hell, I thought it was over when he mimicked a handicapped man. That seems almost charming now.

Extorting a foreign country to get dirt on a political opponent may do it.  Probably not because if they dump Trump, they also have to dump Mike Pence, who apparently also made a trip to Ukraine to help this project along. You know who that leaves.

I’ll try to get back here if something big happens. If I can’t, y’all keep the comments going.

  2. This is from Robert Costa’s Twitter Feed:

VP Pence met with Ukraine’s Zelensky a few weeks ago in Poland, sitting in for Pres. Trump, who couldn’t make the trip. The meeting was in a windowless hotel room. Bolton sat silent, Sec. Perry there, too, as pool reporters were brought int. Zelensky kept bouncing his knees…

I was the pool reporter in the room. VP Pence did not respond to questions, including questions from reporters about whether the Trump administration would still allocate $250 million in planned security aid to Ukraine.

As Bolton looked on, VP Pence said that he could assure Zelensky “that we will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine on your security, on territorial integrity,” but didn’t get into details.

Zelensky said his administration is poised to “defeat corruption.”

A day later, VP Pence took questions at a news conference. Pay attention to his response to a question from AP’s @colvinj regarding Ukraine.

“Thank you very much, Mr. Vice President. I wanted to ask you about your meeting yesterday with the Ukrainian President and for an update on Ukrainian security aid money.”

“Specifically, number one, did you discuss Joe Biden at all during that meeting yesterday with the Ukrainian President? And number two, can you assure Ukraine that the hold-up of that money has absolutely nothing to do with efforts, including by Rudy Giuliani, to try to dig up dirt on the Biden family?”

VICE PRESIDENT PENCE: “Well, on the first question, the answer is no. But we — with President Zelensky yesterday, we discussed — we discussed America’s support for Ukraine and the upcoming decision the President will make on the latest tranche of financial support in great detail.”

  4. No, it won’t. The DNI whistleblower scandal is no worse than any of the other hundred scandals and outrages that preceded it or will follow it.

Not enough people are calling their reps and senators to demand impeachment action. They really won’t take it seriously until the call volume gets to be about 30,000 or so over the space of a week. Only then does it become clear that this is a re-election issue.

Posting this blog or comments to it won’t do it. Including this one.

  5. Just wrote Senator Cornyn. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Just called both of my rep’s offices (local and DC). He’s the only holdout among Oregon Dems to not call for impeachment inquiry or actual impeachment. It is a purplish district, however, he usually wins by a big enough margin that he shouldn’t be such a wimp about calling for something so obviously necessary.

  7. Ben Sasse is one of my Senators. I’ve tried contacting him, I never hear back. However he puts me on his email list and sends me stuff..about abortion. My other Senator is Deb Fischer, she relies, with snitty messages.

Hey, it’s Nebraska for God’s sake. Whattya expect?

Legal analyst breaks down 3 separate potential violations in Trump’s apparent Ukraine shakedown

Legal analyst Ben Wittes on MSNBC Friday detailed three separate problems inherent in President Donald Trump’s apparent attempts to use his position to induce the Ukrainian government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family.

“There’s three issues here, and they’re all really big deals,” Wittes said to host Chris Matthews on “Hardball.”

“So the first is: shaking down a foreign leader for his own personal political gain,” he continued. “It’s not for some U.S. policy objective.”

The second issue is something the whole country is already deeply familiar with: “inviting or asking or demanding that foreign country to improperly engage in the U.S. political process.”

    “Collusion!” Matthews declared. Wittes agreed.

“And the third,” Wittes said, “which is, from my point of view, by far the worst, asking, demanding a foreign leader to investigate your political opponents.”

Wittes noted that Trump has previously asked U.S. law enforcement to go after political rivals — and now he’s taking that abuse abroad.

  13. I know it’s probably been pointed out here, but the further down the rabbit hole we go, the more Rudy Giuliani looks like Nosferatu from that 20’s Dracula movie.

  14. PP @13 Closer to a sweaty, blithering Renfield unable to stop contradicting one sentence with the next. Just like “the master”

If we ever see any kind of impeachment ala Watergate redux by the timid dems which at that time saw the prison sentences of at least 38 government officials including AG John Mitchell, Donald Segretti, lawyers and homunculus trolls dragged from under various rocks

Our monster’s trail of indictments, jail terms, lawsuits quadrupled, will seem like the Parisian Grand Guignol Theatre, splashed red over the political stage with public approval and thunderous applause of the gore. Our very own national razor.

    14
  15. Linda Phipps says:

Perhaps holding back, not pushing too hard, too soon in asking for impeachment, Nancy Pelosi is being very savvy to avoid accusations of engineering against Trump/Pence for her own benefit.

    15
  16. A political viewpoint proposing patience as a plan to avoid accusations. If that were the only factor to weigh, the party politics.

Lets ask the farmers of this country, the what, million desperate homeless, the occasional trickle of soldiers killed or wounded in the vast morass of wars, thousands of children and their parents segregated and imprisoned or dying at the hands of cruel shock troops running for profit camps, with their status yanked away from them. People flooded out of their homes, parents and children living like refugees in their own country. Ask them for their forebearance. Ask them if they are worried about accusations.

His attacks are SOP and he doesn’t care about Dems engineering anything. His total focus and mantra is chaos, violence and misery against citizens and humanity in general. He is responsible for more death than all the mass shootings combined but he keeps a hand in that game too.

    16
  17. Linda Phipps @ 15,

If impeachement proceedings happens, at least we’ll have a record of the senate’s denial. I think that would matter to voters. The Democrats and Pelosi looks like a chickensh!t party, in the meantime.

    17
  18. Folks, we all know he deserves impeachment. He deserves to be hung up by his nadgers with a thin scratchy rope. But it’s Fantasyland. There’s no way in hell the GOP Senate would convict him, and he’d just sail out claiming that he’d been declared innocent (because he can’t pronounce “vindicated”).

So what is the point exactly?
