They Know It’s Over

October 15, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I heard speculation the other day that Senate Republicans aren’t passing a disaster package so that Joe Biden will enter office with a depression going on and after inauguration they’ll start hollering about the deficit.

Yeah, holler, you worthless chunks of chubby old white men, because the only thing we’ll hear is you whining ‘cuz you’re losers.  Most of you won’t even get a vote after inauguration.

I just got breaking news from the The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday shot down the prospect of a coronavirus deal totaling between $1.8 trillion and $2.2 trillion — the goalposts of the current talks between Democrats and the White House.

McConnell’s comments, made to reporters in Kentucky, underscore the divisions between President Trump and Senate Republicans on a fifth coronavirus package, with the GOP leader preparing to force a vote on a $500 billion bill next week.

Maybe Trump could start throwing out paper towels at his rallies.  That might help.

Seriously, he cut it by more than 2/3rds?  That’s not even in the rule book.

Too little, too late money is twice as bad as no money at all.

    Politically, of course.

Are Republicons blind? The unemployed may be the hardest hit, but the underemployed are also struggling and deserving of our help. Those in the restaurant industry and others dependent on tips for their survival are getting slammed. A restaurant operating at 1/4 – 1/2 capacity means a similar decrease in their income. Imagine if Senate wages were similarly affected. No relief, then no pay for Moscow Mitch and the others who need to be voted out. $1200 stretched over 6 months wouldn’t cover the price of wine for Paul Ryan for a week, yet they deny another such pittance to struggling citizens.

Let’s not forget the added expenses of the pandemic that are throttling state and municipality budgets, while the economic chaos has decimated their revenues.

Kept on this economic track, the 1929 crash will look like a holiday compared to the coming crash. Even the Federal Reserve acknowledges that.

  3. Jane & PKM @ 2,

You said, “Kept on this economic track, the 1929 crash will look like a holiday compared to the coming crash. Even the Federal Reserve acknowledges that.”

I say, another Paris 1789 event in the making.

I always assumed there was a good possibility Donald “Bankrupt” Trump would remake America in the image of a failing Atlantic City casino, even with our country’s ability to print money at the flick of a switch. But Mitch McConnell deliberately driving America into an economic ditch? I guess when you sell your soul to the devil, your free will and individual choice are part of the bargain.

Does everyone remember how the market dropped in Dec. 2018 when his majesty closed the government and how it PLUMMETED in March this year when the pandemic mess started. If we common folk go down, the rich will follow.

Can’t watch the Trumpf town hall. Have to say my feeling was it was all about the money for nbc (and msnbc) but sounds like he’s being his own worst enemy. Glad he’s being asked some questions he can’t have a good answer to. Savanna Guthrie compared him to a crazy uncle is good. News at 11.

And right on cue they’re warming up their arguments for austerity. “Too expensive, tax and spend Democrats, we’re in a recession, mortgaging our children’s future.” Tell you what then, let’s start by repealing the Trump tax cuts, and the Bush tax cuts too, which were even bigger. Triple the budget of the IRS and it’ll more than pay for itself. Warren’s wealth tax too, tax on Wall Street trades, and look into money laundering deeply. A blue ribbon commission to go over the taxes of Fortune 500 companies, and write up recommendations for Congress to close tax loopholes.

  9. Jane & PKM says:

Brad in Dallas @8 excellent start! Adjust minimum wage for inflation, not to $15/hr, but to a living wage which is $25/hr, more in some locales. Give Social Security earners a living increase not based on percentages, but the bottom line increase needed to move seniors out of poverty.

Fine the corporate welfare recipients an additional 5% above the nominal tax for every employee they have on food stamps. Working poor? Time to bury that craziness.

    The town halls last night.

Ever hear of the word iteration? Or re-iteration? Its the type of talk that falls out of tRump’s mouth at any given time and/or place. It usually means 1.)incompetence and/or 2.) guilty.
I did not envy Savahana Guthrie.

Joe Biden came across as the Adult in the Room. Complete sentences. No blaming anyone or anything else. He went long once – 5 minutes – but that was about it. He also hung around to take questions from people.

    tRump? Not!

Damn, this presidency has been sooooo exhausting!

It’ll be tough after the Tweeter in Chief goes, but with Joe hiring all the Smartest People, and control of Congress, we could clean up a lot of the mess in 2 years, before the midterms. We just have to hang on long enough to see it.

His Orangeness has done with the government what he’s done with his businesses – driven it into bankruptcy. We all saw it coming, but sometimes all you can do is jump out of the way just before the speeding train gets to you.

We’re heading out in a few to contribute OUR two votes to his downfall.

H/T to Jeffrey St. Clair: Pray, grin, and Barrett. That works for both the nominee and the last four years. Moscow Mitch announcing he plans to do to Biden what he did to President Obama; no surprise there. Calling on both Kentucky and Lady Karma to fix that before it happens within the next 18 days.

Scary. Almost feel sorry for Steve Mnunchin. Pudding Boy is caught between the self serving incompetent evil Donnie who wants a stimulus deal to boost his campaign/ego and the competently evil Moscow Mitch who wants to tank everything to give Biden the shaft. Projecting no “winners” in that mess, while we know who the losers will be.

Some of us persevere for our kids, others for their grandchildren, and this: https://www.counterpunch.org/wp-content/dropzone/2020/10/Screen-Shot-2020-10-14-at-4.30.56-PM-680×762.png
