The Truth Wrapped Up In A Grin
I have a neighbor who wears his MAGA hat 24/7. I think he sleeps and showers in the damn thing. Every day when he takes a walk he slows down in front of my house and stops to face my front window just because he knows it pisses me off.
I am often moved to open the front door and sass him. Like the time I asked him to please clean up his dog’s poop. “I don’t own a dog,” he hollered back. “Oh dear Lord,” the devil forced me to reply, “you’re crapping in my front yard?” I asked in faux horror.
Or the time I yelled at him, “Honey, you have a defective hat. It ain’t keeping your brains from falling out.”
Sometimes I stay up at night thinking of things to say to him.
Yesterday I announced from my front steps, “Sweetie, thank you for becoming living proof that a side effect of Ivermectin is cow butt.” I’m really a mean person.
Do you think he’ll be able to read this from the sidewalk? If so, I’m going to order it.

Numerous people just doing their jobs, particularly involving COVID issues, have been assaulted and even killed by lunatic MAGAots. Medical personnel, store/restaurant employees, etc., just going about their work, and getting harassed not only on the job but at home and elsewhere too.
A bad incident just happened in Maryland, a raving RWNJ killed his own pharmacist brother, SiL, and elderly friend of their own mother. Three innocent people murdered, just because the now dead pharmacist was administering the COVID19 vaccine from his pharmacy and his MAGAot brother become unglued.

Floridian here, too.
Believe it or not, though it took about 6 years after I moved here, I found a particularly sane corner of Florida.
Since I’ve lived in St. Pete, I’ve seen one Trump-House and one Trump-truck — both festooned with signs. [Can’t guarantee they didn’t belong to the same person.]
My neighborhood is the opposite. We have folks with back-yard chickens whose eggs they swap for neighbors’ home grown veggies; several little free libraries and little free pantries; and our front yards are bedecked with BLM and LGBTQ flags.
A very welcoming place.
I landed on my feet here, and no mistake.

You are braver than I am. You live in TX, I live in TN, both states with essentially no gun laws. I would not respond to anyone like that for any reason. I suppose they are armed. I am 72 and have white hair, if someone said anything to me at the Kroger about wearing a mask, I would just walk away.
I admire your courage. I just want the stupidity of others to not end my life…by gunfire or COVID.
